Question:
cost of running?
- Anonymous on 2014-04-17
Answer:
I didn't even no it was running no big or I would notice I keep my car garage 60%
- Richard H. on 2014-04-17
Answer:
I Have been running 1 for two years in a business Had two many walls Had two add 1 more Have had no problems with either one Heats 340 Sq Ft with door opening all the time really good good safety feactures
- Michael A. on 2014-04-17
Answer:
No way for me to know that because I don't know how many hours you plan on using it per day. I don't use it daily. I can tell you that when I work in the garage for a couple of hours and the starting room temp is 40 degrees and when turned on in about 20 minutes the temp is 70 degrees. It will not run constantly because of the thermostat. I am well pleased with the unit. I added a circuit breaker and a wall switch for the unit. Just running it in that time span I don't notice a big change in my bill. That is all the help I can give you.
- Larry L. on 2014-04-17
Answer:
I can't say for sure...but we used it all winter long, and a horribly cold winter it was. We kept it on the lowest setting to keep the garage above freezing and would occasionally raise it if we were out there for extended period of time. I noticed a slight bump $5-10 a month in the bill. I have a finished garage and it worked well.
- Ken F. on 2014-04-19
Answer:
I live in northwest Iowa. The winter of 2013-2014 was pretty cold, as we all know. My bill during the coldest month, temps were below 0 thru the teens, with a couple days of wind chill down to -50 degree's. I kept my setting between 3&4, which kept it at 45-50 degree's. It cost me about $45 more for that month. My garage/shop is 14'x40'. the back half 14' x 20'. is my shop, well insulated. The front half is not insulated, cold storage for my truck, etc etc.. I would recommend this heater. Richard W

Answer:
don't know bought them for 2 customs 3 for 2 car garage and 4 for a building over a heated in ground pool both worked real will for owners
- darrin m. on 2014-04-20
Answer:
This heater is amazing. I have it in my 500 Sq ft garage with high ceilings. Though it is heavily insulated I am sure it would have no problem heating it up to temp in no time. It takes about 15 minutes the get it warm enough to work on my car in summer clothing when it was -48 this last winter. During our worst month this winter the heater only added $20.00 to my electric bill. ( I keep the heat at 60 degrees unless Im out working in the garage.)
- tony d. on 2014-04-18
Answer:
It is excellent. Completely safe being hardwired in by a professional electrician. Perfect performance & very economical with the thermostat in it. Even in these severe Colorado Winters the cost of running it isn't even hardly noticeable. It's a great heater! No more frozen food or frozen bottled water kept out in the garage and since we have to bring the dog into the garage during the Winter, he loves it in there now.
- Craig M. on 2014-04-17
Answer:
For 1000 sq ft garage we spent approximately $12 on a 30 degree month, $50 on a 10 degree month, and $85 on 0 degree month. Temperature was set to stay at approx 45 degrees.

Question:
Does this heater use a 110 volt out let?
- Anonymous on 2014-10-06
Answer:
No, its 220.
- Quentin H. on 2014-10-07
Answer:
No, 220 volt
- Larry L. on 2014-10-06
Answer:
No...this heater requires a 220 volt connection. When it arrived, I went to the hardware store and purchased a 220v plug and some wire...so I could connect the unit's 3 leads to the wall. I mounted my heater near an existing 220 volt receptacle...so this was pretty simple. (However...you could need an electrician if you don't already have an open 220 volt receptacle close to the area you plan to mount the heater.) I'm pleased with the way my heaters perform. (I have one installed in the garage....and two others installed in a 30' x 50' metal building.) The thermostat feature is great....because this heater can warm things up pretty quickly.
- Jerry W P. on 2014-10-06
Answer:
No, this heater uses 220 volts and must be directly wired to the service panel with a 30 amp breaker. If you're not familiar with doing this type of work, call a licensed electrician for the installation.
- John H. on 2014-10-06
Answer:
I had a licensed electrician come in. He suggested that I allow him to install a 220v outlet for this unit. I followed his advice, and as such, I have not had any problems. The electrician also installed a hard wired plug to this heater, which plugged into the 220 v outlet that he installed. I hope this helps.
- samuel p. on 2014-10-06
Answer:
We had to change our outlet to 240 volts.
- Norma J. T. on 2014-10-06
Answer:
I do not recommend using a normal 110 outlet. At 5000 watts I elected to have an electrician install a dedicated line and breaker switch.

Question:
Is this unit safe to leave on all the time?
- Anonymous on 2014-11-12
Answer:
It turns on & off with changes in the temperature. We have it in a garage 100 miles from our home where we store our boat and summer things. It keeps the area at the level we choose. Electric bill about $30 a month during winter.
- Norma J. T. on 2014-11-12
Answer:
This unit is safe to run all the time. I from northwest Iowa, and it was very cold here in the winter of 2013. I ran it all winter long. It kept my 14 by 20 ft. shop at about 50 degrees on setting 3. I hope this information help's out.
- Richard W. on 2014-11-15
Answer:
I have left mine on all the time during the cold months without incident.
- Darren H. on 2014-11-15
Answer:
We have had the heater for about a year and we turn it to the lowest setting in the summer and it does not turn on. When we need it in the winter we turn the knob to low or medium and it heats the two car garage quickly then turns of by itself. When we don't need the heater in the winter we just turn it to the lowest setting link in the summer and it stays off. In our experience this is a safe and efficient heater. We are completely satisfied.
- John O. on 2014-11-12
Answer:
I would say yes. The unit has a thermostat dial on the back side that allows you to control the temperature, so it will turn on and off as needed. Just make sure you follow the mounting instructions provided as the unit must be mounted off the ground and the outside casing does get hot.
- Ken F. on 2014-11-12
Answer:
Yes live in Michigan heat my two car garage all winter.
- Roger C. on 2014-11-12
Answer:
The unit should be safe to leave on all the time. It comes equipped with safety shut off controls that will cause the unit to not run if it overheats and it also has a thermostat to regulate usage. Obviously the more the unit is used, the more wear and tear it is going to experience though, as with any product.
- Mark S. on 2014-11-12
Answer:
As long as it's installed correctly, I believe it's safe to leave on all the time. I don't usually need to heat my shop during the night, but I've left it on for a few days continually with no issues. Since it's thermostat controlled, it cycles on and off.
- John H. on 2014-11-12
Answer:
We only use this in our shop. We do not leave it on all of the time. Most the time we turn it on to heat it up, return to the shop when it is warm and work. We have never left it on all night. I am not necessarily saying it isn't safe to leave on all of the time, but we never have. Hope this helps you.

Question:
Is the fan adjustable?
- John Tennant on 2014-11-19
Answer:
Is there a thermostat involved? To be adjustable it must be adjustable to turn on and off. Great fan for the cost and works well on heating cold areas.
- Sandra N. on 2014-11-20
Answer:
no. Fan is one speed constant rpm.
- Keith G. on 2014-11-19
Answer:
Yes, mine has a rheostat knob to adjust the heat. It does not adjust the fan speed though.

Vents adjust up and down and base will pivot
- bryant h. on 2014-11-19
Answer:
The fan is not adjustable.
- Christine M. on 2014-11-19
Answer:
John, the unit is adjustable on the bracket as a tilt feature. The fan has only one speed and is thermostat adjusted. I live north of Chicago with a 2.5 car garage and this unit maintains around 60 degrees throughout the winter, but it would keep it much warmer if I desired it to. I had a professional electrician install mine and I'm very pleased with the unit.
- Tony K. on 2014-11-19
Answer:
Hi John... The fan is one speed and of course controlled by the thermostat. It's a great unit and works perfect in my 2 car attached garage. Hope this helps
- Ernest G. on 2014-11-19
Answer:
Yes. just one knob. Generally don't need to change it all winter.
- Catherine G. on 2014-11-19
Answer:
The front vanes adjust up and down. Mounted from the top, the heater can be rotated somewhat left or right (swiveled). From a temperature standpoint, it took about 4 hours to raise the temperature in my 900 sq. ft. garage from 41 degrees to 60 degrees. The fan seems to run at only 1 speed.
- Lowell D. on 2014-11-19
Answer:
No. The only adjustment is the temperature thermostat dial.

Question:
what size breaker do I need 20 amp or 30 ?
- Anonymous on 2014-11-29
Answer:
The electrician installed two 30 amp breakers for each heater. I believe they were hard wired to the breakers. The units work well. I would recommend these if you have no gas source again great little units with a punch.
- Kim H. on 2014-11-30
Answer:
I am using a30 amp breaker. I also use a lathe on the same circuit that supposedly pulls 20 amps and a dust collector that pulls 13 amps. This heater is rated at 22 amps I think ... but am sure it doesn't draw that much. It does an excellent jog and is a good buy.

Question:
I see that it has a thermostat, but does it have a inn off switch? or do you need to connect it to s switch?
- alan r. on 2014-11-30
Answer:
Alan, Good morinig. I have my unit hard wired and mounted on the garage wall. The dial switch can either be turned down (off) or dialed in to any desireable setting you require. It works very well for my double car garage. Regards, Ron
- Ronald K. on 2014-12-01
Answer:
Alan, there is a control knob. you can turn it off or set it from 1 to 5. The only problem that I have is that it hangs from the ceiling and I do have to get up and down on a ladder to set it. It would be nice to have a remote control to be bale to control from the floor. I have a 2 car garage and so far I have it set for 1 and this has kept the garage at 60 degrees. So far I'm very happy. George
- George B. on 2014-12-01
Answer:
This unit comes with a single pole thermostat.
- Christine M. on 2014-12-02
Answer:
No, the unit does not have an on/off switch. I use the breaker switch in my panel to turn it on/off. My panel box in garage is fairly close to the heater.
- William Q. on 2014-11-30
Answer:
It does not have an On/Off switch, so you must turn it off through your circuit breaker box if you have to turn it off for a long period of time. During the install, you might wire in a switch, but I did not do this. Instead, I turn the thermostat dial all the way until it stops (counter clockwise) and this does the trick for temporary shut down. I plan to use the circuit breaker in the spring to shut it down during the warmer months. Hope this helps.
- Kenneth P. on 2014-11-30
Answer:
No on off switch.
- Mark O. on 2014-11-30
Answer:
The dial is numbered 0-9 with zero being off and 1 the lowest temp and 9 running almost all the time. I had tried to wire in a thermostat on the wall with temperature settings but I couldn't get it to work so I just went with the factory dial. Other than that it works great in my 800 sq ft garage but my garage is Insulated. It can be 10 degrees out and it will cycle on and off and hold at 65. I've gotten the temp as high as 78. Hope this helps!

Answer:
Its the same thing. It starts ??s 240V and you may see a drop to 220V due to resistance at the heater. So no worries.
- Fred C. on 2014-12-08
Answer:
What people call 220v is Actually 240v. you do need to use a 30 Amp dual pole circuit breaker and 10/2 electrical wire. If you get a multi tester on What you are calling a 220 V circuit, you should see that you have 240 V. Hope this info helps. Make sure you don't use Anything lighter than 10/2 wite or the wire will get too hot, And that is definately not How you would want to wire this heater.
- Glenn L. on 2014-12-08
Answer:
yes, just wire receptacle to std 220 grid w/ground. 30 amp circuit breaker (appliance draws 21 amps). chose appropriate gauge wire for the length of run of receptacle, usually 10 gauge for most purposes. i always shut off circuit @ breaker box when not in use. this unit does not actually have a shut off switch, just thermostat setting high or low. once installed, this is a great auxiliary heater. overhead fans help when using it
- Mark S. on 2014-12-08
Answer:
I installed with no issues using 10/3 wire and a 30 amp breaker that is giving around 220 volts. Heater works great for my garage which is right about 440 sq ft with 10 foot ceiling

Question:
how does the two black wires L1 & L2 hook in to the 30 amp double pole breaker ?
- Ted M. on 2015-02-02
Answer:
This unit requires an professional electrician for installation.
- Christine M. on 2015-02-04
Answer:
If you do not know the answer then HIRE an electrician.
- Anthony A. on 2015-02-03
Answer:
The instructions will tell you to run a supply line from the cicuit breaker to a juction box, then run another line from the junction box to the unit. I just ran the line from the circuit breaker to the unit. The supply line had a black and white wire and it did not matter which black line was connected to the supply line wires. I can not imagine that your unit lines are long enough to reach your circuit breaker but if they are it should not matter which black wire is hooked up to the terminals on the cicuit breaker. (One on top and one on the bottom)The only thing that could happen is the circuit breaker would shut off when you turn the unit on. Then you just have to reverse the black wires but I don't think you will have to worry about that happening. I am assuming you are using a separate breaker for your unit as well.
- Larry L. on 2015-02-02
Answer:
I wish I could tell you. I had an electrician wire mine in the garage. I can say that these heaters work great once they are installed. You can use them when you need them then turn them off when not needed by adjusting the thermostat, very efficient.

Question:
Can you use a 110 to 220 step up converter to use the heater anywhere?
- Windell W. on 2015-03-16
Answer:
Hi Windell, Just wanted to point out that this unit does not come with a power cord and has to be hardwired. Also this unit should not be installed less than 6 feet above the ground. We would not recommend using a step up converter.
- Mark S. on 2015-03-16
Answer:
I am not sure. I believe it would depend on the specifications of the circuit that it was running off of. I would not do it.

Question:
I am thinking about buying the G73 for my garage. I see that many people have used 10/3 wire and plug to plug in to a 220/240 outlet. My question is, I have a dryer recepticle in my garage that I would possibly use to power this unit, I beleive it has the NEMA 10-30P configuration, its a 3 wire connector, can I use a dryer chord that is 6 ft, or possibly but the 10/3 wire and the proper plug. If I use the 10/3 wire, would about 10-15 feet be ok ? Thank you, any help would be greatly appreciated
