NewAir AF-351 Portable Evaporative Cooler with Built-In Air Purifier with 10 Hour Timer

This cooler is wonderful. I bought one for our office to try and now I am waiting on a second one to come. It makes a huge difference and works well in ventilated or non ventilated areas. The water tank still has water after ten hours of operation. It was easy to put the filters in and start cooling the offices. We can hardly wait to get the next one started! This is a great product!

This air cooler does wonders for the heat for me. We had a bit of a heat wave a few weeks ago and I was desperate for relief, which this product offered. Construction is well built and the unit is very easy to use. It can get loud on the higher setting, but not much more than your average fan or A/C. I like the air purification function as well since I have dogs. So far I haven't had to turn on my A/C yet, so that will save me $ this summer.

My first portable evaporative cooler was damaged in shipping. I explained my problem and a new cooler was sent out the next day and a return auth. sent by email. When the replacement arrived by FedEx the damaged one was on its way back to Air&Water. Thanks for the great service! Mike G.

While it is easy to use, it just takes some work filling it up with water/ice (I strongly suggest the ice for more cooling). I wheel it to the sink, out of my room, to fill it up because it can drip from certain areas, the fill spout as well as one portion underneath the unit. It cools well enough for me to sleep, so the extra work of filling it up at night can be worth it.

This product was just was I have been wanting. It works well and suits my needs.

We have a restaurant that gets very hot in the summer & we had a lot of customers complaining. We use this one in our small dining room and a larger one for 750sq ft in our bigger dining room & haven't had any complaints since! The noise is no problem for us since it's such a noisy business, and unlike our bigger one which needs filling 3-4 times daily, this one only has to be filled 1-2 times & we run it from open to close daily.

After using my cooler for almost a week now, I can say that I'm very happy with it. I think many individuals have unreasonable expectations for evaporative coolers. They're not a/c units for crying out loud. I set mine up in my bedroom, where the sun (even with darkening drapes) warms up that room the most. I have the window cracked and the fan in front of it. I also have my bedroom door cracked with a small floor fan pushing air out so there's a constant flow. So far, so good! I used to walk into that room and it always be hot and stuffy, now it's considerably cooler than the other rooms. The unit comes ready to run, no assembly required. The air purification option is wonderful since I have a kitty. There's also a "cooler" setting, which seems to drop the temperature the fan puts out by a few degrees, and I like the fact that it displays the temperature of the air it's blowing. A few things to consider. There's a small door to put the water/ice into it...perhaps 2x4". I don't mind it since I have a large thermos that works great to pour the water and ice on in. It can be loud on the strongest setting, but so far, it's been working great on levels 1 and 2. The unit is ridiculously easy to use, but there was no user's manual that came with it. If something does go wrong, I'll have to peruse online and/or troubleshoot it myself. Bottom line, this unit covers the largest square footage for less $$, and I was pleased to discover it had a few features I wasn't expecting. If you use it correctly and have reasonable expectations, I think you'll be quite pleased with it. PS - my dad told me the trick about putting it in front of an open window and then having an add'l small fan to circulate the air out of the room....perhaps that's why it's worked so well?

Two things - 1) I get better cooling clipping a wet hand towel in front of a box fan. 2) It is almost impossible to know if I am using the cooler wrong since the directions (both in print and on line) are so short as to be almost useless. So I have to guess about how to use this product and, not surprisingly, the results are poor.

The NewAir AF-351 is easy to use and, most importantly, cools well; in spite of the fact that it's really smaller than my room size requires. However, pouring 5+ gallons of water through a 2"x4" flip-out flap low on the unit's side is a challenge... adding ice is even more festive. And noise? Well, let's just say I feel like I live at the end of a runway. Even so, I'd buy the same unit again.

This is a really hot and dry summer in Colorado so an evaporative cooler is just what I need. It cools the air (especially when I add a tray of ice cubes to the water) and humidifies, too. My only complaint so far is that there are no good handles on it and it is a little hard to move around. The noise level is about what my big fan makes so I can't complain too much about that.

I am using this machine in a top floor bedroom converted to office space and it keeps the air relatively cool. I have to fill it everyday, so it is adding humidity to the air. What I believe is a thermometer on the top sometimes reads as high as 90 but when in use goes down to the mid-80s. It does move a lot of air and that is a wonderful thing and keeps the computer equipment and me from over-heating. Granted I'm using this machine in a place where it is hard pressed to do the duty requested of it. It also sends air down a hallway and out through a downstairs window. I live in the Salt Lake City area, and the temperature outside is regularly near 100F and it is rather dry here, but it does make life bearable when using the room. A reasonable expense as well.

I live in the arid high desert region and an Evaporative cooler is more efficient. The first unit did not cool and I was able to get a replacement quickly. UPS even picked up at my place. It's noisy, can't deny but im use to it now. And it does work better when you start it BEFORE your house gets hot. For the price it's adequate up to 90 degrees. Then youre pretty much just going to be hot. The breeze from it helps cool though.

Purchased this unit for use here in Colorado on hot nights. Using in bedroom only and it is not cooling the room. May return it as just got it a couple weeks ago and it is not performing well at all.

Works adequately if humidity is low- 30%. Will lower actually temp 4-5 degrees and, with extra moisture, feels a bit cooler. Not a miracle but does it's designed job.

This unit cools the room from 90+ degrees down to 79 at the best . I would still recomend this unit though

This product does very little to cool the room. If anything it just adds a lot of humidity. It is very noisy. I could not recommend this product.

I purchased this unit last year to replace an old Bon-Aire model that had broken down after several years of use. This unit did not cool quite as well as the Bon-Aire, but was also less expensive, so I had kind of expected that. Shipping was prompt and the unit was delivered in good condition. For the first year this unit got me through the hottest summer nights with no problems - I slept well with the unit placed so that the stream of air blew directly on me, and it was nice to have the oscillating feature that helped keep the room cooler as well. It was also a godsend for my dogs who were at home during the day. I followed all of the maintenance recommendations when I stored it in the fall last year, (I even stored it in the original packaging) but when I took it out again this year, I noticed it wasn't cooling nearly as well as it had last year. It was still better than nothing, and still helped with the hot summer nights (thank goodness for our extremely arid climate that maximizes the cooling effect of these units) but then, just a couple of weeks after the warranty had expired, the fan stopped working. The motor seems to be okay, and there is a humming sound when I turn the unit on, but the fan will not turn. Try as I might, I can't seem to troubleshoot the problem. Overall, it seems to me that paying $200 for about 3 months of cooling is too expensive. Based on some of the other reviews here, as well as my own experience, it seems this unit is not designed to last. I will not purchase this unit again and would not recommend it to anyone else either.

This cooler has a better fill level design than the older model I had. Much easier to see the water level. It is easy to operate and is not really noisy. I do wish it had an automatic shut off when it runs out of water but the water tank is sufficient for5 hours or so. I am in a very dry climate so it does work very well.

Cooling feature(s) a bit overstated. Added length to this text has little to do with overstated advertising. Air-n-water would do better service by stating this unit to be minimal cooler that serves to slightly cool small enviroment in non-humid situations.

I like this product better than my Ultracool model I brought earlier at Home Depot. It's quieter and does better job of cooling the space. However I did notice a big crack in the side panel after I had it about a week. Luckily it still works.

This unit has helped cool the air in the living and kitchen area. For the price I am satisfied. Hint: the air will stay cooler if you add a gallon of water in an hour and the ice cubes to assist. I keep a gallon of water in the fridge therefore it is always cold water I am pouring in the system. Easy to operate.

Keeps a hot room cool without going crazy on the light bill. Portable and easy to use via the remote. This works better than I had expected at keeping a room cool with triple digit temperature outside.

Company had just replaced 2 units 3/4 wks ago, Now, both New Units pumps have quit working within days of each other, At this point I'm beyond disappointed with the Units! We will see what happens when again returning these, If Air-N-Water stands behind the products they sell, I say that because it's been 1 year since the first set were purchased... Even though the first defective set were returned before the 1 Yr. Warranty was up I'm concerned they will argue the Date of "Original" purchase will be when the clock starts ticking and not stand behind the replacements! I'm hoping this won't happen as Customer Service Seems Pretty Good thus far!

This is a great evaporative cooler. I couldn't be happier with it.

I love this cooler. I have used it every night and for the first time ever in the summer, I've slept through the night because my room was cool. I love the directional louvers that I can adjust and all of the choices I have on speed, oscillating, cooling, not to mention the remote, etc. I hope to save enough to purchase another one at some point so I can keep it in the other part of the house. I would highly recommend this model.

The unit arrived within a couple of days. It was scratched and the little tab to open the water tank was broken off. We have such an early heatwave here in Santa Fe, NM. (high 90's everyday) I just needed immediate relief. DO NOT use the unit if the house is already hot. It will only cool 2 degrees in 5 hrs. The best way to use the unit is to start it early in the a.m. when the house is cool. I turned it on at 8 a.m. when the temp in the house was 71. It's now 1:30 and the temp in the house is up to 83 with the unit on full and a fan going as well. It's certainly better than the 91 in the house yesterday, but not great. If it stays under 85 I'll be okay with it. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford one that handles more sq. ft., but it's not cooling the 300 s.f. as advertised. I would suggest buying a unit that handles more s.f. than you actually need. It's better than nothing, but not great.

Living in the desert can be brutal in the summer but no fear air and water are here. We bought the unit over the phone with an extremly helpful staff, we purchased exactly what I was looking for which was unavailable in any home dept. store. We take care of our 91 year old mom and she stays nice and cool. So thanks for saving the day and making it alot more comfortable!

The NewAir AF-351 Portable Evaporative Cooler has helped cool our house and is easy to use. I really like the air purifier as well! Combined with airconditioning, this is a very good product.

BUT, in the bad water (salt/minerals), can't keep deposits from slowing efficiency. Honeycomb filter is hard to clean & so far, impossible to replace. Now pump has quit in first unit. If you have city water, I'm sure it would be wonderful.

I live in the Northern Illinois area. My central air unit recently broke down and needs to be fully replaced so I thought I would try something temporarily to hold me over. I ordered the NewAir AF-351 E-Cooler in late May 2012. I used it for 3 1/2 weeks during the month of June. The unit looked nice, but performed poorly. The temperatures recently reached the mid 90's this past week I was unable to get the unit to cool no more than 5 degrees less than room temperature. Even with ice added to the unit I felt very little difference. The cooler blew slightly cooler air than a regular fan. It did not cool a small bedroom at all and was only mildly effective when the air was blown directly on me. As far as features, the ionizer was useless and reading the water meter levels was difficult due to the dark tinted plastic window. The unit may work well in other areas, but definitely not made for the area I live in. It put a lot of humidity in the air and overall just did not perform. Air & Water has the 30-day money guarantee and I have returned the cooler. However, I'm really disappointed with the fact not only do I have to pay a restocking fee (which I clearly understand and have no problem with) BUT, having to pay the shipping fee too?.. It cost me $62.00 to send it back!.. Either charge a restocking fee and cover the shipping cost to return it or the opposite, but to have a customer pay both... REALLY That's almost half the cost of what I paid for the cooler that the business is taking for a product I got absolutely nothing out of... so how can it truly be a money back guarantee?? This will most definitely deter me from ordering anything again from this business unless something changes with the return policy.

first of all, i was told by the co that this probably would no work well cause i live in los angeles and it is very humid..since last year my electric bill was sky high i do not want to use my ac...so i decided to try this, i ordered it anyway..it arrived within 2 days, that was great but without the remote..took care of that but was little dissapointed at the co..the unit is easy, if u use it 24 hours like i do cause it is so hot in my house u need to refill everyday but that is no problem..it has 3 levels of cooling and so far i have not needed to use the highest #3..it cools very well, much cooler than a fan, needs to be set to where it blows your way, but it does cool u down as well as an ac, just not all around the room..but if u need something to keep u cool and comfortable witout the hi cost this really does the job..i am happily amazed after what i was told..

Other than the daily water refills in this very dry weather, the cooler works very well.

I have only had this for a few days and it has only been really hot for about 3 days. However, when it was really hot, the cooler worked better than I expected. I dropped the room temperature by several degrees. It felt as cool as my airconditioned areas in the house. I am very impressed with the way it looks and the ease of use. And it is very quiet, like a fan.

In Oklahoma during the hot dry summers, I utilize the cooler to reduce my energy bills by one hundred dollars or more.

I am enjoying this cooler very much up in the rocky mountains. It works as an air filter, fan and air humidifier/cooler.

System is adequate but does not cool as well as previous Bon-Air . Unit arrived timely but did not have an owners manual with it. I tried to download from air & water website but received error message 3 times. Emailed support and they still have not responded after 1 week+. Went back to their site and downloaded manual successfully.

Impressed with the speed of delivery.Haven't had a lot of hot weather yet,but with what we have had,it seems to have plenty of cooling.Like the different control settings.

I love this cooler, it moves to where I need the cooling and does a great job for the my small bedroom and hall area. If I ever need a second one I would buy the same model. I also like the air cleaning feature, we live in Vegas and the dust is out of control, this cooler really helps clean the air. Great, fast, and speedy delivery is a great plus as well. Just a bit noisy, but bearable.

Bought this unit, then predictably, it turned cool again. No chemicals or Freeon. Temps in high 70s and The dogs and I are comfy. One of my dogs even naps with the air blowing on his little tummy. They would give thumbs up if they had them. So I will.

Our relative humidity is barely in the double digits. This portable swamp cooler cools well and humidifies the air at the same time. Standard air conditioners dry the air even more. It is easy to store for the winter.

We bought this cooler for our living room/dining room/kitchen area that has high beam ceilings to help bring down the temperature and work with our central air conditioning. It does the job very well. The air conditioning unit does not come on nearly as often now that we use this cooler. Great product and great service. We are very pleased with our purchase.

We have a ranch house built in 1908. Usually 98-100 degrees outside in summer and 90-94 inside. With this cooler we were able to get two rooms inside down to 80-83 degrees and with the added humidity it was bearable. Without it we would have gone home 2 days earlier as it was just too hot and dry.

I bought this unit almost 5 weeks ago, in a scale of 10 I give this product 6 out of 10. I don?t want to lower its grade, but there are some issues such as honeycomb filter which can be very easy to break in case you want to clean it. I have about 280 to 300 Sq.Ft bedroom which I use it for, however it takes about 45 to 1 ? in time to cool the room, but it won?t sustain the temp once it cools off. It?s a little bit noisy compared to other products I have experienced before. The good thing about it is: cheap in terms of money, so for this amount of dollars you want to spend on evaporative cooler is so reasonable. Overall, It?s easy to carry and move around plus it saves you $$ on your Energy bill.

We purchased the AF351 Portable Evap unit to help cool the area behind the counter of our retail shop. Our rooftop evap coolers just weren't doing the job in the 105 degree plus Arizona summer. The unit cools the area well enough that the counter help is happy. the unit oscillates well and while not designed for commercial use, exceeds our expectations. Priced Right and highly functional. We were also impressed with the expedited order and delivery process that Air & Water provided. Great product & terrific service.

I was impressed with the amount of air this cooler put out. The only down side to it is that it goes through water fairly quickly, if i run it for about 8 to 9 hours, the water tank is low. But overall a good buy.

I've had this evap cooler in our home for a few weeks now, and despite my best efforts to keep the water tank full with cold, cold water and even ice (which is tricky to get into the tank) it really hasn't cooled of the house much more than a fan in the window. I like the look of it. It rolls from room to room (hand holders could use some work- it's not easy to grab onto). However, it takes an hour easily to cool the room a mere 2-4 degrees, even in the cooler evenings. Unfortunately, I am a bit dissapointed. Previous reviews I read before buying made it sound much better of a product than I feel it has turned out to be for us.

I am very pleased with the product. Just wish I had known about it earlier when we really had the oppresive heat. I only wish there was an easier way to read the water level, I can't go down on my knees to check, there should be a little light to tell you the level

This unit is well built and looks sharp in an office setting. Noide level is not too bad. The cooling power is average however. Water needs to be added every other day as well.

We use the unit in a double garage in beautiful Phoenix, Arizona with (warm summers). The unit gives out excellent volume of air .. we add ice to the water tank and use on the lowest setting for max cooling; works GREAT. We use on high to blow out the air in the garage, creates great circulation; but found max cooling on a lower fan setting with ice added to the water. Unit is well made and easy to use.

The unit is a nice size, looks nice, and is fairly quiet. Unfortunately the pump did not work so I didn't get to see how it cooled, but Customer Service was very helpful & nice in accepting a return.

We are very pleased with this cooler. My wife would be complaining about it getting hot in our house when it would reach 80 in our house in the afternoons. She wanted an air conditioner to take care of the problem. Since we only have about 2 months requiring air conditioning in Denver, I wanted to try a cheaper way 1st. Boy am I glad I found this cooler. It is attractive looking and we use it to cool the family room on hot days. I bought this one because you could add Ice to it and it really works good. My wife and I are more than satisfied with this product. We would definitely recommend it to our friends. I believe it is constructed good enough to give us many years of service.

Easy to use, move from one room to another. Sends a powerful stream of cool air and you can control the direction. It is a bit loud but the sound isn't too bad. Works best when it's not too humid. Ice really helps cool it down too.

We have enjoyed this cooler since it arrived promptly and undamaged. It is used in combination with a small AC unit to help cool and to add humidity to the surrounding air here in Wyoming where the humidity is low.

Wyoming doesn't have enough hot days to justify an air condition unit for my house, but the 3 really hot weeks in July are killers! This unit saved the day. It arrived quickly, was easy to put together and reduced the room temp by about 10 degrees. Well worth the money.

I think this is probably a good product judging from the other reviews, and I wish I had received one that wasn't defective. Nevertheless, after one day of use, the pump didn't work and I had to send it back. Air & Water were completely responsive and I would buy from them again.

This is great for cooling the bedroom at night.Turning off the home cooler saves money. It maintains cool throughout the night without cooler. I love it.

Living in Nevada, is great but dry.The NewAir AF-351 evaporative cooler works wonders in this climate. It puts a bit of moisture back in the air and filters the air it cools as well. It is money well spent for a product that actually works the way it's advertisted to work.

I purchased the unit in hopes of lowering temperature in a single car garage by 10+ degrees to provide my dog some relief from North Texas heat. I tried the unit for three days, first with the garage closed, then fully open, and then partially open. No reduction in room temperature; and no relief from heat even when the unit is blowing air directly on the pet. Owner's manual warns against overfilling water tank, yet there is no way to tell how full the water tank is because the water gauge cannot be read even if you lay on your stomach with a flashlight directed at the gauge.

This unit seems to cool sufficiently, although it takes a bit to get used to the noise. The plastic cover over the water filling area is flimsy and refuses to close securely once opened - not a deal breaker though. The 2 biggest flaws are the water level window in the front - it's a dark plastic and you have to shine a flashlight on it and jiggle the unit so the water will move in order to see where the level is. The other problem is that once it's filled with water, moving it from room to room is challenging and not done without spilling water. A pull handle of some sort would be a big help. Air & Water Inc shipped the unit right away and I got it in short order. No problem at all with their service.

We live in a dry area where the humidity is 15 to 20%. The fan has adequate cooling when the temperatures get above 90 degrees in the afternoon. One reason we purchased it was to avoid a window unit which would need to be taken down each winter.

In the heat we have here in Rancho Mirage ( over 100 degrees) it was a pleasure to enjoy the cooler we baught. We have to full the tank every 2-3 days to give us nice humidity in our dry climate.

I purchased this to cut down on A/C bills. I figure if I sleep in ONE room, why cool the whole house. I set this on a timer, face it toward the bedroom and voila - very cool. I also use it when I'm home and the temp is under 100. The noice level is fine. And since it rolls easily, I can place where I want. I was glad to discuss with very SMART person before I used A/C and cooler at same time. "Can't do it-it defeats the efficiency of both". This is worth the price.

I am handicapped and my exercise room (man cave) is in second car space of garage. Average temp. the last 45 days 100*+. Without the cooler I would not be able to exercise. It does not cool the entire area; but, it does keep the area I choose to work out in bearable. THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME! Thanks for your swift delivery.

I had been looking for several years for a product to cool my kitchen in the summertime as I have no way to install an airconditioner there. I saw the ad for my newair AF 351 and the price was reasonable. I ordered the product and it was delivered a couple of days later. I have been using it ever since. I wish it were a little quiter and had an easier to read water gage but I can live with both as my kitchen is livable to cook in when the tempature reaches 90% out side. I have already recomened it to several of my friends.

I bought this evaporative cooler to cool off my second floor bedroom. It does a great job in our dry Colorado climate! Typically, the temperature drops about 6 degrees per hour. Putting ice in the water compartment helps with the rapid cooling. Only negative features are the noise level and the difficulty reading the water level. Pricing is reasonable and I received it quickly and in fine condition.

So powerful, economic and you will be very happy with it.

I've had the older model for three years in my retail store. It has been a savior for my employees on hot days. I just purchased a second one for more coverage in my 1500 square foot shop.

I'm very skepical about most things, but I decided to purchase the cooler anyway. 1st I was pleasantly surprised @ THE PROMPTNESS of the delivery. I got in in 3 days. The product cools my bedroom that I have had to get up in the middle of the night to lower the speed. I still have the air on, but can increase the temp so the air does not run as often.

use it in living room so not to run central ac . set temperture on central ac at 83 and use the new air for comfort. love the ice in it almost have to cover with light blanket great item

I have been using my girlfriends portable cooler she got from air n water and finally I was able to purchase the model for myself. It is easily over 100 degrees here on a regular basis and a/c is way to expensive. The model cools, filters the air, is quiet so I can sleep and easy on the electric bills. Air n Water is so easy to work with, they are customer service oriented and I would never buy a cooler from anyone else!
