I live in Texas and work a monthly trade show in outdoor pavilions. My particular area is actually over a creek and it's 100+ degrees outside and humid. During July and August, the vendors are just trying to survive. You have to keep you space. Swamp coolers are everywhere. I wanted one that made it easy to load ice which is the secret. Others have little trays or slots that are ridiculous. NewAir is perfect and comes with an ice tray to boot!

I just received my unit today. First I could not tell by the water indicator how much water was in unit. The instruction book didn't help, so I have water leaking out of the bottom of the unit. I don't know if I over filled it, or if it is a defect. I now have puddle of water all over my floors. A very expensive lession about buying items from places I am not familiar with. $160 dollars down the drain!

I've been looking for a way to keep my Apt. cool as summer is approaching. You see, I can't have those portable AC since it will need an outlet for the exhaust pipe so, I have to look for an alternative and find this air cooler here in Air & Water. Bot this last year. After unpacking and setting-up. I removed the back to see if working properly, as there was very little sense of moisture or coolness at the fan output.
I feel this is a well designed unit, but my unit is missing something. It could be that the media pad tracks to one side and air is just pulled in from the open end - rather than through the media(fully) ?
I've not messed with it, but it gets use on hot nights in the bedroom.

We live in Tucson and we have had an early summer. The machine has a strong fan and is quiet. It is easy to use, right out of the box.
However, the material that is suppose to get 'wet' dosen't hold the wettness well, thus not providing the cooling as it should.
I do not know if it can't handle Tucson heat which seems to be the case. We will be going to a higher eleveation where we expect it to work extremely well.
It is meant for a 'dry climate'. If the company can change the 'pad' this would be the most wonderful unit!!!!

This cooler is "ok" for its size. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and bought this in case of an emergency as the summers here are brutal. I read the other reviews before purchasing this cooler. Overall the build quality seems quite good. The instructions are simple too. This unit is only rated to cool a rather small area (100 sq feet if I recall correctly). I was impressed that it uses very little water. The downside to this feature is that the "cooling" it produces is somewhat marginal but it is better than nothing. Ice cubes can be used to help wih the cooling but I haven't tried this yet. Overall this is a good product you just have to understand its limitations and I would consider buying another.

Do not buy, literally is only a fan. Putting ice inside it as well as very cold water did not change the air. Was unable to blow cold air at all, let alone work like it's advertised. Do not buy, spend a bit more for one of the winder A/Cs.

Bought this cooler for a few reason, The HEPA filters help reduce some pet dander, and normal stuff in air. Also for what it was recommended for. It sits in the computer/office room. This happens to be a south west facing room so it does get warm (hot) at times during the San Diego East County Summer sun. We bought the cooler and within 30 minutes had cool air being pumped into the room. We guessed that it might take a few hours to get the room cooled however, it only took 1.5 hours to get a 23x13 square foot room cool to a nice working temperature. The feature of having ICE to help keep cool was nice and also helps not having to turn on the full AC. So we have been very happy with the cooler.

Received product and waited until the next day to set it up and use it. The system seemed to work but the water pad was not getting wet. Called Customer Service was told that pad needs to be soaked to get it to retian the water for usage. Soaked the pad until it was thoroughly wet. Turned it on again, checked pad and the roller was working, the pad was dipping in the water but the system still did not performwith cool air. Put an ice block in the ice area and still not cool. Checked the pad again and it was dry but was dipping in the water. Soaked pad again for a longer period. Pad was even dripping when I put it on. The pad stayed wet this time but did not come out with cool air. Now I have a very expensive, fan with air purifer but not an evaporative cooler. (Have two other floor models of a different brand and they work perfectly).

I purchased the evaporative cooler with the hope that it would provide cooling and added moisture over a regular fan at a lower price that A/C for a 300 sq ft room. With the product reviews being high for this cooler in all respects, I felt confident in my purchase, until I ran it for a day straight without any noticeable "cooling effects". This cooler did not provide any cooler air flow or improvements over my standard oscilating fan. I even tried the addition of ice, which was stated to provide additional cooling--I noticed no difference whether or not ice was added. This being an evaporative cooler, after a day of running it, you couldn't not tell a difference in air moisture either. So I was sorely disappointed that this product did not provide what it stated it would in terms of cooling.
On the pro side, the unit was easy to move and operate and quality seemed to be good. I was sorely disappointed that the cooling effects were not present, as I otherwise liked everything else about this product. However, I can't justify the amount paid for the same cooling I get from a regular fan. Not sure if this was just the particular unit I had or all these units are like that.

As a renter, I have encountered many different kinds of windows that must be used to ventilate an air conditioner. Not all window types are condusive to air conditioners. An evaporative cooler is a great alternative. It can be moved from room to room and is light weight as compared to most portable air conditioners which are rather heavy. This product produces a gentle and cool breeze as opposed to the frigid air one often finds produced by many ac's.

I bought this cooler to help cool my garage but the cooler does not have media that soaks up enough water to provide cool air. Instead of a pump the media is cloth type that rotates like a conveyor belt down into the base of water with a fan sucking across it. This would be sufficient if the fan was behind the media instead of in front of it. No cooling but if you need a quiet fan this is great.

Great portability! I like that you can use either water (I use ice water) and/or ice. It certainly is not an air conditioner and is not as efficient in higher humidity but I knew that from the reviews before I bought it. It is definitely more efficient that a fan, which just blows hot air around. There was some relief. I plan on trying this unit in the winter to add some humidity - there's a lot of static electricity during the winter. I would purchase more units for all of the major rooms if I could afford to.

For the price, you can't beat the AF-330 to cool smaller rooms. I would not recommend it for larger living rooms (over 500 sq ft), but it works well for bedrooms and other smaller rooms. When the humidity goes up, its effectiveness is diminshed like you would expect from an evaporative cooler, but otherwise does a fine job. I was able to shut off my 2nd AC and use the AF-330 in its place. I think if I purchased one for each room, over the long run I should be able to save on eletricity costs - I'm still experimenting with that so we'll see. Overall though I defintely recommend the AF-330 for smaller rooms.

We live off the grid in a 400 sq foot home. The cooler worked well, even now that we are in the moonsoon season. It was rated to only a 150 sq foot space. Water seems to last, and if you are really hot, the ice tray helps. Uses about 50 amp hours on low and 80 on high. This, if you are off the grid is very manageable .

I have had other kinds of evaporative coolers in the past so maybe my expectations are higher than most people. If you are looking to cool a room, than you should not buy this cooler. this cooler does NOT use a water pump to circulate the water in the cooler like most better products i have seen. it uses a roller and cloth to pick up water, which it does a poor job of doing. the cloth is not very absorbent. I wish I had not wasted my money on this product for now i have to go buy another one.
I had even placed a thermometer in front of the cooler, and the air is no cooler than the air temperature inside the room.

First let me say that I am very impressed with Air & Water--the delivery time was amazingly fast. It's not them that I'm bummed about. I'm really disappointed because after reading all the fab reviews, I thought I had found a good portable evap cooler. I DO KNOW about evaporative coolers--have a large house-unit that we've used for the past 10+ yrs in our Colorado home. It makes the house COOL, sometimes even COLD. So my expectations may be high. Our house is an 1100 s.f. Craftsman with the "master bedroom" towards the back off of the kitchen. The evap cooler we have is in the middle of the house and cools off everything extremely well, except for the bedroom. The cool air can't travel around corners too well. We have floor fans trying to direct the air there and it helps somewhat but not really enough. Hence, the reason for trying this cooler to put in that room (approx 100 s.f). It's loud and blows air but doesn't make the room significantly cooler. Even ran it an entire day while out and came back to a warm room. Tried with doors closed and with open. Ice/no ice. No difference. Doesn't seem to actually put any significant amount of water in the air (running 3 days now on about 1 water fill-up)-- which is what cools off dry air. Hope this helps you make your decision.

This my second AF-330, the first one was so great I purchased a second one. Very quite and inexpensive to operate as a compliment to my Air Coditioner. My power consumtion is notiable lower now that I have both units in sevice. I live in Yuma, so use the unites to cool the house in the mornings, th AC comes on at least two hours later than in the past and turns off sooner.

Machine pretty good, my buddy has the same one but a couple years older. I'm not sure how well it cools down stuff but at least it cleans the air. It's a bit loud, got to turn the TV up quite a bit. I bought it for 123 bucks and not sure if I threw my money away. Please read other reviews, I'm on the fence bout this machine, I think a fan does about the same cooling job as this machine, at least it's energy efficient.

I recently purchased the AF-330 Swamp Cooler as a low cost alternative to buying a more expensive portable air conditioner. I was hopeful that it would provide some needed heat relief in an upstairs room of my home. Bought the product to save on air conditioning, but was pretty disappointed with the cooling. It doesn't really cool much unless you sit right in front of it.
That being said, I am sneezing a lot less in the mornings, and really do love the ionization. It has helped with my allergies and the air smells better in the room with the Swamp Cooler. Make sure to empty out water to keep it fresh. I bought an air conditioner but am keeping this as well.

The unit works fairly well here on the east coast. Using unit in a new four season room that does not have air conditioning in it. When it is 90 or more degrees out you can see a temperature decrease, but it isn't like if it was an air conditioner. Still it is better than when we didn't have anything in the room. We have had a really hot summer here and I would recommend it. Didn't get an air conditioner because of the large size windows we have. Plus the barn siding is just too nice to make holes in for air conditioning. This is the next best thing.

We realize that this product is intended for use in dry climates with little humidity. We had a new four season porch that was not ducted for air or heat. We were relying on the adjacent vent. The room needed more. We were exposed to the swamp cooler in New Mexico and we were very impressed. This particular unit is good but only when used in less humid places. It must be used based on the humidity levels. The conveyor belt that is in the unit must be working in order to pick up water in the unit and blow out cool air. I had that problem with the unit as the belt was not working. I like the principle. But the development leaves something to be desired. The belt that goes into the water sticks and doesn't carry water up. There is no way to tell if it is working without taking the back off of the unit. This is the sole reason I would not recommend it to a friend. I am willing to work with it. Most would not even know why it is not cooling when the belt sticks. I was actually going to send it back except they told me I had to pay the freight. I would never order another one.

Using this when the heat is high is not at option. It does well at night. It will not cool the 5th wheel when the sun is up - it works at night. The hepa filter in it severely restricts the air flow - works better without it. Can be removed. Cannot seem to see there is any ionization taking place. The equipment is a cute one. It has good number of features on it along with a dinky little remote. Easy to handle and also easy to move from place to place as it is light in weight. It is going to work well in less humid places effectively but not in Denver. In high humid places it will just blow the air like an ordinary ceiling fan or a table fan. Places where there is no humidity can definitely use this product as it is reasonable and works excellent.

As a fan, the AF-330 works well. However, it is practically useless for cooling. I tried everything: filled the water tank, put in the ice block on top, checked the wiring. Nothing. The air coming out is room temperature. At least it ionizes, which makes the air in my small window-less office smell fresher. It's effectively solved the stuffy air problem in my office, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who really needed to cool a room.

I use it when its still "cool" enough that I don't have to turn on the overhead swamp cooler in the morning and at night. Also with the other swamp cooler, for spot cooling. It works very nicely when directed towards me while I'm sitting or lying down. Doesn't really make the space itself much cooler, so when I'm doing housework it doesn't really make a lot of difference, compared to a fan. I like the ion feature. It is easy to move and I move it frequently. Easy to fill. The "swing" doesn't work and, the way its designed, I don't see how it can. I wanted it to work as a humidifier too but it doesn't put out enough water to cope with NM dryness by itself. I will have to use it along with other humidifiers in the winter. I received it in a timely fashion and it was in good shape.

Before I bought the new air af-330 swamp cooler, I bought tayama brand but I have to return it 3 times with different problems till I gave up on it and this is just a span of ten days. Then I bought a sunpentown brand at frys but it seems that it's just a regular fan, the tayama brand even produces colder air than sunpentown. While having sunpentown, I ordered new air af-330 swamp cooler and it arrived 2 days later. The design is way better than tayama or sunpentown. No need to worry about spilling water while moving it. it produces colder air and the ice compartment is great that you don't have to mix it with the water and water will last till you wake up in the morning not like the other two. once i tried the new air af-330, I went to return the sunpentown at fry's and ordered another new air af-330. i already have centralized ac but it's not evenly cooling the house and these swamp coolers are great to compensate the difference in temperature where needed. i even set the ac to a 3 or 4 degree higher than my regular setting because it is somewhat cold if swamp cooler is on at the same time and I know by just doing that, i will save more on my electric bill. So far, everything is working perfect and looking forward if my electric bill will be way lower this year than last year.

The pump went out on my portable swamp cooler, so I decide to replace it rather than take the time to have it repaired.
The web site was very easy to use, the price was good, the item was delivered within 24 hours but, it doesn't cool at all!! The $15 floor fan that I got does a much better job. It is quiet, but takes too much floor space for just being a fan.
I will be returning the product. I will see about repairing my old unit or maybe trying a different brand.

You boast an "easy to read water level" for this machine. For the life of me, I can't find it, & if I think I have found it, then the display doesn't work. I've had 3 major floods on the living room floor because I can't see the water level.
Despite that, though, when fully iced; in it's "ice only" compartment, & set to "cool" this machine is a cut above all the other portables I've ever had.
It shoots out cold air from all sides, when programmed to do so, but, the remote control lacks a "swing button". SO WHAT'S THE POINT OF HAVING A REMOTE IF ALL FUNCTIONS ARE NOT REMOTELY AVAILABLE.???????????????????

I bought the unit to cool an average sized bedroom (10x15) and found it to be marginally effective. The air is only slightly cool and the fan is much louder than I expected. On the up side it was one of the cheaper units, shipping/delivery was quick and spot on and the ion air filter was a good touch.

The New Air swamp cooler is fantastic!! We don't have a/c and our 2nd floor bedroom gets hot in summer. It's not to big or ugly, and it cools our room and the entire floor tremendously! Easy to use, a little noisy when it's on high, but well worth it!!! Wish I'd bought it long before!

This product was purchased for three purposes. Increase humidity, filter the air, and cooling. The centrifugal blower is a plus although on medium and high speed it is a bit noisy for a bedroom. Low speed is fine. The air filtering capability is good. The rotating water pad required some conditioning to start holding adequate amounts of water but was fine after a few days.
The humidity is very low in Arizona this time of year but the maximum temperature drop I could record was 1.8 degrees F. It would be nice to see a pad designed to hold more water and have a greater surface area contact with the air. Maybe some cotton strips sewn on the pad to flap in the breeze would help evaporation.

Remember that I am from Southern New Mexico! I have a central Swamp Cooler in my house, which was broken. I know how swamp coolers work. This machine works as well as a fan. It maybe made the room 5 degrees cooler, that is with ice. Do not waste your money purchasing this product!

Although I love the air filtering and ion capabilities, I find this unit to fail at cooling a room. I expected my one bedroom apartment to be overcooled when in fact my living room isn't cool enough unless I run my air conditioner with the swamp cooler. I am somewhat miffed and let down.

I really like the AF-330 Swamp Cooler. I have it in our home office and it really cools things down fast. We tried it in our bedroom, and for me, it was a bit too loud to sleep with, even on the lowest setting. The noise level, even on high, does not bother me in the office.
We also bought the AF 310 Tower Fan so I tried it in the bedroom and it's perfect. It doesn't seem to get quite as cool as the AF-330, but it is very quiet and the height is nice for a breeze over the bed. I also love the humidity it adds to the air... I wake with younger looking skin!

I read the reviews (positive and not so positive) prior to ordering three units in April 2009. Because of the milder heat in No. California this year we did not really need to use all three units until the 95+ weather this weekend. I have an upstairs condo with about 975 sq. feet. The one unit is for the living room and if on swing and close (about 8 feet away) does the job and keeps us cool. The bedrooms are fairly large rooms and cooled off so much we had to turn the unit off! The remote came in handy! With our floor plan, we get the morning sun in the living area and the afternoon/evening sun in the bedrooms.

I lived in Arizona for several years and was familiar with Swamp Coolers.
Now I am Alabama with extremely hot weather also. I have a 2 story home with 2 separate cooling units. Since only 1 room of the upper level is used, I find it very expensive to run the AC for the one room. I am using the NewAir Swamp Cooler to cool this room. It performs to my expectations and is very attractive too.
I have just received shipment today an additional NewAir Swamp Cooler which will be used to cool a tent for my 5 Teacup/Toy Poodles when they are outside in the play pen /tent area when we are camping.

I use the swamp cooler in my bedroom. I literally put it 2 feet from my bed to get the "cool" air. I have a thermometer in my room, and it reads the same as the AC setting for the house (the thermometer is right next to my bed too!). I'd likely get the same results if I put my tower fan 2 feet from my bed as well, but the tower fan doesn't have wheels, so it's more annoying to move around(by the way, the ceiling fan AND tower fan are running simultaneously with the house AC and swamp cooler!). If I'm going to have to put the cooler that close to me to feel its effects, I'd likely go for something smaller that could sit on my nightstand.

Am very happy with product. I first bought one last year and have been very pleased with it. My son bought a different model from a different company and his broke after about 2 months of use. I bought him one like mine this year and he is very happy with it. We use them constantly although we have to turn off the cooling feature late at night or it gets too cold. Although later in the summer that wont be an issue. They run pretty much around the clock during the summer months and hold up to the heavy load.

This unit is nice in appearance and has lots of attractive features, however it simply does not significantly cool my 100 square foot shed. With the doors and windows closed (roof vent open), it actually made the room hotter. It did seem to be mildly effective with a door open but no where near what I have experienced with previous evaporative coolers (I expected it to take of 10-20 degrees off the ambient temperature in 10% humidity but it did nothing, even when using the ice feature). It is about as effective at cooling as a simple fan. I should have listened to some of the other reviews. Also, the display lights are so dim I can't see which functions are selected most of the time.

When we received this product, we were excited and set it up immediately. After experimenting with the speed and direction options, we felt very little difference in the temperature of the room (we have an atomic clock). Then we used the ice tray and it did cool the room somewhat. After doing more research on this model and talking with customer service, we knew then this model was too small for this room. We have since sent this model back and ordered a larger unit to satisfy the size of our bedroom.

I received my NewAir last Aug. since then I have used almost everyday during the summer I used it to add coolness in the hot summer nights. This winter I have used to put moisture back in the air at night so the forced heat doesn't dry me out. We purchased the AF-330 Swamp Cooler last summer for our summer home in Lake County, California. We were very disappointed with its performance. It does not send cool air to our room. The pads take hours to get wet and putting ice in the cooler does not help. We called your company soon after we purchased the item and were told that it was working properly. For our needs, it is not working at all.

I use it in the summer months which start at the end of May till the middle of October. I love the AF-330 because it is easy to drain, move around, change the water and clean. The thing I don't like is: When cleaning inside the unit, the plastic parts inside are sharp!! I have cut or scraped myself a lot. You could round the edges off so you wouldn't cut yourself from the sharp edges. Also put a clip on the two screws that retain the rear excess cover so the screws don't come unattached. I also think the fan blade pitch could be changed a bit for quieter running. Very noisy unit!! It does make the room comfortable to sleep in.

No miracles here. This unit does provide some cool air and is refreshing to have on, when you are close by. I am not convinced it does much in the way of actually dropping the ambient temperature and I live in a dry climate (where the unit should work best).

I've lived in Yuma, AZ now for over a year and I bought two of these units around June of 2009. Yuma is very hot during the summer and it can even be humid from time to time but when I used these units by putting water into the tank and using the ice block as directed there was absolutely no difference in the air temperature. Just to verify that it wasn't the humidity affecting the units I used them during the winter here as well (average temp in Feb is around 65-75F with zero humidity) and they still have no noticeable temperature change. I believe it's the rotating water pad that is used in the units...I don't believe there is enough air flow through the pad to create the "swamp cooling" effect or the pad is not absorbent enough to retain the water. I will consider different units next summer.

This portable swamp cooler is user friendly, easy to fill with water or ice in separate sections and cools the air to my satisfaction. Living in the Mojave Desert where daytime temps can get into the triple digits, this unit is able to keep my bedroom as cool as the rest of the house. I have no need for an AC unit.

This was probably my biggest purchasing mistake ever. I tried the unit with water only and then with a tray full of ice in an attempt to cool my garage/workshop last summer and it just did not prduce any cooling. I think the high humidity levels at that time defeated the unit and it stands virtually new and unused as an obstruction in my garage to this day.It will likely be scrapped and put down as a sad and expensive experience. When I can afford it I will get a proper portable air conditioner.

I have a work-shop utitlity room and it gets so hot in there. Needed something more than just a fan. It is amazing. It cools the space very well. I am very pleased! This is a great product. The description is completely acurrate. Nice powerful motor creates great cool air for small spaces. Great design. It's a little hard to see the water level since the tank is black and the water/ice entry is a bit small but not enough to aggravate or sway my decision to buy another one, if needed. I would recommend this products to others seeking some relief from hot weather but being on a budget. Thanks! My shopping experience was great.
