Everything I was looking for to heat my garage.
I just got this heater and can't wait to put it to work. I am having an electrician put in a new outlet just for the heater. The garage is not insulated and money is tight. I actually went to the dump/recycle center and got styrofoam boards and pieces and put them between the studs and over the garage door. It works great but still not warm enough to go out and work in it - around 50 degrees. I am so excited to warm up the garage with this heater. It is a great size so I won't be tripping over it. I gave it a 5 star because it is everything that it was said to be. It came super fast in the mail and with the great customer satisfaction you can't go wrong. Enjoy!

Great Heater!
I have had this heater for over a year now it is a great product heats fast keeps garage warm if you leave it on 24hours a day the power bill will be high I turn it on when I need to do some work in the garage and then turn it off when I'm done makes a big difference in the power bill. I love this unit works just like the heat in my house keeps garage nice a warm.

Excellent product.
Purchase this to keep me warm while working in my garage and since I purchased it we had extremely cold weather set in and I have run the new heater to maintain an above freezing temp to keep pipes from freezing. It has done that really well and not have to run too often. Great product. Very Happy.

The heat is on
This product is smaller than you might imagine but it heats up a zone very nicely. We are using it in a large warehouse and so we move it where we want it. In a smaller space such as a garage, I suspect it would do very nicely. The toughest part of it is the plug. We had to wire in a breaker and an outlet to be able to run it.

Very loud. Expensive to run. And doesn't heat up
Overall. I would buy something else don't get this.

I had my doubts
Please allow me to set the scene. It's a balmy 36 outside and my garage is way to cold to work in. I was ready to throw in the towel and go in the house when my regular UPS guy arrives with the heater I ordered. We exchanged pleasantries and I tore into the package to find a heater that although appeared to be extremely well built but was obviously way too small to heat my 550 sq ft garage. Man was I wrong, this thing kicks a**. After running about 30 min my garage was 60 degrees and climbing. Within an hour I had shead my jacket and sweatshirt and was working in a short sleeves . I adjusted thermostat (which works flawlessly) to hold the current temp and worked comfortably well into the night. I'm a very happy camper. If your looking for a heater for your garage that is well built, and actually works better than the manufacture claims, then you can't go wrong with this heater.

Great Garage Heater!!
Overall, we are very happy with this. We have a garage that gets pretty cold, so having this heater works perfectly in making it feel warm. Plus it is small enough it doesn't take up much room!

Good heater for the money!
I was expecting a larger unit when it came in the mail. Although this was misleading. I have a 480 Sq. ft. garage that is not insulated with 10 ft. high walls. On a 20 degree day, I turned the unit on and left for approx. 35 minutes. The garage had warmed to almost 50 degrees. Within an hour the workspace was comfortable without gloves. The unit is a little loud, but didn't really notice in the shop. I just turned up the radio a bit. Very happy with the overall performance of this unit.

This product is AWESOME!
We have a 20x30 insulated shed. My husband wanted a heater for it. We plugged this in when it was very cold outside and it immediately heated the shed up to a comfortable 65 degrees. We were pleasantly surprised at the low cost too! We are very satisfied with it!

Very happy with this heater
Does a great job of heating my 500 square foot un-insulated garage. The only thing that was a surprise was that there is no on/off switch on the unit. We just flip the circuit breaker for the receptacle it is plugged into.

Very fast shipping, upon arrival I built a hanger and had it installed in about 20 minutes.
Very fast shipping, upon arrival I built a hanger and had it installed in about 20 minutes. Plugged it in, flipped the circuit breaker and it was running. Total installation time was about 35 minutes. we have had abnormally cold nights getting down to the low 20's. I have the thermostat set at less than half way. Of course I kept check on the temps for a few days, and whenever I have gone out it has been comfortable. I have been working out in my garage the past few days and I checked the temp with a thermometer and it has always been a consistant 55 deg, no matter if I check it at bedtime or first thing in the morning. My garage is 24X24 w/ insulation but no sheetrock. I did insulate the garage doors w/ 1 foil backed rigid foam. My neighbor has come over twice to check the heater. I think he is going to be in touch with you. Very pleased with the product, shipping and especially the price. My neighbor is an electrician and has told me that the heater should be pretty economical to run. however I haven't had it long enough to compare billing yet.

Great heater especially considering the price
I have a 450 square foot garage with a high ceiling. This heater works great when positioned on the floor. Automatically cycles on and off to maintain temperature. Quickly takes the cold edge off the garage on the winter days. Compact, durable and a Great value.

A little noisy but works well.
This unit works better than expected. Heated my 450 Sq. Ft. shop from 32 degrees to mid 60's in two days. This was amazing considering there is no attic insulation and the outside temperature has been rumbling around 0 degrees. Once the attic is insulated this heater should be a resonably energy efficient way of heating the space.

Answer:
I am using my uninsulated garage as a sewing room office. It is way too cold. I tried to use recycled styrofoam and a small heater but it's still in the 40's. I have faith that with the safety features of this heater and the customer service and return policy, I believe this will be an excellent choice for heating my workspace. I just have to put in a new outlet, which I was told no problem. Looking forward to this product!

Question:
NewAir G56 5600 Watt Electric Garage Heater--Can i use a 220v receptacle with a 30 amp double pole breaker? I have a receptacle thats different from the cord on this heater, so was just gonna put a new end on the cord so it fits.
- Anonymous on 11-17-2014
Answer:
The heater uses a 240V circuit and a 30 amp circuit.
- Christine M. on 11-18-2014
Answer:
The 30amp, 220v breaker is fine but......the receptacle you plan to use is probably rated less than 30amps, fed by a less than a 30 amp wire. The heater draws 30amps so......putting a different plug on the heater cord to match your receptacle isn't going to be proper . Also, the wire from your receptacle to the breaker must be 30amp rated(#10 copper wire). However you solve the problem, keep all the components 30 amp rated. Hope this helps.
- Fred A H. on 11-18-2014
Answer:
Obviously, you will want to match the receptacle configuration to the plug configuration in order to plug the unit in. BUT, make sure the wiring to the receptacle is adequate for the amperage: minimum 10 gauge (copper) for a 30 amp breaker. A quick google search for "amps, wire size" will give you lots of info. If the wire size is too small, you could burn your building down.
- Rick S. on 11-17-2014
Answer:
Hello, from a user of this unit, yes you can change the plug, but it may void the warrantee. 30 amps is more than enough for the unit's requirement. I've used mine for a year, a good unit, a little noisy, but great for my guitar repair shop in my insulated 26 by 26 garage. it gets to 70 degrees F. Very comfortable. Good luck, keep warm. Tony
- Anthony M. on 11-17-2014
Answer:
To be honest, I'm not sure. You need to talk to an electrician for that purpose. All I can tell you is that I have a double garage with an insulated roof and it keeps the temperature of the garage up enough that I can work comfortably in it during winter.
- RICHARD A. H. on 11-17-2014
Answer:
As long as the outlet has the same amount of wires as the plug you should be fine. Some 220 outlets have 3 wire and some have 4
- Jay M. on 11-17-2014
Answer:
You should change the receptacle not the cord cap! Or you can direct wire it and use the breaker as your disconnect means if it is in sight and within 50 feet
- Doug B. on 11-17-2014
Answer:
You can but I would recommend replacing the receptacle rather than the plug

Question:
Can I use heater for my living room, which is combined with dinning area and kitchen. It is always cold in winter even with Central Heat Pump running?
- Iftekhar A. on 12-26-2014
Answer:
It is a 240v unit and will not plug in to a standard outlet in your house. If you have a circuit available it would work ok but it is not standard
- John C. on 12-26-2014
Answer:
It should heat the space just fine but you will need a 220/240 volt 30 amp dedicated circuit. This is not a 110 Volt device.
- John D. on 12-26-2014
Answer:
Don't see why not. May not be the most attractive heater for the living room but I'm sure it would work.
- Jay M. on 12-26-2014
Answer:
What Fred said is correct. You would have to have a 240 volt, 30 amp line and receptacle installed if you do not already have one. Once that is setup, this unit should be able to cover the room along as it meets the approximately 560 sq ft coverage area.
- Mark S. on 12-26-2014
Answer:
Unfortunately this unit has a 240 volt, 30 amp rated cord and plug. Your living room, kitchen, etc. typically have 120 volt, 15 or 20 amp rated receptacles. This unit needs its own 240 volt, 30 amp circuit and receptacle.

Does this eat a lot of electric, does it cost a lot to run?

- Sherry B. on 01-02-2015
Answer:
I've had my heater about a year and it works great in my un insulated garage for occasional use. I can't tell any difference in my electric bill. My only slight complaint is that it's a bit noisy.
- Steve B. on 01-02-2015
Answer:
This unit uses 5.6 kW per hour and the cost would depend on what your electricity rate is. The US average is 12.58 cents per kWh, which would put this unit at a cost of 70 cents per kWh based on this average.
- Mark S. on 01-02-2015
Answer:
No set it to what u need and it kicks on and off as it needs to.It is the best heater I've bought ,my bill is cheap
- nina n. on 01-02-2015
Answer:
If you are using it to heat up a garage to work for the day, it heats up quickly. If you are using it to maintain a comfortable temperature in the garage everyday, it does use a lot of electricity and can be rather costly.
- Teresa S. on 02-02-2015
Question:
Is the heater loud? Does any one know the Db rating?
- john h. on 10-19-2015
Question:
Not familiar with plug requirements - not familiar with what a 240v outlet is with 30amp circuit -not electrically inclined. is it a special outlet or standard outlet you'd find anywhere in your home?
- Anonymous on 12-10-2015
Answer:
It is NOT a standard 120V household outlet.. You will need a 240V plug in and a dedicated line for it.. It is a powerful heater tho.. Puts out serious heat
- Joseph B. on 12-11-2015
Answer:
YES, special plug that you can find at home depot and requires 3 wires of at least 10 gauge for the 30 amp breaker. Well worth the effort, heats my 2.5 garage to 80 degrees when temps are in the teens.
- michael r. on 12-10-2015
Answer:
Hello, As mentioned by these other helpful customers, it is different than the standard 120 volt outlet you would find in your home, though you may have a 240 volt outlet in your garage. We would also recommend contacting an electrician to make sure you have a 240 volt, 30 amp line to use this heater.
- Mark S. on 12-10-2015
Answer:
It is a special outlet. Standard outlets in your home (in the USA) are 110 volts at 15 or 20 amps. Electric clothes dryers are sometimes 220 volts. You will likely need to wire a circuit from your main breaker panel. If you are not electrically inclined, you would need an electrician.
- Kimball D. on 12-10-2015
Answer:
The receptacle is the same kind of setup as your electric Dryer. This is a 220/240v outlet. Regular outlet's are 115/120v.
- Jeff F. on 12-11-2015
Answer:
this heater takes a special plug, it's own 30amp fuse/breaker and a heavier gauge wiring to handle the load. it will not let me attach photos of what i did. you can contact me at fattire75 at gmail for the pics if you like.
- Michael C. on 12-16-2015
Answer:
240v is found in your home powering large appliances such as your range hvac unit but it is not your normal outlet and 120v used throughout your home. If you do happen to have a spare 240v outlet in your garage it also needs to be on a 30 amp breaker and be the correct spade configuration. Your best bet, do to your limited knowledge of electricity is to find a licensed electrician to give you an estimate to install the proper outlet for this heater. Un hbElectricity is a seriously dangerous item for anyone without experience and can cause great harm fire and even death to the novice.
- Robert J. on 12-10-2015
Answer:
Its not a outlet that one would normally have in their house. You will need to have a electrician install one but it might be costly depending on where your power panel is in relationship to where you want to plug in the heater.
