The portable air conditioner has allowed us to enjoy our new sunroom on hot days by lowering the temperature to 80-84. The fan feature is also helpful on warm days when air conditioning isn't needed. We are looking forward to using its other features, dehumidifier (when we have the windows open) and heater (during our cold winter months).

It does NOT have a thermostat that turns the unit on & off. It only turns the compressor on & off. So I have to do that manually...yes with the remote. It will keep you cool if you sit very close otherwise, not so much.

Does its job in my upstairs room, keeps it at 74 degrees when its 100 outside. The window kit for the hose is disgraceful, other wise a very good ac unit.

This unit does a great job of cooling my loft. It is always 20+ degrees hotter up here in the summer. Now it's very pleasant. Prompt delivery and good price. Noisier than I thought it would be and cycles frequently, but, it keeps my room cool, so, those are minor inconveniences.

YES, it cools nicely, but unless you live in a place where it never rains you shouldn't buy it. There is nothing to keep rain water from leaking into the back of the unit. Also, if you use it by a first floor window, unless you have bars on the windows it is an invitation for burglars who could easily push the panels out and get in. I have bars on my window so that's not a problem for me but the rain thing is. So whenever it rains, I will have to remove the panel to shut the window to keep the rain out.

I did a lot of research on portable air conditioners before choosing this one from Air & Water (purchased through Amazon). Prospective buyers should realize that portables do not match the efficiency of window or central units. Nevertheless, I am pleased with this purchase, which arrived within a week of my ordering it. The Haier CPN12XC9 can cool an enclosed room of almost any size--nearly matching the performance of a window mounted ac. In my case, I have it located in a small bedroom on the third floor of a town house (at least 10 degrees hotter than the lower floors). The floor includes another bedroom, a large bathroom, and an attic playroom. The Haier runs with all doors open. I run an overhead fan and two standing fans placed outside the bedroom, and the central ac includes an auxiliary blower, which helps cool the upper floors. The entire third floor is easily cooled to 75-77 deg and the compressor still cycles on and off.

It was very very easy to install, the window kit worked perfect for my 32 inch slider window. I don't set it lower than 68 degrees and it has no trouble maintaining my room at that temperature. It's a 15x15 room plus a bathroom. Highly recommend this product.
