Danby DIM1524W Ice 'N Easy Portable Ice Maker with Delayed Start

We bought our icemaker 7 years ago. I was surprised that it held up so well and performed efficiently on a consistent basis. Mine recently stopped working and figuring out the problem has not happened. We decided to replace it with one just like!

my son gave me one of these about 3 years ago. it has been an awesome product! it finally quit on me about a week ago i am looking to buy another one, for the price it has saved me $200.00 a year, since i dont have to run to the store to buy bags of ice. again i would very highly recommend this product to others. my problem is finding a store that carries them

We have used this ice machine for 5 years!!!! We've had a few problems, but for the most part we have been very pleased with it's performance. It's been used year round and always makes plenty of ice for our needs. We are just now looking for a replacement and want to get another Danby, but can't find a store that carrys them so we're looking online.

The packaging was just right. It came in excellent shape w/ no damage. We filled it up, plugged it in, started the machine, and had ice in less than 15 minutes. We changed the size from the medium to large which worked better for us.

I am a marine that back from Afghanistan 7 months ago. This ice machine was mailed to me and I used this machine in 130+ temperatures to make my ice. Dirt has circulated into the machine, and sometimes into the ice, and I ran it for 4 months, then mailed it home. I cleaned it thoroughly and I have been using it ever since every single day and it has never failed! Luckily I didn't give it away thinking it was just some cheap ice machine. I am very happy with it :)

Bought this machine and used it for seven months, it broke the plastic parts of course, sent it to authorized dear to fix they had it for 5 months and said they could not get parts from Danby, A real waste of $230.

I liked the amount of ice it produced and being able to set a timer to start it but it broke in about a month and I returned it to the store that I purchased it from. I bought the same one online since it wasn't sold in the store and it broke just after 30 days and I had to send it to an authorized repair place where it sat for about 3 months. (just as summer was ending.) The repair place kept telling me they had to wait for Danby to send them the part. I called Danby and they finally got the part (surprisingly.) It worked for a few months and broke again a different piece, and I had to return it to the repair place again. It sat there another 3 and a half months. Again they said they had to wait for the part to be sent from Danby and that Danby kept sending them the wrong part. I called again and the part finally arrived. Three times I had to send it to be repaired (all different repairs) and they had it in the shop for longer periods than I had it in my home using it. It works great when it does work but if it breaks, good luck getting it in a reasonable time.

Danby plainly makes a poor product with a very low quality of parts. Our first one had a failed electronic part in which Danby replaced the entire unit. The second unit failed in two months with a broken shaft mount inside, which Danby would not fix. Do not purchase.

We use this ice maker in our office and it has worked out quite nicely.
