I purchased this AI-215SS to replace an older ice maker by a different manufacturer. This unit does make ice faster and more of it than our previous unit. It has a substantial water reservoir and large holding basket at 3.5lbs that the ice keeps coming. In a short time we can fill up a few large bags to place in our freezer for summer cooler use the next day. The automatic cleaning feature of this unit is a plus, as I know it is important to clean them every so often. Overall a great ordering experience

Makes a very impressive amount of ice. Would prefer to have control panel screen a little easier to see. Machine produces a good quantity of ice but would like the ice to be less opaque and frozen more solidly.

The only issues I have with this product concern the new display and control panel.
While placing the unit at countertop level, the display may be more readable, mine is located on the floor of my boat. This makes the display very difficult to read.
In addition, there is not tactile feel to the buttons, which make it unclear as to whether I pushed a button hard enough to register, or whether I am pushing the buttons too hard. Since I can't see the display very well, I have been confused as to the status of the ice making process.
All-in-all, the unit makes good ice rather quickly. I appreciate the self cleaning feature, as I have previously had cleaning related issues with other ice makers.
I'm hoping this unit continues to make trouble-free ice for years to come, rather than months to come.

The ice maker actually exceeded my expectations with regard to speed and quality of ice pieces. We bought it for our RV and we have not traveled with it yet but we ran it for a couple of days at home and we got a real kick out of it. I expected a lot more noise based on some comments but the loudest noise is when the ice drops. Not a problem. I tested it one afternoon and it seemed like no time at all and I had a Yeti 65 about half full of ice. I might have given it all 5 stars but I would like to use it for a while and see how it holds up. However construction does look good and it was well packed for shipping.
