NewAir AW-281E 28 Bottle Thermoelectric Wine Cooler with Stainless Steel Door Trim

We recently bought three of the AW-281E units. First the staff notified me to verify that this was correct and not an accidental triplication of the order. I appreciated their concern. Secondly, the staff at Air-N-Water worked with me to ship on a specific date as to coordinate the arrival time to be the same. As these were gifts, this was very helpful. They arrived on time, well packaged and in good shape. Per their respective recipient, they have been quietly running and maintaining a constant temperature. The units look good, have nice lighting, and fit in well with each owner?s d?cor. Very pleased!

The NewAir fridge is fantastic. I have had it for 8 months without any problems. It is very quiet (only a small humming noise as it cools down after the door is opened), keeps perfect temperature, very nice construction and finish. The shelving fits the bottles but some bottles are a tight fit (still not a problem), so these bottles are turned to the side so as not to tear the labels. I had 2 other fridges from different well known companies before this. They were noisy, didn't keep the temperature, compressors broke and were much more expensive. NewAir is a great price and a great Fridge. Highly recommended. The one negative for me was the cost of the shipping to Canada (so I made other transportation arrangements).

We are very satisfied with this unit. It arrived promptly, was packaged well, and holds 28 bottles (although shelving is a little tight for some bottle types). Audible start-up fan noise caused a bit of concern the first night, but it's been quiet ever since it reached our desired storage coolness. A probe thermometer confirms that the inside temperature does match what's shown on the blue LED display. Nice purchase! So far, it is exactly what we were looking for.

Shipment was quick and on time. Great packaging ensured no damage. Wine cooler looks great and is working very well. Picked New Air because company was highly rated for customer service and the products received good reviews.

While I belive this should be advertised as a 24 bottle wine cooler. It is very attractive, quiet, and seems to function pretty well.

Only complaint is out of the box the temp gauge is about 5 degrees off. However at over a week in it appears to be more accurate, within 2-3 degrees off.

After a considerable amount of on-line inquiry and research, I was left more confused and unsure from when I started! I slept on it and the next day began researching again. After several hours I remembered reading an on-line survey and this product was marked by customers 10 out of 10! I found the article and did a bit more research and price comparison, etc. What I discovered it is scored high in every way possible. This product beat every other refrigerator in what areas I was interested in. I ordered the refrig on Sunday. Tuesday evening, I had all my wonderful wine in my beautiful refrig. Talk about fast! The pricing was excellent and so far we have a beautiful frige for our wine. I am so happy I found Air-n-Water! Christmas is coming up and is this is an affordable gift that will keep giving! Everyone who comes in the house loves the fridge and thinking of surprising my son with one. Thanks so much for making an affordable yet outstanding product.

I bought this wine fridge to store cigars in. It is a really nice fridge for the price tag. Better than all the big box store fridges and prices. Shipping was fast and free ! Makes a great humidor.

The cooler arrived on time and well packaged. So far I am very pleased with the performance of the cooler. It is very quiet, looks great, and is maintaining consistent temperature. I did have to remove a rack to make room for my Pinot Noir bottles which was to be expected. Would definitely recommend this cooler to anyone that is looking for a value priced cooler that looks great and performs as described.

I did alot of research and decided on this wine cellar. My boyfriend gave it to me last Christmas 2011. I waited one year to do the review. For the reasonable price, it works perfectly and temperature is spot on accurate. In Southern Calif summers can get past 100 degrees. Still the wine cellar worked perfectly. I have mostly red wines so overall the fit of several bottles is fine. Know that the larger chunky Moscato are other chunky types of bottles are a tight squeeze. I do not even hear it and it looks nice in my loft. Love the interior lighting adds a nice effect. Highly recommend

We bought this unit to replace another brand we bought from another retailer that was not working properly. We are so much happier with this unit. The shippment arrived very quickly. We follow the instruction to let the unit stand up straight for a few hrs prior to plugging in to the power. The design is nice. The noice level is low compare to some others. The temperature is consistant most of the time. Sometimes it goes lower than the setting by a few degrees. We haven't figured out why. But not too much of the jump. When we take wine out from certain racks, we have to pull the rack out. But that is not a big issue. Overall we'd recommend this unit.

Our unit has been in use for about 6 weeks now. When we first received it, we let it sit for several days, then plugged it in and waited for the temp to stabilize. Since we are storing red wines we want it to be around 58-60 degrees, but no matter what we set as our target temp, the cooler will not go above 54 degrees, and bounces around between 51-53 usually. We seem unable to control it. When the ambient temp was 70, the cooler was 51. Now, as the temperature in our garage goes down (the unit sits next to our furnace and water heater, so it will never be freezing), so goes the temp in the cooler. We had hoped that the cooler would be a stable environment for our collection, but have been disappointed.

Purchased this product two weeks ago for less than $250 after shipping. The cooler was packaged very well and no visible damage. After letting the unit sit for 12 hours i plugged it in and let it cool down to 55 for the following week. I then loaded it full of wine and tested the second week. I keep my house cool around 73 degrees so this unit easily keep the temp at 55. I did notice that if I turn off my home A/C and it warms up in my house that this unit will stay within 19-20 degrees of the local temp. So for instance, my house thermostat read 80 degrees and the unit would not cool past 60. So for the money I think this is a great unit but keep in mind it is only good for about a 20 degree drop from the ambient room temp. I like the fact this has a digital adjustment for temp and light on the outside front but like all of these units the single tiny light in the top doesnt do any good if you have the unit full. I wish manufacturers would look into recessed lighting down each side. The fan on this unit is noticeable but not distracting...would not be good in a quiet room, bedroom or tv area

Let me start with the positive. The wine cooler arrived on time, in perfect condition and it was very easy to set up as you only have to screw on the handle. Although it has a little bit of a plastic feel to it the design is really nice so it can be easily put in a living room as well. The noise level is also not a problem - while it makes a little bit of noise it is really reasonable. The main issue and the reason for me only giving two stars is the temperature inside which arguable is also the most important functionality. The lowest temp setting of the cooler is 54 degrees. When it is set at that temperature setting, is 3/4 full of bottles, and put in a dark place with plenty of ventilation in a room where we keep the temperature at max 75 degrees the lowest temperature that I have gotten in the front bottom of the cooler is 57 degrees and in the front top 62 degrees. I don't think that is acceptable for a cooler which states that the temperature setting goes down to 54 degrees. It may be that there is a part in the middle back of the cooler that is 54 degrees but I would want and expect that all my bottles are exposed to the same low temperature everywhere not only parts of some of my bottles. Despite this I have decided not to return the cooler as my current need is for an inexpensive, nice looking cooler which can store my bottles for max 2-3 years and the alternative is to constantly keep my bottles in 75-80 degree temperatures. However if you are looking to store some expensive bottles of wine for a longer time period then I would not recommend that you buy this cooler.

This is my first wine cooler and first purchase from Air and Water. I searched many stores (in person and online) and finally decided on the NewAir AW-281E. First, shopping with Air and Water was extremely easy and the the unit arrived in four days much to my delight. Regarding the unit itself, the reviews were very good and it has lived up to the expectation! The design is very sleek and modern and the blue LED inside is very cool. For functionality, I have all my french wines in this cooler and with the bottles all at the same temperature it is easy to hold that temperature inside the cooler. Although the unit is stored in the basement, when I am nearby I can barely hear it unless I am trying to. The only downside is that the pull out shelving could have been designed a little better to allow for smooth operation; sometimes you have to give them a little force to go back in.

The simple view: 1. The fan runs almost constantly, even with the temp set at 66. Not sure why, but other reviewers seem to say the same thing. 2. The bottom rack is tight, will scratch labels. 3. If there is a power failure, the unit will come back on at 60 degrees, not where it was set when the power went out. Not a good situation for something purchased to keep the wine at a constant temperature. Overall, nice looking unit, and seems to work well, but it will most likely end up in the basement due to the noise of the fan. Not loud, but annoying.

We bought the New Air-281 3 weeks ago and have found it to be everything that we needed. Quiet, attractive, plenty of space, and a cool light too. We did not need a dual temp unit as we only store red wines, that made this one a great choice. My only worry is about its longevity, and the fact that I may actually need 2. Highly recommended!

I looked at many units in this size and price range on line and after doing quite a bit of research I settled on this unit. I made a great choice. It came quickly (3 days) was packaged very securly and it looks and works great. I liked it so much 30 days later (after my wine advocate 16 bottle unit croaked) I bought a 2nd one. I am not sure why some people have said its noisy as mine runs very quiet. I highly recommend this unit at this price point. Its a solid value.

It may be too early to tell since my past refrigerators all broke. But so far so good. Great experience with the sales staff, great looking refrigerator, easy to use, stores 28 bottles easily (though some of the fat bottles didn't fit). Quiet, though still makes some noise, but completely vibration free. Very happy so far with the purchase.

We shopped many sites before buying this wine cooler. It had all the features we were looking for and attractive looking in our kitchen. The stainless steel matched our appliances. We did remove one of the lower shelves to accommodate large bottles but still have plenty of room for others. It does have a slight hum but not annoying. Very pleased with product and would recommend.

This unit is very well constructed, nothing feels "cheap" or janky. Runs super quiet, doesn't produce a lot of condensation. Temperature settings accurate to within a degree or two for me.

The first unit they sent was very loud. Customer service was great and sent me another unit immediately. The next unit that arrived was quieter, however, it was damaged. It had scratches and was dented on the stainless trim. The company was more than happy to do what they could to make me happy. We agreed to a partial refund. What a great customer service department to do business with!! Would buy from them again. It would be nice if all businesses out there would take a lesson from Air -n- Water!!!

I needed a high volume cooler that would fit under my counter, and this product works perfectly. It took the full volume of 28 bottles, they are a tight fit, however if you pull the shelves out when loading and taking bottles out there is no problem. Temperature control is very good. My only issue is it is a little loud and it seems to run continuously. There is no noise reduction when it reaches the set temp.

I received this product as a gift, and have to say that I'm happy with it. It took two of us to figure out how to attach the door handle since there are no instructions in the manual, however. It has efficient storage area, but I wish it was easier to see the bottle labels without pulling out each individual rack. Although more room between bottles would make a larger appliance, it isn't very accomodating of larger bottles (such as champagne). The hum is audible, but not awful. So far, I'm very happy to have much expanded room in our fridge!

The product came promptly and it was easy to follow the fridge to my door. Product looks great and so far has kept the temp. perfect. The only problem is the constant hum it makes. I've gotten used to it(mostly), but the wife has not. The product is in the other room(maybe 30 feet away), and you can hear it. Sometimes louder when the fan kicks on. I don't think it's that bad, but like they say, "happy wife, happy life". I'm keeping the product though!

THE AW-281E ARRIVED IN THREE DAYS. I LIVE IN TEXAS. PACKAGE WAS VERY GOOD. SET-UP WAS A SNAP. IT SHOULD BE CLASSED AS 24 NOT 28 AS IT ONLY HAS RACKS FOR 24. I USED THREE OF THE FREEZER BLOCKS FOR PRE CHILL PRIOR TO PLUGGING IT IN. THIS WORKED OUT GOOD. A GOOD BUY. AIR-N-WATER FIRST CLASS. THE SPACE IS TIGHT BUT OK. WE GOT OFF TO A GOOD START HOPE IT CONTINUES.

This is a great wine cooler. It looks good, isn't very loud, and has the ability to turn the light on & off. My only real complaint is they really cram the bottles into the space if you want to fill it up. I'm using regular cabernet bottles too, not the randomly sized ones. But everything does fit, you just might scratch labels up getting them in and out.

I ordered two of these and both were received ontime and in great packaging. Both units look awesome and make little noise. At times there will be a minor humming noise but it is not bad at all. I would recommend this to anybody as they are a greta buy for the price and look awesome. As people have mentioned, some rhone bottles don't fit or some will be really tight in the racks.

I've owned this unit for roughly 1 month now and have been relatively satisfied. Before I purchased the unit, I had read a number of reviews of this unit and several other units from other manufacturers and had decided that this one would be best suited to meet my needs within my price range. As previous reviewers have noted, the shelves are closely spaced, so larger bottles with wider diameters or that are taller (internal depth of roughly 13") may not fit. I purchased the unit expressly to house champagne. What I ended up doing was removing the bottom 3 shelves so that I could store the champagne upright without damaging the labeling. In doing so, I can store 8 or 9 champagne bottles in the bottom with ease, with the upper racks still available to store red wine or beer as the mood strikes me. Temperature regulation seems fairly constant. I have not done an independent check of the temperature sensor. As the manual notes, the unit should be allowed to stand for 2 hrs after shipment/moving to reduce the possibility of a malfunction of the cooling system. I have already moved once and was surprised to discover just how true this statement was. Prior to the move, I had set the cooler to 54. I then unplugged the unit and moved it to my new place (which took me 30 minutes to an hr). I immediately plugged it back in to make sure the bottles didn't heat dramatically. The unit then settled to 56. I'm assuming the reason is exactly what was described in the manual. After a period of 2 days, it then returned to 54 (without me ever touching the temperature controls). The manual does tell you to transport the unit upright when moving (I had it on its side since that was the only way it was fitting in my car). Just something to keep in mind. In terms of the time it takes to get down to the desired temperature, it will definitely take a while initially. When I first received the unit, I set it to 54 with the cooler empty just to make sure it would work. That took a matter of a few hours. I then filled it with 8 bottles of champagne and red wine. With an ambient temperature (and presumably bottle temperature) of about 78, it took somewhere around a day and a half to get back down to 54. Once the unit gets down to 54, opening the door to remove a bottle seems to cause it to shoot up to as high as 60, before it cools itself back down. The door handle does have to be attached by you, the user. This isn't stated in the manual. However, I was prepared for this from reading other reviews. I did receive both screws and had a good idea of where to look beneath the magnetic strip for the screwholes. The wire racks are metal and removable. Plastic clips on the interior of the unit prevent them from sliding out too far. It may take a little force to bend the clips slightly to create enough clearance to remove the metal racks from the unit. Not something I would advise doing often, considering they are plastic, but they seem durable enough to withstand such action every now and then. There is a little blue light on the interior at the top of the unit which can be controlled by a light switch on the front of the unit. The manual states turning it on can cause temperature variations within the unit. I just leave mine off and have never verified just how much it causes the temperature to vary. There is a filter in the back of the unit that fits loosely in a slot. I don't believe I ever saw any mention of it in the manual. The only reason I bring it up is because it can fall out rather easily if the unit is flipped on its side (which I did during moving). With regards to noise, the unit is not silent, but it is not loud either. When I first turned it on, the hum surprised me, but I quickly got used to it and don't even notice it now. As for maintenance, I have yet to clean the water reservoir. From reading the manual, it doesn't sound hard. Additionally, the troubleshooting section of the manual does detail a list of common problems the unit may experience. I had to call customer service to get some clarification as to which of those problems were covered by warranty and what the most common issues were, as well as how they could be addressed. They were very up front and I was very comfortable with the apparent relative ease of maintenance prior to making my purchase. All in all, even though it has only been a month, I have been quite satisfied with my purchase. I knew exactly what I was getting into and the unit has most definitely delivered. Everything still works just fine and I have no complaints.

Still love this wine cooler. It is higher quality than others that we have in our home. I would definitely recommend it to people looking for a good quality cooler.

This one is awesome for the price. We had a vinotemp 12 bottle with 2 sections (V12-TEDS) and the shelves were difficult to slide in and out. You had to take all 6 bottles out to get 1 out. The shelves on this model slide smoothly. It adjustes to temperature quickly. Love the electronic panel on the outside with digital temperature.

This Wine Cooler fits perfect under our kitchen counter, has room on both sides and top and bottom. It is very quiet and has kept the temp. that I programmed. We have only had it for a couple of weeks , but we love it. It looks perfect under the counter and that stainless steel border looks expensive. We have lots of room for little and big bottles. It's a keeper.

The service and speed of delivery were excellent. The product was packaged nicely, so there was no risk of damage. This fridge is quiet and looks great! Only thing I question is can it really hold 28 bottles?

It is a great product!! I ordered it on a Thursday before Christmas and expected it was after going to be after Christmas when I received it and I got it on Tuesday before Christmas!!! IT was awesome!!!! Really fast shipping thank you!! My mom loves her new wine fridge!!!

I needed to spend more than $100 (I know she spent a little more than $100 on me) but didn't want to charge one so this came in at the right price and shipping was reasonable and FAST! Kind of big for a small town home but after giving serious consideration to about 8 - 10 of these, this one really had everything. I wasn't looking to build a cellar but wanted to store more than 2 or 3. Personally, I think it's just the right size to have a nice variety for any occasion/meal chilled and on hand.

Recently purchased a stand up bar for an unused dining room to assist with traffic flow and interest in our home. The dimensions of the opening in the bar were unusual so, I anticipated having to compromise on the cooler that I purchased. After looking high and low, I found this cooler. It is a perfect fit, silent, holds more than enough bottles. The appearance looks much more pricey than what it costs making my husband ask me if we could afford it! Only suggestion that I have it to allow it to have both right and left door openings. Otherwise, absolutely perfect!

This wine cooler is good value for your money; it looks sharp and works as advertised. If I had one complaint, it would be the noise (a relatively unintrusive humming), but I doubt you'll find any cooler that is totally silent at this price point. Also, Air & Water customer service is top-notch. The screws for the handle were not delivered with the unit, but after a single email to customer service, I received the screws within a few days.

I bought this unit to replace a failing compressor based wine fridge. This unit is much quieter and is still able to keep wine at the correct temperature. The unit is sturdy and comes very well packaged to prevent damage during shipping.

I got this as an early Christmas gift for my wife. Knowing nothing about wine coolers, I did a lot of research online. After narrowing things down to this one, I called Air & Water (twice) for some more info and to finalize my decision. They couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. We have only had the wine refrigerator for about 3 weeks, but we love it. We did a lot pricing, comparing and reviewing of models and decided for price to go with the 28 bottle model. It looks great is quiet and has held the temp with all racks being used. We are really enjoying our favorite wines at the right temp now!!

Got this for my cigars, it's a gorgeous unit. Exactly as the pictures show, including the bulge in the back. The dimensions are from the front to the back of the bulge so beware that it is as the pictures show, it is not a flat back to the unit. Also, be aware that there are hooks at the front of each shelve slot, so if you're converting it to a cigar humidor and placing flat shelves in it you'll have to break off the hooks, which is easy enough.

The fridge looks good and does the job. If bottles are a little fatter they don't fit well and getting the bottles in and out damages the labels on this size of wine bottle. It is good for the price.

Seems to work well and a good value for the price (thus far). Fast shipping by A&W. Wish there was a way you could turn unit off w/o unplugging but doesn't seem to be (under cabinet mount).

I really like this wine cooler. I bought three and installed them under my stairs. They are very quiet and don't produce much heat. A very good value.

This NewAir wine cooler is a great value. Quiet thermoelectric cooling. Internal LED lighting adds a nice glow. I ordered on the phone, got great customer support. The entire experience was great.

So far I am really enjoying the unit. Stays at about 55 even though it is set a 54 according to the display. Longer bottles and bottles that are opened and recorked have to be put in at an angle in order to fit. Not a big deal for me but if you are trying to put a lot of bottles in could be a problem. As for now not such a biggie here. Looks great. I would most certainly recommend to friends. Delivery time was excellent. Went with standard delivery and had in about a week. No issues to speak of.

I use this fridge for my cigar collection and it works great. I set this up and it holds temp and humidity quite well. I now have no issues with temp/humidity swings and my cigars are happy in their new home! Once set up it is virtually maintenance free.
