Soleus PH3-12R-03 4-in-1 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat Pump, Dehumidifier and Fan

WOW! I was totally impressed with Air & Water, Inc. from beginning to end!!! I researched several portable A/C units locally and on line for quality and price and chose Air and Water, Inc.?s Soleus Air, 12,000 BTU, Model PH3-12R-03. No one could even come near their price; with savings on tax, shipping and the lowest price anywhere, I saved almost $300. As soon as I placed my order I received an email with all the info. I needed; not only from Air & Water, Inc. but from FedEx as well. I could track my purchase the whole way from California to Texas on my cell phone! Even the box it came in was top of the art?very protective, yet easy to open and remove a 70lb machine! Still, I was a bit skeptical as to how well the unit would perform. I live in Texas, one of the hottest states in the country! The instructions were very clear and everything I needed to run the unit was included. It didn?t take long for me to turn it on and enjoy its cooling effect! It has a pleasant sound (I?ve heard fans that were noisier), and it definitely passed the cooling test! It is cooling three rooms and part of a hallway ? den, kitchen and dining room. There?s so many bells and whistles, that I had to play around with the controls before setting it exactly for what I wanted! Most of the other units didn?t have a heater as well (that would have jacked their prices up even more), which means I don?t have to pack it away for winter?I can run it all year long! On a scale of one to six, I give it a seven . . . it beat my every expectation! I felt like a little kid on Christmas day; no disappointment whatsoever! Keep in mind, I?m a picky 60 year old lady . . .LOL! I?m already telling all of my friends . . . one of which rushed and bought one the same day I did!

I purchased the PH3-12R-03 a few weeks ago and am extremely happy with my purchase. The AC arrived well packaged and ahead of schedule. (Plus shipping was free!) I am mechanically challenged, but the installation was so easy that I was able to set it up - on my own. After turning my new AC on, within a few minutes my living room was considerably cooler. It's also very easy to operate... With the remote control I don't even have to get up from my seat to turn the AC on! One features that has really been extremely helpful is the built-in dehumidifier. I didn't realize what a difference it would make in my apartment. It literally sucks moisture right out of the air. It does fill up quickly, but it's worth it because my living room is so much more comfortable. Instead of sweltering in the heat and humidity, I was able to relax and enjoy my apartment this summer. For our needs, this portable air conditioner great. We just use it in our studio apartment and it definitely cools down as if we had central AC! Construction of this product is very sturdy and the unit itself is very easy to set up. Great product!

This product is nice looking, compact and convenient. Love the programming options! It is more quiet than any portable or window unit I've experienced...more like a little "white noise" which is great for sleeping!

I bought the air conditioner in anticipation of summer coming. I wanted to get one before the seasons changed and prices went up. The product was shipped quickly, and FedEx dropped it off on time. My only complaint with that aspect of my purchase is that FedEx set it outside my door and walked away. A product as costly and popular as an air conditioner SHOULD require a signature, not be left for potential thieves. Unpacking was a breeze, and the unit arrived with all its wheels, and no scratches, dents, or dings. It is attractively designed, doesn't look too out of place in the room. That is an accomplishment in and of itself, due to this being a relatively large (small) appliance. As for installation, it was mostly easy. Fitting the hose into their adapters was somewhat difficult, but hopefully that just means they won't be comig loose during use. It is extremely easy to use. Although it did take me a few minutes to figure out setting the clock, and the auto on/off settings even though I was following the instructions in the manual. Electricty is included in my rent, so I don't know how energy efficient this unit is. That is why I only gave it a "3" rating above. I can't say anything positive or negative about it. If energy efficiency is one of your biggest concerns, don't use my review as a definitive measure of this unit's efficiency. I live in Central New York, and March isn't a month that air conditioners are very useful. However I have certainly tried out each function of the unit, and they all work fine. In reality, this unit is designed to cool an area more than double the space of my small apartment. Living on the top floor of a high rise, it can get brutally hot in the summer in here, and even in the winter, I have never once turned my heat on in the seven years that I have lived here. Usually I have the window open in the winter. So far, on the days that I have decided the room was hot enough to need cooling, this unit left me wanting a jacket in just a few minutes. lol

Such a great price and it does not lack quality at all. I am pleased with my purchase and you will be too.

This item is not what I expected. I expected a unit that would allow movement from room to room and really perform like the in-the-wall unit I had installed in my other house. This unit was advertised as a 12,000 BTU so I expected a lot of coolness in a 20x15 room and it doesn't cool nearly as good as my old unit in the wall. Plus whereaver you put it, it needs to be near a window to exhaust the hot air, which I didn't expect to need to do. So, no, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

This is a nice looking unit that cools and heats. I haven't been able to fully test the cooling but the heating seems to be working nicely. Easy to install. I'm not too thrilled with the remote as it doesn't indicate on it what the current temperature is so you can adjust properly.

As for cooling it does a good job. have not had to use the heating unit yet so can't comment on that yet

Installation was a snap, fitting perfectly in our double hung window opening. It started right up and has been perfect for our needs (12 X 24 room with a pretty high heat load). Do not consider it noisy at all. Have had a heat wave ( high 90's) here and so far this unit has not let us down. Well see what the electric bill is next month (by the SEER, it shouldn't be bad). Look forward to testing the heat function...we could use some cool weather here. Shipping was pretty quick (sat for a week at Fed-ex) and the shipping container was awesome! So far, this unit is highly recommended.

After searching for about six (6) weeks for a portable a/c and reading reviews, comments,etc, I decided on this Soleus, I have no regrets thus far it cools great, easy to use and has good looks. I am waiting on winter to try out how it heats. Shipping was fast and installing was easy,wish it was a little quieter

It cools the livining room after an hour of installation. I love the the size and the screen, It is just perfect for the price.

Shipping was quick and unit up and running minutes after arriving. Cools really well in my basement and the humidity is gone too. Only recomendation I would make is if you are deciding between sizes go higher than you think you need. I went bigger with this unit and glad I did. Only downfall is I wish unit turned off when temperature set is reached instead of just turning off compressor. Otherwise a/c is great!

We purchased this because we have 3 floors and the master bedroom is the entire top floor, which is closest to the roofline so the hot SW Texas summers are really ruthless and our bedroom doesn't seem to get as cool as it used to. The unit cools the room off very fast and we were able to tuck it away in a corner so you don't even notice it. The window connections was so easy to install, took about 5 minutes and we love the remote control feature. It's a little loud when the unit is on full blast but other than that, it's a great buy.

When I was researching the testimonials on this site I was trying to find out how loud the machine was - the manufacturer states it's at the same decibels as someone talking. Wrong. It sounds like an airplane taking off, but I am sound sensitive. It gave me a headache because my house is so small I had to sit next to it. Saying that, I think it is a workhorse - well built and cooled the house down in an hour. I recommend it, but just remember it is not quiet. The sound is the equivalent of the wall air conditioners in old motels. Maybe the manufacturer can work on that for the next model, then it would be perfect.

Ordered the Soleus 12000 BTU AC/Heater to use in a newly enclosed screen porch. I have windows on two sides (Acrylic) along with existing walls on the other two sides. Today was the first time I hooked it up for use in the screen room and was surprised how quickly it cooled the 20x12 space. The outside temp is 88 and the room temp is 78 after 1 1/2 hours. The only con I have is the unit is somewhat noisy, but can easily live with it. Great little AC.

My son installed this product in less than 1/2 hour. Before I could not enjoy the converted garage/den in my home. It was always 82 to 85 in the summer and I had to bring in space heaters in the winter. Since the SoleusAir A/C & Heater PH3-12R-03 was installed I live in this room! It stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The unit is much quieter than standard window units and my electric bills went down after it was installed. My central AC unit doesn't run 24/7 anymore. I highly recommend this unit to everyone.

My husband and I have a vacation home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This product heats and cools our master bedroom as well as the master bath and closet. Not only are we pleased with this product, but we have a larger Air and Water product in the main living space which cools and heats the dining area, kitchen and our sitting room. Once one finds a company like this that is reliable and saves money, we definitely bookmark them in our favorite section for future purchases.

I bought this item to heat/cool an enclosed motorcycle trailer that I would also use for camping. To test it though, I put it in my 20X22 game room and set it to heat. In no time, it had heated the whole room to 74 degrees. So I will use this not only in the trailer with a generator, but in an emergency, I will move it into the house and heat several rooms.

Bought 2 of these units to provide backup cooling in our server room. They are quiet and really blast out the cold air. I definitely would recommend this unit.

This product was easy to set up, except slider was too narrow to fill void in sliding window frame or door frame. Air Conditioner/Heater is well made and quite.

This product performs very well. My only complaints are with design. the remote control is useless since you have to stand over the unit in order to see the screen. The adapter for the window does not work on anything but a standard double hung window. I feel it could have been easily designed to work on other windows, or other adapters should be available. The dealer shipped the unit in great time and it arrived in perfect condition. Note, other reviews to the contraryt, I found my unit to be very quiet.

We decided to buy this product because we didn't want to spend a lot of money to put an air conditioned and heating unit in our 3-season room. We have used it numerous times and it works quickly and efficiently. The unit was packed well and was shipped quickly. We just love it!!

When operating, the unit is quite noisy. Changing fan speeds does little to effect the noise level as most comes from the compressor which runs in both heat and cool. The window kit is not adaquate for windows with sills as the adapter for the round hose won't allow installation unless you move the entire adapter up 3 or 4 inches off the sill. They do show an alternated hose adapter for the window end of the hose that looks like it might work. In general this unit appears to function as expected. The air heat temp leaving the unit is warm. This is all you would expect from a heat pump without aux heat. I hope this unit can supplement the HVAC needs in my home. I am considering the purchase of another unit for use in my office and to suppliment the cost of fuel oil. If you have areas that need supplimental heating and cooling this unit should work well. If you are live in an area where you are forced to select oil or propane as your primary heat source this unit could help lower your total overall cost of heating since electricity is cheaper than either oil or propane iin my area. The instructions could lowere the levels of confussion for people that do not have a general understand heat pumps by explaining the delays in turn on/off and switiching between heat/cool modes. there appears to be about a 5 minute waite between these operations, which is not uncommion for these type units.

It's difficult to rate this accurately as I bought it as a portable air conditioner and the weather has cooled so I won't be using it for that for another 9 months. It is also a heater, though. I set it up to try it out and everything seems to be working well. Set up was easy except on one page of the directions it says you only have to vent the unit when using the a/c, and on another page it says you have to vent it for both a/c and heat. I called the manufacturer and they said it has to be vented to the outside for both heating and cooling and that they are aware of the discrepancy in the directions. I wish it didn't have to be vented to the outside at all. Had I known that it did I might not have purchased it, but I'll keep it anyway.

Although I do have central air in my duplex apt., there is barely any air flow into the kitchen therefore cooking becomes unbearably hot during the summer or warmer months. I also needed a portable air conditioner because the windows are sealed shut. The Soleus Air, Heat and Humidifier seems to be working well. I thought it would have cooled a bit better, but perhaps I did not properly calculate the square footage and choose the appropriate machine. It does a good job. What I am extremely pleased about is the Soleus customer service. I had difficulties with attaching the exhaust hose on both ends and it tore a little. The service rep quickly told me to turn the hose counter clock wise to attach it (and I don?t know why it didn?t even cross my mind to try it in that direction??!) and it worked. Since I had mentioned there was a tear he said he would resend a replacement hose. The best part is he said he would send it at no charge to me, without me having to debate the charges. It was a pleasant call, hold time was a few seconds and he was genuinely pleasant. I am pleased and impressed!

My son lived in a small room of about 5'X7' for roughly six years. He needed more room now that he's in his senior year. We opted to fit our separate 13'X21' garage as his living space. The Air & Water portable air conditioner got it's test with the prolonged heat wave of 2011. Even with the midwest humidity the unit kept it's pace. The garage is now comfortable and at a fraction of the cost it would have been to install air piping from the home to the garage. Thanks again Air & Water!

the PH3 replaced two fairly new window air conditioners that we had installed in our Lake Cabin. The first night was a good test because it was extremely hot and humid. Within 2 hours of operation the entire cabin was completely cool at 68 degrees and stayed there for the entire night. We are so happy that we bought this product, it saved the rest of our Summer. I bought this as a replacement for another portable air conditioner and so far I haven't been disappointed. I have used it on the hottest days here where I live and it cools sufficiently enough.

I purchased this unit due to its smaller size and reviews that made me think it was a quality product. BUT I WAS WRONG! I live in Northern Minnesota............where air conditioning is a short-lived need. You'd think this a/c unit would be effective here, but it was NOT! The compact size was the appeal...but also the downfall. It could not hold up under a humid week, and it NEVER got my small bedroom cooler than 72 degrees. It filled up rapidly, and I had to put it on a small table in order to drain the water out of it....had to keep the drain tube in it constantly, in order to keep it from filling up over and over. DO NOT waste your time with this air conditioner!!!

Great product - affordable and convenient! Glad I selected this rather than a window AC/heater.
