Super Price, Super Heater, Super Happy
I just moved to a new house with a drafty and cold 2-1/2 car garage and the typical 1500 watt indoor room style heater just wasn't cutting it. I was looking for something better and happened upon this site which also happened to have a scratch & dent Dimplex 4800 watt unit heater that was a bit cheaper than a new one so I figured that lessened the risk and I would give it a try. - This heater requires a 30 amp breaker and since my laundry room is next to the garage and I have an unused 30 amp receptacle for an electric dryer, ( I have a gas dryer ), I was able to simply replace my electric dryer receptacle with a NEMA 6-30 to match the plug on this heater. ( I did have to notch the underside of the garage door to run the cord under ). I'm in Texas, but it periodicially gets into the 20's here during the winter and I'm a night owl, so It was in the mid 40's and very uncomfortable for me in the garage at night. On the 1st day I tried it out it was 52 in the garage ( I put a thermometer out there ) and I turned the heater on. Lliterally within 15 minutes, it was almost 60 in the garage and after a few minutes more, I actually turned the thermostat knob till the unit switched off and over the next few hours, it cycled on and off a few times, but kept the temperature comfortable. This unit ( and any like this ) will use about 4800 watts anytime it's on, so here in Texas, if it were on for a full hour at a time, would cost about 40 cents per hour to run, but since it cycles on and off and I only use it a couple hours per day a few times a week, the $1 or so that it cost per day to operate is fine with me to keep my comfort level. The large fan does make some noise when it's on, but I have a stereo out there, so with the music on at a normal level, you really can't hear it, and I really can't imagine any similar units would be any quieter All in all I am very happy with this heater as well as with Air n water website. They shipped it quickly and it arrived in good working condition with a few dents that were expected due to the discounted price. I am glad I bought this and I would recommend this item to anyone who needs to add some heat to thier garage or workshop on a part time basis. - Due to the large amount of electricity it consumes, I would not recommend it for permanent heat. I should also add that I was able to replace the dryer receptacle myself, so if that's not something you are comfortable with, you'd need to hire an electrician to run you a line for you with a 30 amp breaker. I rate this an A+ and give it 5 stars for for performance.
Yes, I recommend this product.
