Soleus LX-140 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner With 525 Sq. Ft. Coverage Area

Unit was at my back door within 72 hours (location NC). If I can install it, anyone can. Very easy, user friendly manual and easy installation. My old house, built circa 1935 has central heating (oil) and window AC units (which I discontinued using now). House is 950 sq ft. This unit has been keeping the entire house at a comfortable, dry 78 through a major heat wave including a string of 100* days (and that with the unit in "Dehumidifier Mode"!! just to experiment). Just received my first power bill and this unit uses no more power than the two window units I used. I was actually taking quotes on upgrading my entire heating system to a heat pump/AC. $4000 was about the best price. This unit was only about 10% of that. I am anxious to see how it heats in the winter.

This is the first time I purchased a portable Air conditioner and we are very impressed with how fast can cool the place. Of course you need a window to vent the air so we put ours in the master bathroom that is connected to the master bedroom and master closet. Connecting it that way it cools the bathroom, the closet and the master bedroom. It can cool our big master bedroom in 30 minutes. We are very happy especially the electric usage. We hardly use the central A/C of the house anymore so money wise the unit can pay for itself in 2 months. We live in Houston, Texas in a 2 story home about 3500 SQ. our bill in the hot summer months is about $350-$450 now it is $120. The unit is little noisy on the fan set to hi but you get use to it and it is not an issue considering saving so much money. We used to close the doors at night while we sleeping while it is running to keep the bedroom cool but now we eave the door wide open to cool the other area like the living room and hallway and still having cool bedroom. We are thinking of buying another one for the living room.

This has been another very hot summer and I purchased my portable AC to cool a new shop building I had built last year. While my square footage is a little above the rated capacity of the unit, it has perfomed very well under extreme conditions. During a 7-day period it was so warm outside, even at night, I don't beleive the unit shut off , but kept cooling and the shop remained comfortable even when outside temperatures approached 100 degrees. The unit was easy to install and began working as soon as i plugged it in. The price I paid was less than anuother source I investigated and the product was shipped very promptly. I was very happy with the shipping time.

This is my second one, it arrived fast and was easy to set-up. Went with the higher end unit because I did not want to purchase one every year,my original one is still in my bedroom running on the hot summer nights the other is in my living room where it can get over 100.

Due to the cool weather here in NCarolina, I only 'tested' the A/C performance which seemed good. My complaint would be that after only several hours using the heat at 75 the unit shut down due to a full evaporating pan! If this happens on heat - what will I expect on A/C? Will I be forced to empty the pan throughout the day?

After approximately 20 uses over 13 months, the Soleus representative just recommended that I throw the unit away. If you purchase this unit, please factor in a cost of over $20 per use. Efficiency is meaningless. In greater detail, I am a mechanical engineer, MBA, and patent attorney. I understand the fundamentals of how HVAC systems work and I am an attorney at GE. Just trying to throw a little credibility into the review. Below are the facts. 1. Ordered an LX-140 in July 2011. 2. Exchanged it because it would not turn on. 3. Received replacement unit in August 2011. 4. Did its job approximately 20 times. 5. After 6 months rest, stopped after 1 hour of use and will not turn on again. 6. Oct 1, 2012 Soleus service rep tells me that they have no service centers outside California and recommend that I discard unit after 20 uses. As comparison: 1. July 2010, Bought NewAir AC-14000H from A & W 2. Used 100's of times to Oct 1, 2012 (today for me) 3. Works great today....... Lesson learned: Buy another from someone that works. We bought from Soleus solely for color scheme. Silver unit would not fit in in an 1871 restored room. We wasted money on a Soleus unit because it was white and the reviews were positive. Best, John

i really suffer with migraines and heat can be a trigger. this was very easy to install, even fit in a 6'8" slider! haven't got electric bill yet, but i can't see it being more expensive then central air. love it!

This product was very easy to install. I have the sliding windows on the lower level and pull up windows on the upper level and this unit is the perfect solution. The LED screen makes it easy to operate with the light up icons to tell you what mode the unit is in. A very modern and clean look so that it can blend in (as much as a portable unit can) with the rest of the home. Best of all, it delivers on its promises. This portable unit cools/heat my entire lower level which is great for homes (such as mine) that do not have central air and heat. I would definitely recommend product.

After absolutely roasting for several weeks without air conditioning, I finally broke down and bought the Soleus LX-140 14,000 BTU Portable Evaporative Air Conditioner. Delivery from Air & Water was phenomenal! I placed an order on 8/30/12 and the FedX man was knocking on my door the very next day! I know the heater part works because my boyfriend didn't bother reading the directions and was puzzled as to why the air that was going out the window was colder that the air blowing into the house. Ha! We ran the a/c all day. Should have read the directions first and we might have had better results at actually decreasing the room temperature instead of just maintaining the temp. It was getting on into the afternoon when the temp inside the house usually gets up to 80 or more degrees and this unit was able to keep it at a comfortable 74 that was with the temp setting at 70 - which I realize now (after reading directions) should have been set at the minimum of 61 if I really wanted to get the room temp down. (I was under the mistaken impression that the 72 setting would turn the unit off once the room temp reached 72 but it does not - there isn't really an automatic shut-off or an automatic "on". The auto cycle they talk about is not really a feature that is useful - I wouldn't want the heater to come on in the summer at all and having the a/c cooling come on only when the room temp reaches 80 degrees is really too long to wait. If I wanted better results I would also have closed the doors to the bedrooms so the unit was just trying to cool the 540 sq ft living room instead of a 1450 sq ft house. I have tried the timer mode that turns the unit on at the time you set and turns it off at the time you can set. I can see that this feature would be useful when you know that your house heats up at 4 pm for instance. You'd want to set the unit to come on about an hour earlier than that so you could maintain a comfortable temperature on into the evening. I think the unit probably works best in this way - don't allow the house to get too hot before you kick the a/c on. The exhaust tubes remind me of a scene from the movie "Brazil". We have side to side sliding windows not the ones that slide up and down. The vertical installation of the exhaust tubing is absolutely UGLY and difficult to hide. And the a/c probably would be a little more efficient at distributing cold air if it sent the air "up" into the room instead of "out" into the room. But, as far as comfort level goes I'm satisfied with the performance. Noise level is not too bad - about as loud as a box fan set on high.

I was all excited to get this and for a week or so it worked great. now I'm better off with the windows open. I can feel cold air entering on one hose and hot on the other but the unit just does not cool the apartment anymore.

Set up was relatively easy. But after that - major disappointment. Followed all the instructions and got a high priced fan that blows cold air about two feet. If you sit in front of it you can cool down but who wants that. Purchased this product thinking I could at least cool down a 500 Sq Ft area (25 x 20 room). Forget it, after hours of running it moved the thermostat one degree. I will never purchase another product from this company.

Never owned a air conditioner before. Had to get one this year. Did some research and this unit is the ticket. Wife has a big garden an does alot of canning,So the gas stove in the kitchen throws off alot of heat.This unit cools the living room dining room and kitchen.Now we are cool as a cucumber.

This unit is a great solution. I found out that a 2-hose configuration is essential after I bought a single hose unit first for use in Atlanta. Portable AC units need over 300CFM of makeup air to cool the compressor and if you only use one hose, too much hot and humid air is drawn into the room(s) for the AC unit to compensate. This model is quiet, powerful and efficient but the outlet vents don't angle up high enough so most of the cold air blows downward toward the floor instead of up toward the ceiling. I disassembled the oscilating vent vanes to get it to blow higher into the room - now it works VERY well.

It was very easy to install, only took very little time and it cools our whole upstairs down to a comfortable temp. I love it and i tell everyone how much i do love it. One of my co workers bought one for her mother in law after she heard how much we loved having it.

Compared this products to many on the market..This one seemed to have the best feature set... Purchased it in July 2012..I live in the midwest...it is very very hot... this product required some serious adjustments to fit my window . I insulated the exhaust hose based on comments that I read during research on this product. The timer was difficult to set.... I finally got to work.... After the above mentioned adjustments the unit is running very well... and cooling great... I am cooling about 600 sq. feet... does the job !!

Air and Water company were great to deal with. I had lots of questions and they were very helpful. We have a huge master bedroom suite with 20' ceilings. There are only two of us and we hated to run the monster whole house A/C unit all night just to keep the bedroom comfy. This unit is quiet enough to run all night if we need. I started out using earplugs because I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep but it is such a quiet, white noise, I find that not only don't I need earplugs, but I sleep great with it running about 8 feet away from the bed. Installation was very easy and it seems to be very well designed and made. Very nice looking too. We use it vented to the sliding door of our balcony and it works great. Used a couple of kitchen sponges at top and bottom to insure a firm set in the door track. Remote control is nice so if you get too cold during the night, just turn it off. Highly recommend this.

I was back and forth about buying an A/C unit for my rental until my brother purchased his and I felt how well it worked in his place. It still took me a few days sweltering in my apartment to finally break down and order one. I bought the Soleus LX-140 and don't regret it one bit! One caveat I have to discuss is how hard it is to cut the window pieces to fit. It shows a person using scissors in the installation manual. You'd have to be the Hulk to cut those pieces in that manner. I carefully scored both pieces with a utility knife and cracked them into the sizes I needed. Otherwise, all is hunky-dory and literally chill at my place! :)

I was surprised at how well it was packed for shipping and it came just as promised. It pushes out the cold air really nice. I haven't tried the heater yet with 100 degree weather....think I will wait. I like it and was pleased with the company which was my first time buying from.

I bought this portable unit because our central air went out and wasn't ready to invest the money to replace it yet. Ir has been in the 90's and hit 100F several days this summer and this unit did the trick. Put it in the living room and used ceiling fans to disburse the cool air. I'm not sure about the cost to run it but it really doesn't matter when the temps are in the high 90's. I knew the power of a portable unit is limited but was pleasantly surprised by performance of the unit. Shipping was reasonably quick and the unit was well packaged. Easy installation and isn't an eyesore from outside.

Unit came quickly and arrived in good shape. Gave 4 stars not five as we are still evaluating the energy efficiency. Haven't had unit long enough to evaluate this. Window adapters do NOT work in all windows...only sliding windows. Our windows crank open so we literally had to remove the window and cut a plywood template of the window with cut outs for the window adapters. Sliding windows usually have the screen on the outside so the the hoses/adapter openings have a bug/rodent screen. Our screens are on the inside so we still have to come up with a way to screen the openings from bugs and maybe even small animals. Not very well thought out and certainly the claim that the window kit works for all windows is a false statement. The hoses also tend to fall out of the attachment rings on the back of the unit. There is no really way to "snap" them on so if you move unit even a little the hoses unattach themselves. VERY FRUSTRATING! Kind of loud when running fan at max and hoses look goofy. Having said all this, the unit works pretty well and I'm glad we have it with the 100 plus temps we've had this year. Will update this review when we learn more regarding the the energy efficiency.

FYI, you may need to use a hacksaw to get the window slide for the intake/outtake air supply tubes the right size for your windows. It has cooled down a fairly large room of about 400 sq feet but it took all night to do it. That's with one tube going. We need to hacksaw the other slide to get both tubes going. This is the biggest problem in the install. Also, our first unit was insufficiently packed and arrived with busted plastic parts on the back. We had to pack it back up and ship it back, waiting 7 more days for the 2nd unit.

The two issues with this unit are (1) the noise factor, even on super low for use in a bedroom, which is why we purchased it. (2) The other issue is with the exhaust connector to the window. On newly installed replacement windows you have to work at it in order to figure a way to install. We recently had our windows replaced and the window adapter was a challenge to get it to work, a little help with heavy duty packing tape (use clear) is kind of keeping all in place. We haven't used it as a heater or de-humid, yet, but as a cooling machine, it puts out.

It's better to start cooling before your room reaches 90 degrees because it takes much longer to cool, but point the airstream right at you if sitting in a chair, and it keeps a person really cool. Puts out a quite forceful amount of air for a good distance. Have not tried the heater yet, but the cooler does a good job if started early in the day. The graphics are interesting, and it is a very quiet machine. I am glad I purchased it. By the way, it is a good idea to insulate the exhaust hose when cooling because it radiates quite warm air.

This product came as advertised and was easy to setup.

I had purchased this unit about a month ago. First one literally did not work; they say make sure it works upon receiving. I did however plug it in and it came on, however when I needed it, the cooling part did not work. Therefore I would recommend checking all aspects of the unit. With this understanding it was a task to return it, I waited a week before I received a return slip let alone I had to rewrap it and drive it to the post office/UPS. I did not appreciate that leg work. (Being a little heavy and all). I received the new one and the BTU rating also comes into question, my old 8,000 btu unit was stronger and put more cold air out than this 14,000 btu unit. Hence, I will be returning it and will be receiving a full refund. I respectfully and simply do not understanding the positive feedback reviews. I would respectfully caution you on this purchase!

It is not very easy to install this A/C. The vents do not fit on my windows since most of them are very thin. The directions do not explain at the begining that you could use one or two of the vents, so I had to do extra work to make the two vents fit on my small window. when I turned 3 pages, it said if I wanted to just use one, then follow these directions. Also it would be better if the slats where at the top of the unit since my living room is so small, it hits us in the face. But it does cool down my living room and my kitchen, bathroom and hallway are not too hot.

This product is a joke. We've nicknamed it the space shuttle exhaust unit. Little did we know that this unit contains a large contraption of hoses to go from the window to the unit. This supposedly A/C unit blew cold air for two days and then lost it's chill. The advertising picture needs to show the contraption of hoses coming out of it so you know what you are getting yourself into. This thing is bulky, gaudy, and looks like something out of the 60's.

I am very happy with my Soleus XL-140 air conditioner. I am amazed at how quietly it runs. I searched the internet for hours looking for the right one that has the quiet operation, the energy star, and dual hoses. This one is exactly what I was looking for.

This product's best design are the vertical exhaust outlets which allow its placement closer to the wall than other units with horizontal outlets. Second most important are two exhaust outlets although this unit can be used with one or two. It has a colorful, animated digital display with icons that tell you what mode the unit is in, including whether the compressor is running or not. I called Soleus customer service who told me the compressor was piston type as opposed to a scroll. Piston compressors have been used for years and the quietness of this unit is a good 4 to 7 dBs lower than others. When this one arrived I could make an actual comparison with a Delonghi loner unit I was using at the time. This Soleus unit is quieter, but not silent, of course. The cool air it blows out is 25 degrees colder than room temperature which is a good benchmark of any heat pump. I'm using this unit in my 2-car garage on an as-needed basis. It takes up some interior space but I would rather have that than a window unit sticking out of my garage window. Also...this unit is portable, in case my house heat pump fails in the future. Installation is very good with my only difficulty being screwing the plastic ends onto the flexible exhaust tubing. This tubing is a good, tough grade because I had to use some serious torque to get the ends to screw on. I put some thought on how best to install and adjust the included window adapter and it was all quick and easy. I turned the unit on and everything worked right out of the box. You can place your hand on one of the exhaust tubes and actually feel the heat that is being removed. It cools and it heats at about 1000 watts of power which is less than a 110 volt space heater. It was priced lower than other units but is quieter and better designed in my opinion. I'm happy with it.

This product does everything it says it does. I am very pleased with the ease of operation. It pack a powerful punch from a small package. Recommend it for small rooms.

Overall a great product so far. I am only using the heat pump. a couple of things. If you want to get toasty in freezing weather, forget it, it's a heat pump. It will cycle at about 30-33 degrees above what the outside temperature is. It does as well as could be expected. I run it on Med fan because there is about a 5 degree temp drop in the output when on high. I don't mind the noise for I usually sleep with a fan during other parts of the year. I have yet to try the A/C, but I'm confident it will be OK. The water hose needs to be run outside if possible(I do) or set the unit up a little higher and let it drain into something. Overall, it's been great here in Texas where the winters are not consistently below 30 degrees. The price is definitely right and if I need another for a room, etc. I won't hesitate to buy. I researched alot of portable air conditioners before choosing this one and so far it works great. I live in the South and even in Feb we have had to use more ac than heat. So far in 80 degree humid weather you can turn this on and in 30 mins need to turn it down it has gotten almost too cool. Hope it holds up in the summer just as well. My only complaint so far is that the drain nozzle could be in a better place but after lifting the machine off the floor I have made an easier way to do it.

I built a 400sq ft cabin with lofts and was having trouble heating it this winter(I can't use propane). This unit was just what I was looking for. I have only had it a few weeks and use it for heating only so far, but I'm confident that the cooling will be just as good. When I received it, it was about 75 out side(Texas weather) so I tried out the A/C and put a thermometer at the outlet. It got the temp down to 49 degrees. When it got colder, a couple of days later, I did the same thing with the heat, 101 degree heat coming out. I had been heating with electric heaters, oil, etc. My electric bill has gone. I have had to empty the moisture holding tank a couple of times, but now I am running a hose through the floor. No problems yet. Great product, I love the remote. I'm looking forward to really testing it this summer.

I cool and heat a 20 x 32 cabin with loft. I purchased 2. 1 for the loft. Was really hot this summer and did not cool as much as I wanted it to but cooled great at night. The heat pump heats great. Heats the whole cabin so for. I have turned them both on 1 time. Run the one in the living room and turn the one in the loft when it has gotten really cold. I recommend you hook up the drain to drain outside. Never had to drain in the AC mode but heat pump puts out more water so I fixed the drain to drain outside. Has works great. Really recommend this product and air and water. They offer great customer service.

Upon delivery of the portable air conditioner / heater, we installed immediately. The area it was installed in stays very hot in the summer and the type of windows installed would not allow for a window unit. So I was very impressed I could purchase an air conditioner for this area because of the venting, this product take's that issue away fit's any window. Cooling was apparent immediately, I am very happy with this product, one small observation that I would want to see changed is the exhaust hose's for window's with little to no curtains it's sort of an eye sore, exspecially when the window's opening run's vertical, like a slider window (----). Alot of exposure. But cooling of this area 750 sq ft was no problem. Haven't had to use the heater yet but I'm sure it will be wonderful.

Works well. At 14,000 BTU it does not cool quite as well as my 10,000 BTU window unit but that's expected with this type of a/c. Many very nice features with various operating modes available. Not as "portable" as I thought as different window sizes require different baffle configurations -- cutting the baffle to fit one window may preclude it's use in another. I may order extra baffles to be able to more easily move to different rooms. Also, at 80+ lbs. it is a bit difficult to roll around on carpeting, but that's a fact of life with any a/c of this type.

Purchased a Soleus LX-140 14,000 BTU portable air conditioner/heating unit to cool/heat a room in our home. We received the unit on 07-11-11. In the 4 weeks of use, it's doing a great job of cooling room very fast, low noise, & seems to only use about 10kwh in a 8 hour period. This unit is used in addition to our central air unit because of the direct sunlight & air flow problems in that room. I would recomment improvement on the plastic exhaust venting for the window with better sealant. If you move the portable unit just a little, the venting tubes have to be adjusted each time to avoid external hot air from coming into the room.

Unit purchased for my husband's woodworking shop in Michigan. Only been in use a month or so, no complaints so far. He is very happy to have it in place. Since we haven't gotten an electric bill since installation, I really can't honestly comment on energy efficiency.

During Chicago's recent heat wave our portable air unit went out and we replaced it with this one. It was easy to use, it arrived when it was expected and it saved us from the sweltering and oppressive heat. This is a really great unit. Kudo's to all!

The product produces a strong cooling stream, although it is somewhat noisy. We are using it in a Florida room and it does a good job if turned on before the heat builds up. It does not have the capability of cooling sufficiently after the sun heats the room into the upper 80s. The dehumidifier works well and we have not tried the heating cycle.

Bought this for a cottage - 1st floor - about 650 sf. Ordering was simple, priced right, delivered as promised, very easy to install, works like a charm. This is a great product so far (have had about a month) - would definitely recommend it. Did a lot of research before buying.

Got this for our lake house. It has been a very humid summer and the unit has kept the house cool and dry. The space it is used in is larger than the specs unit is designed for, but it has been able to keep the main living, dinning and kitchen cool and comfortable. With use of a couple of table fans strategically placed, the cool air has managed to remove the humidity and reduce the temps in the bedrooms at the back of the house.

This did it all. I set it on auto and it simply took control. All I had to do was enjoy it. We had a little malfunction on the first one but Air-N-Water handled this problem IMMEDIATELY. They had a new unit to me within 5 days. That's pretty good since I am in Ohio and they are in California. If I were going to point out a drawback it does not seem to get rid of the water fast enough in super super high humidity areas. This is located in Ohio by a river so the humidity is extremely high. We had to build a small overflow to handle the problem. I would highly recommend this unit to EVERYBODY

This Portable AC is everything I needed when have no option for window/wall unit. Would highly recommend - it runs and works great - only issue is that when need to empty water holding tank (which is very rare - only 1x in 3 months!) but not easy to do - drain plug is only 1 inch off the floor and instructions say not to move unit when tank is full, so is cumbersome to empty and then takes quite a while until digital controls are capable of clearing and compressor is able to blow AC again :( I woke up at 2"30 am with no air and then was 2 hr ordeal to empty tank and for unit to "reset" so that compressor would produce cold air!

Cools very well and is much quieter than the window unit replaced. The window adapter that came with the unit really wasn't all that useful as I have large window and wound up building one from plywood. The only item I would suggest for an improvement is that the vent hose be longer.

I bought this to cool my hunting & fishing cabin in which I visit about 30-40 days/year. The unit is rated to cool a room upto 525 square feet. It works well cooling my family room that is 590 square feet. This also has a heat pump which I can hardy wait to try this coming Fall/Winter. For the six days or so using this, it has worked well!

Arrived in a week, product in excellent condition.This unit is not small/cutesey and definitely needs a designated space. No problem cooling loft-style home (living room, kitchen, dining area) with high ceilings. Installed easily in 20 minutes without need for instructions. Very easy to operate...but a little loud. Need to turn up the TV a couple of notches when on. After a year of research, I'm glad we made this purchase.

The unit was very easy to install. We had it ready to go in fifteen minutes.

I bought this product for use with my generator during power outages so we could have air/heat in one unit. For a test I used it to cool our garage (400 sq. ft) while I waxed the cars. The unit managed to keep it at a comforable temp even with 2 uninsulated walls and the unisulated garage door. Haven't tested the heat output, as I live in the south and heat is rarely an issue. You will need a dedicated 15 amp circuit. You could easily use an existing circuit, just make sure nothing else is on it.

Unit works very well in a difficult(hot) environment and much quieter than the window unit it replaced. The installation kit for venting to the outdoors did not work due to my unusual window size so I wound up building one from plywood and for that reason I wish the hoses were longer but all in all it seems a pleasant surprise as to how it works.

Cools very well. Have not had it long enough to use as a heater. The window kit bracket did not fit my window as tightly as I wanted so I made a bracket of my own and attached the window kit panel to it and it works fine and has a tighter seal. Very satisfied at this point after almost two months of summer use. It is louder than I thought it would be but I use it in room that is isolated from the rest of my home.

This was a win win for me. The unit works great cools the bedroom down in no time and even though the rest of the house is at 86 the bedroom is a comfortable 71. Thats win number one. Number two is; at first I thought this unit was too loud but I got used to it quicky, but I snore and apperantly loud at times. My girlfriend stayed over and after having it on all night she said she didn't even notice me snoring, which is rare! She loved the unit and even said she got a little chilly, all the better for me.

The Soleus LX-140 heat pump is perfect for our needs. Two years ago our upstairs AC unit died and right now a replacement is too expensive. We only use two rooms upstairs and Soleus LX-140 is able to cool them to a useable state in a short period of time giving us daytime use and nighttime sleeping comfort. Last summer we were using a fan to blow some cool air upstairs; this summer using the LX-140, with its automatic on / off feature, the first two months have delivered a decrease in our energy consumption over last year. We?ve recommended the Soleus LX-140 heat pump to several associates and friends.

Unit cools well. 2 Bdr. 1100 Sq.ft. ranch-style house is very well insulated so that helps. DESIGN FLAW: Air outlet louvers cannot be directed to allow cold air to go "up." They function exactly as designed, however, the design is flawed and does not allow the movable "slats" to be adjusted upwards enough. Air delivery goes straight out - horizontal - and cannot be adjusted for upwards air delivery. Considering that this is an A/C unit, cool air should be directed upwards to displace hot air near the ceiling. This is simple physics - hot air rises and A/C cold air should be directed upwards to displace the hot air downwards into the unit, and the design of this unit's air delivery louvers will not allow that. This is NOT a defective unit - it is the design of the unit. That said, I >DID recommend it to a neighbor.

I purchased 2 of these units for an addition. One of the biggest selling points was the "no water tank to empty" claim. This only applies if you like living in a flood plain. It takes less than 24 hours to fill the tank to overflowing. The unit does not shut down at that point. It continue to pour water out over the top of the tank and around the fittings for the drain line connection. This is AFTER a dedicated drain line was installed. There is an after market pump that should take care of the issue, but if definately should have been included in the unit to begin with.

Easy t set up. I use it in a three car garage aprox 750 sq.ft. It made working in garage a pleasure in 90 degree plus weather with high humidity. I also plan to use it in the house if needed.

This unit leaked water all over my floor. Even with the drain open and hose attached to the drain going directly into an bucket the unit would always leak. The leaks were coming out of all of the plastic seams and open spots on the bottom and sides. I am returning this ASAP before it shorts out! Besides the leaks it cooled the room effeciently in 100F The power consumption is quite a bit. Compared to my older Everstar 12,000 btu unit- the Soleus LX140 Unit is almost doubled in power consumption.

Received the unit on time. Packaging in good condition, no visible damage. Set up was easy, product appears to be good quality. After running for 2 hours in the AC mode, an error code appeared in the display. Unsure what this code means as no information is provided in the owners manual. Shut unit off for a while, then restarted. Unit ran for another hour, then error code reappeared. Unit does not blow cold air as expected. Have contacted manufacturer for information on error code, but no response yet. Very disappointed in the overall with my purchase so far. Unless Soleus or Air n Water can provide a reasonable solution to this issue I would not recommend this unit, Soleus or Air n Water for any purchase of this type of equipment. I may edit this review in the future if issues are rectified in a manner acceptable to me, the customer.

Compared this unit to three or four other brands. Was easy to set up in our sun room. The air conditioner is great. Cools the room and is much quieter than a window unit. If the heat pump works as good as the AC, I will be very happy year round with the unit.

We use the unit in our master bedroom and it has worked great from the start. Would definitely recommend it.

We purchased this unit to use in our sunroom which gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. The room is around 350 square feet. The unit was easy to set up and it is easy to use. Even though it is rated at 14000 BTU's, Our sunroom has no insulation and I think it may be too much for this unit to cool down.

We are very pleased with our Soleus LX-140. Like all portable air-conditioners it is not as pratical as a window AC, buit it was all we could use in a room with no windows. It was much less noisy than was expected, and the cooling power was even more than we needed in the room we put it in. The ability to use it with one or two hoses was also another bonus.

I am using the Soleus LX-140 in my Garage. About 500 square feet. It works fairly well but if I wait until the garage gets hot the Lx-140 can't seem to catch up.

I have struggled for years trying to enjoy my Florida lanai. This year after cold snap after cold snap. I finally coughed up enough to enclose my lanai with sliding windows. I purchased this unit to cool a 40' x 16" garage. So far it seems to do the trick but it's not very hot outside yet. The garage doesn't have a window so I only use it for short periods of time. Eventually I will make a bracket and vent it into the attic.

I use this unit to heat a 10'X 32' room plus a 4'X 20' hallway. SO far it has done the job. We like being able to time it to come on when we need it most. We won't know about the A/C part till summer. However so far the unit has worked great.

We use this unit in our server room. It keeps the room so cold I have to wear long sleeve outfits when I work in there. I have had no condensation nor have I had to empty the water overflow or drain it. It has been working around the clock beautifully I recommend this unit to anyone who is looking for a portable unit like this one. I have not used the Heat or Humidifier but I've used the A/C and Dehumidifier they both work awesome.

Quality construction, I test started the unit and all seems to work fine!

The digital temp set on the panel is not the temp the unit controls to. This is not a major problem. The units have been operating without a flaw for almost two months. My electric bill indicates they are very efficient. The night temps are now going down into the 30's and the unit's real efficiency will come out.

Unit with hoses attached is larger than the pictured. I am using the unit in a 250 sq ft planting room with two large area of glass to keep tropical plant for the winter. The unit has been used for about two weeks. So far seems to work well.

The units were easy to install. The only problem has been that the digital temperature reading you set is not the temperature it adjusts to. It appears the reading is 4-5 degrees F higher than the temperature it adjusts to. It still functions properly but it is a little disturbing when you look at the temp and it says 78 and the actual is 73. Not a big problem. This winter should test its efficiency.

I purchased the unit to help cool a room used by the Hermansons dance in Cuero, TX. The machine works great. The only problem with it is the temperature display only shows half the number. Other than that the purchase was easy and the product was shipped promptly.

The units are easy to install and appear to work well. The digital set point temperature on the three units I have installed all appear to read 4-5 degrees high. If you want the room temperature set to 74 degrees, the unit needs to be set to 78 - 79 degrees. The units are priced very competitively. $500 for a 1.2 ton heat pump is a great price. The local HVAC contractor wanted $4000 to install a 3 ton heat pump to replace my resistive heating furnace.

Works great. Our very old 3 ton unit quit during the height of our wedding season. I ordered this unit as an emergency fix to the problem of replacing the original A/C. This works well enough that I have not replaced the 3 ton unit yet. Now that it is cool outside, I have months to get the job done.

Received this unit, got it hooked up. Checked out all the functions and seems to work well. We have had a previous portable air conditioner and really won't be able to compare until the weather is hot, like July hot! But seems to be a good machine at the present. Easy to install, good directions.

I purchased a unit to supplement my central geothermal unit at a lake house. A couple of 6" holes through the wall, push the hoses through, and plug the unit in and the installation was complete. Could not have been easier. This unit also has the widest operating temps (24 - 106 degrees F) of any unit that I found on the Internet.

I recently purchased two of the Soleus LX-140 units for a call center data/telecom room that was having heat load problems and this unit has worked great for us. We really liked the ease of installation and the fact that a drain line along with a pump was not needed (the unit is on the second floor of a two story building). We will use this model again.

I am using two Soleus LX-140 units in a 950 Sq. Ft. office that is inside another building. The office area is solid brick walls with a carpeted concrete floor. I placed the units on opposite sides of the room and have run the exhaust through the floor. Outside temperatures have been up to 90 deg f and 95% humidity yet the two units have maintained temperatures in the office around 72 deg f. The noise levels are very acceptable. We are able to conduct meetings in the room with both units operating.

Your website and Soleus LX-140 was recommended to me from a contractor who had installed one. We had converted our two car garage into a work area and needed a unit that would take care of the heating and cooling needs for this space. Shipping was fast. Bought an air conditioner last year wish I had found this unit then. Cools a lot better, not as noisy.

We bought this machine to keep the air out of the our basement bedrooms. We previously had a 10,000 BTU machine that had the bearings go out in it. It seems like the old unit worked better than this unit at keeping the air cooler and did it faster. I was somewhat disappointed in this unit because it has almost 50% more BTUs but doesn't seem to work quite as well. Over all it works ok, not sure if I would recommend it or not, guess it would depend on the situation and how this unit performs over time. We have only had it a few weeks now.

I loved my friend's Soleus so much I bought 2 and I could not have made it through our sizzling summer without them. They are so easy to move around and attach/detach depending on where I want to use them. In comparison, my old window air conditioners looked so unhealthy I threw them out. Can't wait to use them this winter as heaters.

First off, I received the LX-140 on the date noted on my confirmation. Second, the unit was very easy to put together and get up and running. Third, the cooling has met my expectations. My office/studio that we built in the garage is a space of 8x15 with an 8 foot ceiling. There is only one window in this space. We are having a really hot summer with extreme humidity so it has had to work hard to keep the office temperature low. I am sure that if the humidity levels were lower, the unit would be even more efficient. I almost can't wait until winter so I can check out how well the heat pump works on this baby.

The customer service at Air & Water rates at the top of the list. Every phone call I made, every contact I had with them, during the sale or return was first-rate. The unit itself did not perform so well. Even though I made sure to check the BTU rating and get a unit that was far and above my needs, the room never felt cool at any point. The water leakage was a pain (the so-called "evaporative technology" is pure vapor) and the drainage system offered on the unit is a huge hassle to use. Not a great design or good engineering.

The humidity has been high here and I had to drain the water every couple of hours. I had to put the unit on bricks in order to get to the drain as it was too close to the floor to sit on carpet. I also ended up buying extra hose and drilling a hole through my outside wall to drain the water into my plants. The vents are plastic and the cover over the fan came slightly bent. The smallest indentation hits the fan blade. You have to go through all the vents to get to it and they are so cheaply made that I broke one of them just moving it out of the way. The unit works fine and I like all it's features, but I expected better construction and engineering.

This unit is used in a 864 sq' insulated garage with the temperature set at 80 deg F. With 100 deg outside temperatures it has maintained the set temperature and made the garage comfortable to work in. To aid the unit a fan is used to circulate the garage air. The only problem was that one day the unit had water running out on to the floor. Pulled the back and front off and found that the water tube from the pump (located in the bottom right front corner) had come off of the pump. Tightened up the tube clamp and reinstalled. Have not had any further problems with the unit.

The only concern we have is that the ICON for the compressor stays on. I have tried what different reps have told me to do and it still stays on. I know it has been awful hot here, so I don't know if it is suppose to work like that, but does keep the area cool that we have it in.

I bought this unit for my attic which I recently remodeled into a bedroom for my daughters. The attic is approximately 500 sq.ft. , and the Soleus LX-140 has done a great job of cooling it off. My only complaint is that when venting the dual vent out the window I had some trouble. I have small attic windows which are only 18" tall at the opening so I had to make my own modifications to make the vents fit, but other than that it has worked perfectly.

We have been using the air conditioning for about a month now and it keeps our patio very cool in the heat of the day. I highly recommend this product.

I use two units in an 850 Sq. Ft. office space. The units do a very good job of cooling the office. I need two units in this space but have had a total of 5 units due to mechanical problems. One unit would only operate for about 2 hours before the emergency condensate tank indicated full. The tank was indeed full but the second unit (operating within 12 ft of the other) the tank has never filled. Humidity was not the issue. The unit did not appear to evaporate the condensate as designed. A minor issue is the location of the drain line. A very low, flat container must be used to drain the tank but such a container is very difficult to find. That unit was replaced and the new unit operated for one day before making fan noises. The plastic fan was broken. Unit #5 was just received and put in service. The unit is very quiet and looks nice in the office setting.

Although it's louder than we had hoped, this product does an excellent job of cooling our converted attic, which becomes VERY hot in sunny weather.

I ordered this for my basement. It cools off the whole area and looks nice. I am looking forward to using the heater. The dehumidifier and ac are excellent and I received the product right away! It could be a little less noisy but it is not too loud.

I needed a unit to cool half the ground space in my home. This is fully enclosed space with a couple of windows and doors and concrete walls. The temperature was normally about the same as outside (around 90 degrees) -- too hot for my workshop. The Soleus 140 did the job. I was able to hook it up in 10 minutes or so and it is working well. The temperature drop is around 12 to 14 degrees and the humidity dropped 10 percentage points and is still dropping. The noise level is not bad. The cost was great and the shipping remarkably fast considering that the unit came across the country - only took a few days. I am very pleased with the entire purchase experience and would recommend both the unit and Air-N-Water as a supplier.

I have raised the unit off the floor. It is now sitting on top of a metal file cabinet. The hoses are two feet in length, and go directly to the window. Don't like the size of the unit or the noise. A person cannot hear a television or stereo, while the unit is on. It works better, but it will only cool down my home to 78 degrees on 90 degree days. The unit needs to run for hours at a time. Expectations were different for the cost. Unable to adequately seal off heat from the outside due to poor quality craftsmanship around window insert. I think swamp coolers work much more efficient.

The dual hose option really makes a difference in energy efficiency and ease of cooling my room. Built in dehumidifier and run off drain hose are ideal for long term daily usage. Great machine, a little pricey, but worth it. And it has a heater built in too so it will come in handy this winter as well.

It does not handle Florida humidity well. I had to make a stand to put it on, for the excess water to drain into a bucket. And the unit still 'sweated' on the cool air vent. The window system for in/out air flow needed help. I had to make an adapter and insulate the panel. It does get hot here. But I was only trying to cool a 23x8 room which I need climate control to put finishes on wood furniture. I bought a portable, to be able to use it on a generator if the electric goes out with a hurricane. I am having doubts that it will be able to handle it.

I live in a mobile home. It's always been hard to heat & cool the living, dining and kitchen, their all together. Trying to keep those three cool you freeze in the bedrooms and baths. Because the heat pump trying to get temp. Down or just the opposite in the winter. Cold in those 3 and sweating in the others. Since I got the Soleus LX-140 it keeps the heat pump from running as much as it did and the rooms stay nice and comfy.

Arrived in good condition, quick shipping, unit cools area as needed, not overly loud, makes these hot days bearable.

I use this unit to cool my 3 car garage which we've turned into my studio. It is a bit on the loud side, but since it's a studio, it is of no concern. It works really well... to the point that I can open the door from the garage to the rest of the house. There are times when the studio feels COOLER than the rest of the house! We mounted this unit up on the wall above my studio sink. It vents hot air to the attic and brings in outside air from a soffet (sp?) vent. Since it's above the studio sink, I attached a drain hose and it drains condensation into the sink. Works great! The first remote would work sometimes, and not at other times, then finally quit altogether (and yes, I changed batteries just to be sure!). This was a hassle since the controls for the unit are on top of the unit, and I'd mounted the thing to the wall above my head! Can you say LADDER?? Soleus sent a new remote and so far, so good!

We are very satisfied and happy with the product. It has performed to specs. We will recommend to friends.

When I started looking for an air conditioner I went through ten sites and all the reviews on most all the mfgs were terrible, too noisy, leaky, not cool enough etc. I wondered if anyone made a decent product and how these companies kept selling bad product. Soleus is alone in this field for good reputation and good reviews. I had previously bought a Soleus de-humidifier and its the best. Now I have a Soleus air conditioner and it's the best too. Plus it was cheaper then other 14000 btu models, but has a heater and dehumidifier built in. Easy to set up and cools off big bedroom fast.

This unit was fairly easy to install and cools great. It has been humid here so have had to empty the tank every 2 hours; however, the drain is so close to the floor I had to set the unit on two 12x12x1" bricks to get it high enough for drain to work well. Also, the fan intermittantly hits the protector cover located behind the vents - the cover came slightly bent causing the problem. It is easily corrected by pulling up on it; however, getting to it is a hassle - and the top louver, which is made out of plastic, broke while accessing the plate. Which means I probably won't be using the ocillation mode.

The Soleus LX-140 is a powerful unit it cools off our family room kitchen combination very quickly. It has taken awhile to get use to the size of the unit and the hoses that vent to the outside. They stuck out like a sore thumb at first but the cool air has helped me to forget about them. We are glad we made the investment. I hope it will warm the area as effectively in the winter.

Dissappointed with it considering the cost I paid. It takes much longer to cool the room down than what I anticipated and the unit has to be on high all the time. It is very loud. It is huge. It doesn't turn off automatically when the temperature is reached, it continues to run. The temperature is off by five or more degrees. It fits the window poorly. The insert hose panels are wobbly and not stiff or firm. With the unit running the window insert doesn't stay put. The hose adapters come unhooked from the insert hose panel. You really need several extra hands to install it, and must keep checking it to make sure it is still together. Have been unsuccessful in insulating around the window insert. Gaps where window is not square. Brand new building construction, only four years old. Heat penetrates from the exhaust hose and intake hose making my home warmer. It wasn't functioning properly with one hose, so I had to install both hoses. The hoses are very ugly going up to the window. I have a large picture window that goes to the ceiling, and slides open from side to side not up and down.

I rented a space to open my new business. The shop only has a glass door and 1 picture window (which does not open) This Soleus LX-140 is perfect. I had a carpenter put 1 circular hole in the cinder block wall for the exit air exhaust and a smaller hole for the drain tube for water exhaust so I do not have to empty buckets of water. I am using the shop air for the air intake I will just clean air filter regularly. I would recommend this Soleus LX-140 to any one who needs cooling/heating in a space that doesn't have the capabilities for a window unit. Even though this unit will work with a window - all the parts come with it. It is cooling an 800 sq foot space. It is July and today it hit 95degrees. We were cool. And THE PRICE WAS GREAT! I searched the internet for days to find a large capacity air conditioner for the best price. I found it! the Soleus LX-140 is it!!

I did a lot of research before finally deciding upon the Soleus LX-140. I felt very happy to have found Air & Water because not only did they have by far the most competitive price but the additional discount that day was an added bonus. Additionally, they have excellent customer service.....a rare commodity in this day and age. I purchased the air conditioning unit online and it was delivered within a week. The only annoyance I had was that the instructions didn't seem very clear and the sliding piece on the window kit did not make sense to me, which could probably be because I'm not that mechanically-inclined. However, once I gathered my bearings about how the pieces fit together, it was so simple to get the a/c up and running. The unit itself looks great, very compact and sleek design. As far as the cooling ability, I couldn't be happier....and it was installed during a heatwave and still held up perfectly. The faceplate and function buttons are pretty self-explanatory. Just by looking at the buttons on the faceplate, I was able to figure out how to set the timer - another great feature. And I love that there is no water pan to monitor and empty. So far, I have only used the cooling function but it is great. The unit cools the space quickly and has minimal noise for the power that it puts out. I like that you have the option of fan speeds and whether to oscillate. Overall, the unit itself is really great and lives up to the cooling expectations. It is a great bargain for the price, especially considering that not only is it an a/c but also dehumidifier, fan, and heater. Great product....great retailer.....no complaints whatsoever. This unit is one of the best purchases I have ever made.

We shipped this and another Soleus Air portable to our home in the Bahamas. Regular window units deteriorate very fast there due to the salt environment and are cumbersome to install/remove. Selection was great! Price was very good, purchase and shipping were fast and efficient. Packaging was very durable. We will definitely look to Air & Water again for future purchases.

The unit arrived slightly damaged (a piece that controls the oscillating vent was damaged). The customer service team acted quickly and sent me another unit within five days, but it too was damaged (again, an oscillating vent piece). Quality control is obviously an issue. As for the unit itself, it operates very well, keeping the programmed temperature even in our 105 degree heat wave. It cools our 380 sq. ft. room well. Even though the reservoir tank showed no water in it (we unscrewed the drain plug to check), leakage occurred. A drip pan has been placed under the new unit to protect our carpeting and underlayment. The unit's controls are easy to program and the remote works well. The unit is sightly noisy, but nothing that can't be controlled by either adjusting the fan speed or turning the volume up on my television.

Unit was too small to cool the area which was suggested in the square footage guidelines.

During the summer month, we have about two to three weeks of triple digits temperature here in Portland Oregon. This unit really made it very comfortable during those days.

Take it out of the box and plug it in. Simple and easy setup works outstanding.

Ideal for cooling indoor garden.

Summers can be hot and humid along the southern coast of South Carolina. Condensation collected in the drip tray of my Soleus LX-140 quite frequently and it would shut itself off. To solve this sticky situation, I placed the unit on a sturdy table and connected the drain tube that came with the unit to a plastic designer waste basket. The unit ran cooler and more efficiently. I now empty this basket onto the plants outside of my office; I have to tell you they are very happy with the Soleus LX-140 also. Thanks to all at Air & Water, INC.

Pleasantly surprised by excellent quality! That is the way it always should be, but is not.

I'm using the Soleus LX-140 in a garage loft which is about 700 sq ft. It heated the area in freezing weather and dehumidified with great results. The bikers were very comfortable and their outer wear dried from the wet weather so they could ride the next day. I'm sure that they will be just as comfortable during the summer months when the A/C is put to use. It is a great portable unit, one suggestion: place it on a platform a few inches off the floor for easy drainage on those extremely humid days. The remote control is easy to operate the unit. The control panel tells you exactly what the unit is doing. It is also quieter than a window A/C unit.

xmlnsnt of older unit. It cools much better than our previous one, more compact, and less noisy. Sleek design, compact, more features than anticipated. It is a versitle product. The combination of heater and air conditioning will be useful for all seasons. The dehumidifier is also a nice touch.

I purchased a SoleusAir LX-140 for our server room. It works great for my needs, as it has an optional setup that allows me to pull the hot air from the back of the server rack straight to the air supply for the A/C unit, making sure the servers never heat up the air in the room to begin with. I have found that units that allow pulling the hot air into the A/C vs. blowing the cool air onto the front of the servers work much better for server rooms. I would recommend this unit to anyone who has a small server room to cool. I had a great experience, and will be back again when I need to replace the new SoleusAir unit in a few years.
