I'm a diabetic and have special dietary restrictions, but I still love my ice cream! I bought this to make ice cream I could eat. Instead of using regular sugar, I substitute it with splenda or stevia and it works fine for my purposes.
Nonetheless, some of the things I really liked: construction was sturdy, unit was very easy to use (you just put ingredients in the spout and set the timer) and the speed (my first batch took a little less than hour). If you like ice cream, you will definitely like this product. It's less expensive than comparable ones out there and does the job beautifully.

I've owned the AIC 220 purchased through Amazon for nearly a year. It's still the best in its price range. Makes great ice cream. There's nothing like the homemade variety. The others in the $180+ range don't compete based on reviews in Amazon.

Although the machine is powerful, quiet and makes very good ice cream, the results are uneven in the removable canister. The ice cream in the lower part is thick but the top is watery. The machine also doesn't let you know when it is no longer mixing, which could damage the machine.

This machine is relatively easy to put together and operate. The recipes included are really good. Made the vanilla ice cream (added a little salt & almond extract & used vanilla extract instead of vanilla bean--fantastic) The ice cream only took about 45 minutes. The machine is quiet. Put remaining ice cream in a plastic container and put in freezer and ice cream stays really creamy. Looking forward to trying other flavors of ice creams & sorbet. Love the machine--highly recommend. I think I will order an additional paddle in case this one breaks (My husband felt like it should be stronger but does the mixing perfectly)

The AIC-220 Ice Cream Maker is easy to use and produces great results. The Ice Cream, Frozen Yogert, etc. that we've made so far have all been fantastic. The machine seems to be well made and has a substantial appearance that will fit in comfortably in any kitchen. However, the operational program and operating instructions need improvement since following the instructions and letting the machine run a complete cycle will product a solidly frozen product in the removable pan with the mixing paddle frozen in place right down the center, making it impossible to remove either the paddle or the ice cream itself. The programmed operational cycle should really terminate when the mixing paddle operation stops (approximately 2/3 into the time cycle selected), or at least allow you that option. At that point, your ice cream is only semi-frozen but still soft enough to allow you to remove the mixing paddle and transfer the ice cream to another container and move it to your freezer for final freezing and eventual serving. The work-around this faux-paw is simply to turn to machine off when the mixing cycle is over. For the price of this machine, that really shouldn't be necessary.

Only buy this machine if you want a steady stream of visitors. In a few short weeks we have produced seven batches of scrumptious ice cream. The machine does all the real work. It took me a week to realize the increase of visitors bringing pies and cakes all needing a scoop of ice cream. We now have pistachio, chocolate,coffee and vanilla in the freezer! The unit is a breeze to clean and stores easily in our pantry. This is so well built we expect to have it for years. Well Done!

This is a quality product that started making fantastic ice cream after I washed all the parts that have contact with the ice cream.
It not only has digital time remaining but also the temperature of the bucket. Within a minute af starting it, temperature was down to freezing and within several minutes, down to -15 degrees F.
Wow, what an unexpected pleasure to have such a great machine.
We have been eating ice cream every night for dessert and it tastes great.
All positives, no negatives thus far - have had it for over a week now.

This ice cream maker is VERY VERY easy to use, my husband took it out of the box and was making ice cream within minutes... all. by. himself (which is saying something). Another thing I love about it is that it is so QUIET. You can't even tell that it's on. We had it going right behind us while watching a movie and we could hardly hear it.
The only con I have found (which isn't that big on a con) is that sometimes it doesn't freeze all the way through in an hour. We have to put it in the freezer for another 30 min or so before it is completely ready to scoop out.

This was a gadget I had been waiting to purchase for a long time. I had my eye on another brand and then came across this one. The design looked better, it has more features and it costs much less. It was delivered very quickly. So far I have been very happy with the performance. Did not notice a high noise level. Barely knew it was on. Product tasted great. Also, easy to clean up. I only wish ice cream could be made much faster :-)
