Question:
It is for NYC and it is humid. it is for one bedroom. will it cool since it is humid? Also how noisy is it? Can i return it for free? do you need to keep a window open?
-
theresa
on
08-24-2015
Answer:
If it is humid the cooler will not work as well as if it was in the desert. I use it and I am 1/2 a mike from the beach so the humidity is mild to moderate but it works for me. The noise level is moderate but I use the noise level in place of my noise maker so it works for me. If you have high humidity the only way to go is with a a/c unit.

Answer:
NewAir AF-1000 is a fine unit to cool with indoors on days with less than 50% humidity. Really does move air and operates quietly, uses only a little water by comparison to other coolers and is so light and easy to move. easy care-easy instructions, learn them ,do them to keep unit like new for a long time.

08-25-2015
Answer:
Hello Theresa,
As some of our helpful customers said, evaporative coolers will not be able to cool humid environments like NYC effectively. To answer the rest of your questions, it will only be as loud as a medium sized fan, so not too noisy. We do currently offer free returns for 30 days after purchase. We do usually recommend keeping a window open for airflow so that the room doesn't get too humid.
-
Mark S.
on
08-24-2015
Answer:
Evaporative coolers work best in places where the humidity is low -- deserts, for example. You'll find that a window air conditioner is a better investment in NYC.
-
David B.
on
08-24-2015
Answer:
Humidity is how an evaporative cooler works.
So, short answer No.
Evaporative coolers work on evaporation.
If it is humid it doesn't work as well.
You'd be better off with an air conditioner. I know, more expensive but this would not work very well in humid conditions.

Answer:
Not noisy at all unless you run out of water in the unit. When the unit senses no water you will get an irritating alarm, easily rectified by filling it back up with water. I use mine in Reno, NV humidity right around 15% during the summer, I do not necessarily keep a window open. I sit about 5 feet in front of the cooler and it keeps me confortable, not sure how it would cool a bedroom. As far as I know, these coolers are returnable - best ask before you order.

It will NOT work in NYC ... Far to humid

on
08-24-2015
Answer:
Hi! This unit only works if it's a dry climate. If it's humid, it won't cool down at all, and will just make the room even more humid. Depending on the setting (1, 2, or 3) it will get a little loud; sort of like an industrial fan. It's recommended to keep a window open, as it's pushing out wet air into the room to cool it down. I've had my unit for about a month, and had only used it twice, but am not really happy with it since it doesn't actually cool the room down more than 2-3 degrees. It's disappointing when it says it will cool a room off much more than that. As far as returns go, the website says you can return it within 30 days, with no restocking fee, and no shipping cost to you. Hope this helps!

You can return it for free. But it will not cool your apartment because of the humidity. I live in Seattle and it didn't work at all for me. Your best bet is getting a portable air conditioner.

Answer:
It works best in humidity, I have been using mine all Summer, currently I have one in the open living room/dining room area and one upstairs in my daughters bedroom. They are not noisy, you do leave the windows open, and I had to return the first one, it was at no cost to me, and within 24 hours my new unit was here, the fed ex company picked up the return unit and it was done.. This is a great company, and I really love the units.

Answer:
No, it's not going to cool in humid climates. I live in Seattle and ended up returning this unit. I ended up getting a portable AC by Honeywell. My recommendation: Pay a little extra and get an AC unit.
