Question:
does it need a water line?
- Anonymous on 2014-11-17
Answer:
Yes preferably from a reverse osmosis system if you want clear ice.
- Eric K. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
Yes, it needs a water line. The water comes with the ice maker. I installed a water filter and connected the ice maker to the filter. Had the ice for 7 months runs great and makes ice fast. Just do not leave door open long, it will create frost inside.
- Ruben G. on 2014-11-17
Answer:

Answer:
Yes this ice maker needs a water line.
- Christine M. on 2014-11-18
Answer:
yes! but then it works beautfully! LOVE IT!
- Cynthia O. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
yes it needs a water line connected
- Rhonda S. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
It came with a line to connect it to a water supply. It was rather long, so I was able to run mine through the base of a couple of cabinets to the water supply line under the sink. If I remember correctly, the connector was threaded. I opted to go to the local Hardware Store and buy a self tapping connector. It wrapped around the water supply line and pierces the copper line with a sharp hollow needle and self seals.
- Allen V. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
Yes this unit requires a water line. .It's the same one as you would use for a refrigerator's ice maker. Just pick up an ice maker kit at your local hardware store. So easy. Good unit.
- William G. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
Yes
- William B. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
Yes it does. And we used a water filter as well. We run a Daylily Nursery and we used it all summer to make ice for soft drinks for our customers at our Customer Pavilion. We hooked it up to the well water line, used a water filter and didn't have to buy a single bag of ice all summer. Fabulous product. We're more than pleased with it.
- Steve N. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
Yes, this ice maker needs to be connected to a water line.
- Catherine M. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
Definitely.
- David M. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
The New Air ice maker does need a water supply line but does not need a drain. The unit comes with 1/4" diameter vinyl supply line but a saddle valve or some other means of tapping into a cold water line is needed. I teed off of a cold water line and added a ball valve so water to the unit can be conveniently shut off.
- David O. on 2014-11-17
Question:
What happens to the stored ice that begins to melt? Is the water turned back into ice, and does this water freeze the smaller cubes to make one large block of ice... like our refrigerator's ice maker? Thanks.
- Marc D. on 2015-01-11
Answer:
The stored ice doesn't melt as long as the unit is powered up and running. Ice stored in mine for over two weeks is still frozen and not stuck together.
- David O. on 2015-01-12
Answer:
We've never he a problem with the ice melting.
- Allen V. on 2015-01-11
Answer:
The stored ice doesn't really melt, but after awhile it does kind of clump together and you have to dump it out and let it start over. You didn't ask but it is very easy and quick to defrost which we like. Just turn it off and put a beach towel in the bottom and then throw the beach towel in the drier.
- William B. on 2015-01-11
Answer:
If the unit is on, it keeps the cubes frozen without them turning into water. If off, obviously everything melts (defrosts) and water will leak from front of unit. Good unit that makes ice fairly quick. No problems thus far.
- Jeffrey R. on 2015-01-11
Answer:
No. It works properly. No problems so far. Buy it or don't. :)
- dawn k. on 2015-01-11
Answer:
Hello Marc, I am sorry about the negative experience but I just wanted to let you know that I work for NewAir Customer Service and Dawn is not a customer service representative of our company. Based on her response, I believe she is a customer of ours who enjoys their product. I hope that you keep our brand in mind for any purchases you make in the future.
- Mark S. on 2015-01-12
Answer:
the stored ice does not melt. it works just like a refrigerator ice maker.... they go into a container. you have the lever to push up if you want it to quit making ice
- Rhonda S. on 2015-01-12
Question:
Storage capacity?
- Anonymous on 2015-03-17
Answer:
two shelves that hold maybe 6 water bottles or soda cans each and a drawer that I know will hold 8 Slim Fast. Hope that helps.
- William B. on 2015-03-18
Answer:
The storage is plenty for a Donner party of 4 to 6
- William G. on 2015-03-18
Answer:
Not much capacity to hold ice. We transfer the fresh ice to our regular freezer, usually about once per day.
- Catherine M. on 2015-03-18
Answer:
Hello, This unit can hold about 5 lb of ice but I did want to make sure you were aware that it is not refrigerated so the ice may not stay for long periods of time.
