Unique and useful, but a "version 1.0" product At this capacity, this product has no competition, if you're looking for ducted intake and exhaust and have the machine sit outside a cabin, shed or house. It's fairly noisy, but while inside with windows closed you can't hear it, which is the point. I suspect a guard dog might have trouble hearing intruders if they come from the machine's side. Notes: -There is a single fan for both the condenser and evaporator coil. It has 2 speeds. When you change the speed, it changes the efficiency of the machine, just like for a window air conditioner. I would have preferred separate fans. There isn't much static pressure for the conditioned air so keep the ducting as short as possible and the number of turns and twists to a minimum. Keep the mesh filter clean. -Air is sucked in the sides and exhausted through the condenser coil (the coil that's visible). Any grass in front of it yellows out and dies from the heat. -It sprays a little bit of water on the right side of the condenser (using the condensate). -Unfortunately, water condenses on the surface of the machine, on the side opposite to the condenser coil, and on the bottom, so the insulation there is lacking -If your pet sheds, expect to have to vacuum the provided filter mesh every few days and at least once a week. -Expect to have mold growing inside the unit after a year, because the filter mesh is too coarse and will let through mold food that will get caught on the inside (evaporator) coil. I recommend using a filter box instead, like the Fantech FB-6, on the return. -Don't even think of installing this without the mesh filter or some filter on the return, or it will likely die fairly quickly. This is something the installation instructions should emphasize. -The provided flexible ducts are not insulated. The installation instructions don't explain well how to hook it over the ports (remove or keep the screws?). I suggest using instead insulated flexible ducting. Even 4" PVC is an improvement.
