I have had this unit for six weeks with no problems.
I had a previous Bullet type ice maker with the dump bucket. After the controls failed, it let the motor drive past the limit switches and break the bucket. The control board was not available for replacement. I wanted no more dump bucket systems.
After a LOT of internet research, I chose this unit to replace my old one. This system trickles water over a chilled metal grid until the cubes form. After the cycle time, The compressor stops. The running water frees the ice cube matrix from the metal form. Then the ice cube matrix falls into the catch bucket. The compressor restarts and the cycle repeats.
With only a refrigerant compressor and a water pump as running parts this unit should last a long time. The only other thing may be having to clean out the water jets periodically. So far the system has worked well. My friends are impressed! Several have asked for the model number and where I purchased the unit. Also as a benefit, the clear ice is more appealing in drinks over the cloudy bullets.

I was looking for a protable ice maker that makes crystal clear ice. This one definitely does what it says. The ice is crystal clear and small cubes. The only negative I have on this item is I thought I could use filtered water so ice would be filtered but it works better using tap water. I would/have recommended this product to other people. I usually make ice and fill gallon ziplock bags with it to store in freezer then I don't make any more ice until I am on last bag of ice. I usually do 3 gallon size bags of ice at a time. I fill reservoir tank 1 and 1/2 times and that will fill the 3 gallong size ziplocks. When I take bag of ice out of freezer if any is stuck together I just tap bag on counter and it seperates the cubes nicely.
I can't say enough good things about this ice maker.

things started out ok but shortly after install, the ice makers started icing over and not releases the sheet of cubes. i've had to unplug the machine to let the ice sheet melt to allow it to start making ice again. next the machine started making noises and now the ice is cloudy and i'm wondering how long its going to be before it just stops all together. glad i have the extended warranty.

I sent back the first AI clear-ice maker, because the construction was so shoddy - bottom plates warped, sealant goo all over the bottom, missing screws. I received a replacement which was a little better (construction-wise). It worked great for about 3 days - loved the clear ice cubes. But then it quit working, and I had to send it back. The third replacement would never make ice cubes. I became very good friends with the local FedEx reps.
I gave up and purchased another model, an AI 215ss. Construction was not the best w/missing screws, LED cover which will not stay in place. But, it has produced huge quantities of ice now for several months.
When these ice-makers work, they're great! If AI would just pay more attention to quality control, even if the purchase price were higher, they'd have a winner. Thank goodness, the CS reps at Air-N-Water were so understanding and helpful.

I purchased one of these and it went out in about a month. They shipped me a new one, again and it lasted about 2 weeks. I was told they had been discontinued because they just would not hold up. Air N Water was great, product stunk!

It's a small portable ice maker. It is what it is. It produces clear ice very fast and keeps it going as long as you keep the water reservoir full.
I've only had it 1 week, but so far, so good. The clear ice makes everything taste better, if you notice that thing.

Only concern is it is a little noisy at times. This was purchased for use in a busy accounting office. Once in a while it has to be turned off to rest as we tend to run it non stop for 8 hours at a time 5 days a week. Great product for the money. I didn't feel I could justify the price of this machine when my husband was hounding me about buying it, but I gave in and am very, very happy that I did! There are a lot of ice makers out there that make the small cubed ice that I like but not many of them make clear ice cubes. Most of them are cloudy which is just like my refrigerator makes. After a lot of research I bought the NewAir AI-130S Portable Clear ice maker and I love it. It makes perfectly clear small cubes of ice. There's also an adjustment on it if you want to make them thinner or thicker too. It's very easy to use and I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes clear ice cubes.

After ordering I was notified at every stage of the shipping and received the product as promised.
I would highly suggest (guys) that you read and follow the directions, especially the tips about ice production. They are "spot" on.

This item replaced another brand bought as a gift. The other one died 13 months after purchase. I was present when this NewAir was opened and et up for the first time. So simple and in 45 minutes we had our first ice...that includes time to open and remove packaging!

this machine makes perfectly clear restaurant style ice... so it does take a few minutes longer per batch than wet ice units but the ice does seem to last longer. only improvement we can suggest is to add an audible alarm when the unit runs out of water like other units. it ran out in the middle of a party and by the time we noticed, it was too late. it was never able to catch up to demand on a warm evening.

I had originally purchased a NewAir AI-130S Portable Ice Maker which malfunctioned within the first 4 hours of operation. The company was very nice and replaced the unit quickly. The new one worked fine for a period of time but now needs special tinkering to make it work. The main resevoir at times does not feed the system. Overall if you dont mind babysitting it it works quickly!

This is an amazing product. Our 20 year old Scotsman died and I didn't want to spend $1200-$1800 for a new under-counter clear ice maker for our pool bar. This little machine makes great clear ice cubes. It is too hot here to use it outside during the summer, so I've moved it inside and it's working fine. The capacity isn't huge, but it seems to make cubes fast - enough for my purposes. It probably isn't designed to replace a full-sized under counter ice machine, but for the difference in price I'm happy.

Here in the hurricane state, I was looking more at this ice maker for emergencies, with everything being self contained. Compact, very low wattage and amp draw, so my portable generator would have no problem running it. When it's hot and no electricity nothing better than lots of ice, but until then it's still nice to have ready ice. Glad I went with the clear ice feature. The ice is absolutely crystal clear and with the cube shape, it cools the drinks down really fast, great for entertaining. So let the storms come, we'll be sipping on a cool one.
