just what i needed
perfect heater for my 16x24 shop -- insulated walls, not ceiling -- purchased a king Model #: EKB2450TB that wasn't getting it done at outside?? temps less than 35 -- the dr 966 is clearly superior in every aspect -- air-n-water was fantastic to deal with -- best price, great customer service -- most impt -- they did what they said, they said what they did -- hard to find these days

Dr Heater 966 Colorado
I am very pleased with this heater. The 3000watt and 6000watt is a handy option. It puts out a good amount of heat and you can feel warm air from 7' away. I have a detached 2 car garage with uninsulated walls, insulated ceiling, insulated garage doors. I have been taking temperature readings and in the middle (height wise) I have seen 65 degrees when it's 25 degrees outside. The heater does reach its internal thermostat temp regularly and shuts off. This is my only argument with it but I think i can remove it and put it lower (just the internal thermostat lower to the floor) so that it's seeing a lower temp and will continue to run longer. I work on my car all winter and so far I have been very comfortable. Everytime I gonin the garage after letting it warm up for 30 minutes, I stsrt to laugh because of the huge temp difference from outside compared to inside the garage. The noise level isn't too bad. It sounds like a box fan on low to medium. But the heater shuts off periodically if your garage is well insulated so you do get fam noise breaks, but the fan noise isn't bad at all. You can carry on a conversation with someone else while it's running.??Instructions say use 10GA wire but I used 8GA because the wattage ratings at home depot say that 10GA carries 5700 watt max. With 220V I did not want to overheat the wire. I also got a heavy duty 30A switch for in the garage for quick shut off along with a 40A breaker in the house.Overall I'm extremely impressed with it and glad I chose this heater.??

Great heater for the price
paid just over $150 for this heater. Hard to beat the value. It is made in China though, AnW need to change the description. It comes with L shaped wall bracket and looks great installed. In 6000w mode, it kicks out some serious heat and my 2 car insulated garage warms up nicely. It's not a Berko, but for occasional use, I think it will be a good investment. Super easy to install too. The instructions are horrible though. It's also fairly quiet when running. I could feel the warm air stream from 10 feet away. I still feel guilty for not getting a US made Berko, but I am waiting for them to build the heater I want, a remote controlled operated with large digital temp read out. The heater is mounted 8 feet off the ground, but I could still reach up and adjust the temp without a ladder.??

Question:
Why did you buy this item?
Answer:
Good reviews on amazon and was used in the same small 2 car garage as mine. The high-low switch is nice to use less electricity if I can.

Question:
Is this an infrared heater?
- Anonymous on 11-12-2015
Question:
Does it have an off position so I don't have to turn off the breaker?
- Anonymous on 01-27-2016
Answer:
No it just has the thermostat setting. When I wired mine up I installed my own switch at my workbench. That actually worked better for me because I can turn my lights and everything off at the same place.
- Paul B. on 01-27-2016
Answer:
No- you have to shut it off at the breaker panel.
- Gary S. on 01-27-2016
Answer:
If the thermostat is turned all the way to the left the heater does not come on. Unfortunately the thermostat on mine, after only a couple of months, has gone bad and doesn't always turn off when fully turned to the left, I have taken to turning my breakers off.
