Danby DDR5009REE Premier Series 50 Pint Room Dehumidifier

I'm living in a temperate rain forest...north Cal Rewoods to be exact and this Danby DDR 5009REE is doing a fantastic job of getting the humidity down in my small place...gone are my winter days of condensated windows & such high moisture that even my copy paper was limp to the touch...I also know that modern technology devices such as printers, computers, all my recording gear & my guitars & amps, will a live a lot longer and happier lives in their newly dehumidified environment...A breeze to set & empty. Others have complained about the noise, but I feel the design is as quiet as possible for the given task it must perform & doesn't bother me!

old one broke after 20 year. bought some differant things from air and water so i looked at what thy had. the dehumidifier arrived in short order. put in the basement to control the moisture, seem to work good and not to noisy. wife loves it.

The best thing about the Danby is that it is not as loud as other units I have tried or owned. There are two fan speeds and the digital controls are nice as well. The only gripe I have is that the fan is on all the time when the unit is on - the fan doesn't turn off when the set humidity point is reached. I'm not sure what the point of having the fan on full time is. All in all a very good product (as long as it lasts a while).

This dehumidifier start producing water when you put the % of humidity between 30 and 35. During the 2 weeks that I had it, the % of humidity was working at 60% and was not making any water, so a friend told me to lower the % to 35 and BINGO, the next morning I had water from the humidity. But nobody from the technical support told me this. They thought that the equipment was not working correctly and gave me the solution to change it. So, now it's working very good. Thanks.

The best dehumidifier I ever had in my basement of 1100 Sq ft, it keeps my basement temperature and humidity at a comfortable level. Thank you for a great product. P.S. I love the remote control.

Unit seems to have solid construction. We like the two readout displays, one for air temperature and one for current relative humidity. The humidity readout is also the display used for setting the desired humidity, in increments of 5% from 30% to 90%, though we don't understand why anyone would want a humidity level over 75%. We also like the two fan speeds. We found that we can mostly run the unit on low, unless we've left it off for a while and we want a faster reduction in air humidity. The water storage drawer is well designed and easy to remove, carry and pour. We tried it once with the included drainage hose, which worked fine (though the hose might be considered by some to be a bit flimsy, though it's plenty long), but in our house the required placement of the unit for hose drainage is not as effective for dehumidifying the house. So we're using the catchment drawer instead, which works quite well. The noise is about equivalent to a small window unit air conditioner, and so not at all unpleasant to us, though we mostly leave the unit in the basement so we can't hear it running anyway. Our biggest disappointment is that the unit is made in China (it seems most, but not all, dehumidifiers are), as we'd much rather buy American-made products.

We are very happy with the unit. It works great and is whisper quiet. It gets the job done!
