NewAir AD-400 40 Pint Room Dehumidifier

I live in rainy Southeast Alaska (over 80" rainfall annually), and needed to get a dehumidifier that is simple and effective to use. I did try to get another brand, but found they didn't ship to Alaska. Anyway, I received word from the same company that supplied and deals with dehumidifiers to take a look at what NewAir had to offer in a similiar capacity model I was wanting. The price was right, and it had all the options I was wanting, and they shipped it to Alaska too! The unit works perfect! The instructions are simple to follow. The water tray is easy to remove, and we did accidently forget to remove the water tray once, but the auto shut off worked like it was designed to do. We keep the unit in our bedroom and it is quiet! My significant other is so happy with this unit, and if she's happy so am I. If it works in rainy SE Alaska, it will work for you too! - OH! Our heating usage went down too! Another benefit I almost forgot to mention too. It will mean less $$ to heat our home.

This dehumidifier is really great! At first we thought it was too small for our basement, but we hooked up the continuous drainage port so we wouldnt have to worry about emptying the bucket and its running like a champ! Heavy duty, light weight & quiet. Our basement feels & smells better! We are very happy with the unit & really excited about the great deal we got on it. We ended up paying almost $20 less than what the others wanted plus free shipping, plus received coupons for our next purchase. Can't beat that!

The product is working well...looks good and I recommend the product to other potential buyers. Some issues - bucket capacity is a little too small so I hooked up a drain line on two units. One works great and the other one has leaked on me a few times. (Its possible gravity is working against me because the floor is not level. After a few tweaks, the jury is still out. Wish it wasn't that sensitive however,,the floor isn't THAT uneven)

I purchased this dehumidifier model in December 2009 my first one based on the reviews. It was quiet and no problems for two years then I knock it over on the carpet and had some problems. Purchased the same model in January 2012. My first one was quieter and would give it 5 stars. The second one I would give 4 stars because it is not as quiet. My only real issue is when the first one arrived it had a crack around one wheel. Reported it to Air-N-Water and they replaced it including shipping. Almost a year has passed since I purchased the second one. I was on vacation before Christmas and had it turned off. When I returned home I wiped it off and turned it on its side and discovered a crack in the bottom plastic plate. I never bothered to examine the bottom of the one I purchased in January 2012 and don't know if I have any recourse after almost a year. I would say to a purchaser examine the product after receipt of the dehumidifier because after receiving 2 dehumidifiers with cracks in the bottom the product is being mishandled by whoever is sending it or it is damaged during shipping. I work in a warehouse and see product mishandled but I see the way UPS handles merchandise and it is likely the cracks happened this way. Air-N-Water did make good on my first purchase and I give them 5 stars for that. On a side note after a year of sitting on the sidelines I plugged in #1 and tried for a few days without a hitch.

While I loved the compact design and low noise of the ad-400 compared to the other dehumidifiers I've owned, I couldn't believe how small the water tank was. The water tank was poorly designed, difficult to remove and when full the water splashes out because it fills up right to the top, making it difficult to carry to the sink. It was advertised as a 40 pint dehumidifier but after reading the small print it is "up to 40 pints a day" not 40 pint size tank. Even though I have used it for three days non-stop the humidity remains between 64-68, not good considering it is being used in a small sitting room. My old machine had the humidity down to 40 in a relatively short amount of time. Since I just received it, I am considering returning it.

My AD-400 is great. Extremely quiet and dries the room perfectly. Installed in garage, it can be 99% humid outside and 40% inside. Would highly recommend.

I am very disappointed with this product. I ordered it to replace an old Soleus dehumidifier, which I'd had good luck with until it finally died. I opted to switch brands because of the great online reviews and attractive appearance of the NewAir, but I have not had a positive experience. The bad: My NewAir seems incapable of accurately reading the humidity level in the room and has never once brought the humidity below 52 even though I have it set at 40- it often remains as high as 85 even though I have the New Air running non-stop. My apartment is only 650 square feet and yet the NewAir can't even keep the bedroom at a reasonable humidity level. While it's advertised as a 40 pint a day machine, I haven't found it to be capable of more than 10-20 pints a day. Worst of all, it can only hold 10.6 pints so you have to empty it often and it is poorly designed, leading to spilled water almost every time I empty it. The good: It's attractive, easy to use (even though it doesn't work well!), and the noise level is reasonable, though still louder than I expected and louder than my old Soleus.

Super quite, effectively decrease my room humidity from 56% to 46 in one day. Easy to use and set up. I may buy one more unit for other room

Overall I'm really satisfied with this dehumidifier. It has been removing lots of moisture , very quiet and extremely easy to use. I'm using it in a basement that is very damp, and it has really improved the air.

Works as advertised. Sucks the water out of the air. Better instruction book would help, but other than that a good product.

I replaced an old machine with this unit and am impressed with the quality and quiet operation. I use it in my basement in Michigan and it works great.

Live in Virginia; can get very muggy here during the summer. Frankly, didn't expect much of the unit but was happily amazed at how much water it removes from the air -we have mostly been using it in our living room. In general it's been keeping the humidity level to 38-41%. We tried it in our bedroom over the weekend. It's over our garage so it can get quite warm with the heat rising. Started it when we left for church and amazed when we returned about 3 hours later - it was very cool and at one point it registered "lo" which I knew to mean the humidity level was below 35%. We are very satisifed with this item

Died after about 18 months or less. It is quiet compared to most, and sucks a lot of moisture out but very small bucket so you have to empty the bucket a lot. Annoying beeping everytime you take the bucket out too. I really liked it though until it died.

I like this dehumidifier very much. It is so much quieter than the one we had before. I can listen to music while sewing or scrapbooking without having to shut if off. The air in our basement smells better too.

Overall decent product. Small and relatively quiet, but doesn't remove anywhere near the 40 pints per day advertised. 20 pints per day would be generous when operating nonstop. The water bucket included in the unit is too small. Fortunately a continuous drainage port is provided, however the instruction manual says to use a hose (not included with product) that has an inside diameter of 9mm. 9mm doesn't fit. What you need is a hose with an insider diameter of 3/8", which is just slightly over 9mm and provides a perfect fit. I bought a plastic bin that holds about 60 pints of water, placed the dehumidifier on top of it, cut a small round hole in the side of the plastic bin for the drainage hose, and connected the drainage port on the dehumidifier to the bin. The bin needs to be emptied about once a week with this setup.

This dehumidifier is as-advertised. I use it in a laundry room with not-so-good ventilation. I run it for 1 hour after using the washing machine and the humidity is largely gone. Any issues with the size of the bucket can be avoided by connecting a hose to the output nozzle and running it directly to a sink/drain. The machine is very easy to use and is quieter than an average window air-conditioning unit.

This product works very well and have not had any problems.

I bought this for my trailer. In cold weather when camping we had humidity condensation on the bedroom wall above our heads in bed. I do not want mildew. I have only had this for several weeks now and it is now December, so I can't talk about summer. Currently I keep it 45 degrees in the trailer; it is 30 degrees outside. It uses 225 watts when the compressor is on and 35 watts when only the fan is running. The noise from the compressor is very low - almost hard to tell when it is on over the fan noise. The fan noise seems about normal, quiet, but not super quiet. I like the setting on % humidity going down to 40%. I have it set on 50%. It took perhaps 4 hours to lower the humidity from 70 to 50 (on the device meter). The other humidity meter I have reads about 57, but I think that is expected. My intent is simply to dry out the trailer as much as possible without going over board. The water container has not yet filled, but I'm sure I could put a leak proof connection on it. However, I set the AD400 in the shower, so I don't care if it spills. I like the size and the nice handle. I would have more to say about its features after using it for 6 months.

I am using this dehumidifier in a basement. However it is so quiet that I wouldn't hesitate using it in a bedroom. It runs so quietly that I am constantly drawn to check the fill light. It works so well that I will plumb this into a drain. There are only two downsides to the unit. It is about one quarter the size of the unit it replaced so the bucket has to be emptied more often, and it doesn't completely shut off. The fan runs constantly circulating and filtering the air even when it is dry enough.

I live in Seattle in an apartment without a bathroom fan, so moisture is a big problem. The unit is working great, and my apartment is much drier, more comfortable and it feels warmer without turning up the heat. It fills up about every 36 hours. It is not as quiet as I expected it to be, but not terrible. Shipping was very quick. I recommend this dehumidifier and Air-n-Water.

Great product;would have rated overall at 5 stars;but I do have to empty it at least 3 times a day.I know that means it is doing its job but I'm not home every day,so I don't get to empty it as often as I should.Otherwise-a 5* product!

Works very well and is the quietest dehumidifier I could find. You can use it in a bedroom and not be bothered by noise. Takes the humidity out of the air to your selected level and has auto shutoff when bucket is full. Easy to carry or push from room to room and quite easy to use. Very pleased to have this unit, sure beats others I have had by a long shot, especially the much quieter operation.

in the short time i have use it has exceeded my expectations like removing the musty smell from my utility room due to the ionizer that it has and the humidity it removed and remained fresh after moving to other areas. i have also noticed i can raise the ac temp and still feel comfortable with it running . i also like the controls and that it has a timer.

When I purchased this item I thought will this small portable unit be able to handle my mom's basement that gets a lot of seepage. I can't believe how dry the basement is since turning it on. Got rid of all mildew smell and water. It is by far the best dehumidifer I have ever seen!

We use this humidifier in a music studio and find the noise level very workable. Our studio is 40'x24' and this unit is not designed to cover a room that large but on most days it keeps up well enough. Even though this de-humidifier has a built in humidistat, we have it plugged into an external humidistat switch and it functions well. The main thing we wanted was a very quiet unit and this one fills the bill. On the downside, the bucket is quite small and needs to be checked twice a day.

We wanted something quiet and efficient and this seems to do the trick. It would be nice to have a larger reservoir, but we check it everyday so it's not that much of a problem.

Purchased NewAir AD-400 Dehumidifier last year, based on good reviews. Was so pleased with its performance, just purchased a second one to replace another dehumidifier purchased at a local home retail center that quit working after only 11 months. The NewAir unit is sleek, compact, and extremely quiet, unlike other brand dehumidifiers I have previously used. Bucket is somewhat difficult to empty when completely full, but not enough of a problem to keep me from highly recommending this unit.

I purchased this product for my sons basement bedroom. The basement has always smelled musty and damp. I do have an older dehumidifier running in the main basement area, but it just didn't seem to keep up. I plugged in this product, and within 2 days, my basement smelled 100% better than it ever had! It amazes me how much water it removes from the air. It is relatively quiet, and very easy to use and clean. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a medium-capacity dehumidifier.

When it was working this was a nice unit. Did a good job dehumidifying my basement. But with the compressor failing after only one season of use (May to August of 2010) I would not recommend it.

The first unit was defective and the compressor would not work, however the xmlnsnt unit seems to be working fine.I quess I got got a lemon the first time. I purchased a NewAir last year and it is still working great. I just needed two for the amount of square footage I have in my basement.

Love this little machine. My allergies are under control and I no longer suffer the dreaded morning coughing thanks to this machine. It is easy to move from room to room. I use the condensed water it pulls from room to water my plants the next morning and plan on using it in my motor home when we are traveling....(Gas prices may hinder that plan).

We had sooo much water dripping down the walls and on the windows, we couldn't even see out the windows. In one of our bed rooms we started getting mold. It is amazing how well the dehumidifier has cut down on the water dripping down our walls, not to mention the mold!! I just wish I would have bought one years ago.

This is perfect for removing moisture in a room. We are currently using this in our bedroom to assist with mold issues on the windows. It seems to be helping. Only drawback is you really need to dump the water receptacle daily so it doesn't fill up all the way. It's not easy to remove the receptacle to dump out the water, tends to splash a bit. Overall quite happy with the product.

I bought the portable dehumidifier for my basement and it has worked great. Simple to setup. I can set the timer and go. It automatically shuts off when the container is full of water or you can run a hose to a drain and it empties on its own. Definitely a good buy and affordable.

I'm very pleased with my dehumidifier. It works great and is very quiet running. I'll be even happier when I get my husband to hook it up to a hose so I won't have to remember to empty it. I would recommend this product to all my friends and family.

Have had the unit operating for about 4 days. So far it works as advertised; very quiet and efficient. I did read in other reviews before I purchased that users wished the water compartment was larger and I do agree with that critique. However the ideal configuration would be to have a constant drain connection. In the meantime I do not mind emptying the compartment. I do wonder how I would handle the situation if I went on vacation and was not around to empty out the water pulled in. But on the whole the unit works better than the Frigidaire unit I have in my basement.

Bought two of these. Have been using one in my ground floor garage area and the other in a ground floor bedroom/bathroom suite, both of which are slightly below grade. After the first week, the humidity had dropped a good 15%. Have been using them without hosing and the basin typically fills up on each after about 24 hours. Pretty quiet.

We've had a lot of rain here in Southern California and being near the beach found our bedroom a little damp at night. The NewAir AD-400 came to the rescue and performs like a charm. It is relatively quiet, easy to use and so far (several weeks of almost continuous use) is performing without issue - having removed several gallons of water from the air and making our bedroom comfortable. I would recommend this little unit to anyone.

I live in wet and rainy Washington. I had a constant battle with mold in my room, but, now that I purchased the New AD-400 I have no problems. It is very easy to operate and very quiet I have no problem sleeping with it on and I am a light sleeper. I would recommend it to everyone...I'm thinking of purchasing a second one!

The product arrived quickly and in good shape. It performs as advertised and looks good. The wheels make it easy to move. The humidity indicator is about 20% off from my reference unit. I adjust the machine according. When removing the water tray a little water drips on the floor from the supply tube. When you turn the unit off it doesn't keep the humidistat setting. It goes back to default. Otherwise very happy.

We needed to reduce the humidity in our small, single-car garage by about 20 percent. I wasn't sure this little machine could do it...but it did! It consistently reduces the humidity by 10 to 20 percent so that we can store candy in our garage for our business. This unit is a great value and I'm glad we bought it from Air & Water.

We us the NewAir Ad-400 in our 40 Ft Motorhome when it is in storage in our barn as well as when we are staying at an RV resort in the more humid parts of the country. The drain is either routed via a hose to a sink or we've installed a drain through the defroster vent so that it can be used in the front of the motorhome. It does a nice job of eliminating the musty smell caused by stale air, pet odors, higher temperatures and humidity at a fraction of the cost of running the main HVAC units. Good value for the money.

The room dehumidifier was very easy to set up and to use. I have been pleased by the amount of humidity that is removed from the air and the lack of noise in running the unit. Very good product!

Easy to move around with carrying handle and wheels. It's in a very humid bedroom/bathroom and does a fine job dehumidifying this 10 x 12 foot space. The catchwater tray spills a bit while removing it so I hooked up a plastic hose to the shower basin so I wouldn't have to mess with the catch water tray. When I had concerns about the unit, the support staff was fast and cordial. This was a very fine company to do business with.

Very quiet, remarkably, I did not realized a 40 pint was that small nor it was that easy to move around - as I had a 32 pint from years ago and it was heavier.

We are amazed how much water this dehumidifier has been collecting for us. It is very quiet and efficient. We just wish the manual was more user friendly. It would probably work even better if we could figure out what all of the displays are telling us.

We purchased the NewAir AD-400 to use in our motorhome. After a couple of weeks of usage, it has kept the interior drier without the musty smell we've been getting when it sits for even a few days in our barn. The drain is routed to the sink which drains into a 70 gallon grey water tank which we'll empty every few weeks, if we don't use the motorhome. The setup was easy and the unit has worked very quickly to create a better environment in the motorhome.

We were trying to buy one of dehumidifiers recommended by Consumer Reports but they were hard to find and the prices weren't that good. Then someone told me about Air & Water. After reading customer reviews on this unit we decided to give it a try and we have been greatly impressed. We use it in our master bedroom and bath area, and I have been stunned by how many gallons of water we've dumped down the sink since we started using it. It runs quietly and actually helps our one-year old sleep better thanks to the white noise it provides. The room also feels and smells noticeably better. Thumbs up all the way around! If I could change one thing, I'd make the tank a little bigger but that's it.

We have used New Air Ad products before and the new and improved AD-400 model is performing at a level in comparison with our previous model. Great for eliminating mold and allergies for an allergy prone family. Thanks New Air!

The unit is easy to use and remarkably quiet. However its bucket capacity is small so using it without a direct drain is not recommended - you'll always be emptying the bucket, several times per day. Also in 80% humidity conditions the unit can reduce humidity but can not get it to a goal of 50%, so its dehumidifying capacity is limited also. Overall a light duty design - if that's what you need this unit seems pretty good. Our initial unit had a problem - when used in direct drain mode the water drained onto the floor from inside the unit instead of down the hose. Kudos to Air & Water, they arranged a swap at no cost to us and the xmlnsnt unit is fine. I had planned to buy a couple more of these units for other parts of the house, but I'll keep looking as I need a heavier duty product.

This little guy really does an outstanding job pulling unwanted moisture out of the air. My damp, concrete floored and walled basement is much more comfortable and pleasant with the regulation of moisture in the air. It's easy to wheel around to get to all corners and damper areas. I would highly recommend the NewAir dehumidifier.

I have used dehumidifiers before. I find the light weight allows me to move it easily an important benefit. I like the combination of dehumidifier and air purifier which save electricity and space. My first order was damaged due to shipping/ the speed and ease of the xmlnsnt process was really great.

The dehumidifier does a wonderful job. The only objection I have is the water container which if very difficult to remove without spilling water on the floor. If it had some type of handle to remove it, it would simplify the situation. I like the fact that it is so quiet.

I purchased this product for our printroom in our company, if it gets to humid in the room we have trouble with our printer as well as our paper. Using this product has cut down on jams in our printers as well as the paper becoming wrapped. Also this product is very quiet, you always see that in some of the write ups on products but sometimes they are only quiet in loud factories, this product is true to its word in that sense. I also love the timer on this product, I come in, in the morning and set it and forget. Thanks for a great product!

Perfect unit for smaller areas. Needs to be emptied every 5-6 hours set @ 40% setting. You can attach a drain hose (not included), however, the smaller water recceptacle is easy to empty and not heavy. I have a townhome on a slab and with the extremely hot humid summer this year it has helped to reduce the use of my a/c by reducing the humidity. The unit is very quiet and has the added air ionizer. Just plug in set humidity and your in operation. Moves easily on it wheels and small enough to slide into a coat closet when not in use.

Ordered the AD400 on line because of features presented in the write-up and the price was reasonable. I ordered the extended warranty and have finally received same. I have a dampness problem in my basement and have been through about 4 units in the past 11 years. I need the option of the extension to the drain in order to connect a hose for continuous draining but your connection is too small to conveniently connect to the garden hose I used for the previous unit. I purchased the proper connections and made the hook-up, checked to ensure the drain hose was not clogged and left the unit to do it's job. In a couple of days floor was covered in water from the unit. Because the drain hose from the unit is so small, there is not enough water in the hose to force the water out unless there is a continuous down hill slant to the drainage. I corrected the problem and reconnected all the hoses. All was fine until I moved the unit slightly and, unknown to me, the hose connection to the unit (inside the tray) loosened. By the next day, I again had a floor soaked with water, because when the draining water filled the bucket, the shut-off mechanism did not operate properly and the water spilled onto the floor. It would appear that I have corrected all the issues, but I am disappointed in the way the drain hose connects to the unit. There is no way to clamp the hose because it fits through the collection bucket which has to be installed in order to make the unit run. I am pleased with the performance of the dehumidifier as it has taken the humidity level down from over 80% to 55% (When the unit is not spilling water onto the floor). You would do well to redesign the drainage connection.

So far so good. Seems like a well built unit. Time will tell since my last dehumidifiers only last a year or two at the most I'm hoping for at least 3-4 years of life. Thanks.

I purchased a NewAir AD-400 and started using it. I also have a Whirpool dehumidifier and it is twice as noisy as the NewAir. So, I purchased second NewAir and retired my Whirpool. I live on the Pacific Ocean and the NewAir has a lot of water to deal with. They have been working great and are so quiet.

I purchased the NewAir AD-400 for the printroom in our company, it tends to get humid in there and then the paper jams in the printers. Since putting this product to use we have noticed less waves and curls to our paper. It has also made it easier for us to use our folding equipment because the paper lays more flat. Thanks for a great product.

This product is quiet. My friends with other dehumidifiers also commented so after comparing with theirs. It is light and efficient. However, it produces warm air. The dehumidifier produces air warmer than the room temperature. This is certainly not desirable in a hot weather, even in the basement.

We have been running this dehumidifier nonstop since it has arrived and are very pleased with its operation. This PRD is very quiet- even quieter than our Kenmore Air purifier! I don't notice it even when it sits right behind me. We live in a 750 sq ft apartment with 20 plants, two showers a day, a 20 gal Aquarium, and a dishwasher and the PRD fills the collection bucket (about 1 Gal) every 12 hours. It is light, easy to move and the bucket isn't huge- making it easy to pick up for emptying. All in all, this is a great product.

We are amazed at how efficient this unit is and had NO idea the air in our office is so humid. My only complaint is that the the reservoir is not the easiest of things to remove, especially when it is full. Otherwise I am completely pleased and satisfied.

Ok, this little thing did raise my electric bill a little but not enough so that I would quit using it. Set at the top of the stairs it dehumidifies my whole house. With the windows shut I can set it at 50 and the house is comfortable. Sleeping at night is great again. Even without air conditioning this is worth it. I only wish I had bought one sooner.

I thought I had calculated what a 40 pint size would be, but the tank is much smaller than expected. It does the job, but I have to empty it more often than I would like. I use the unit in my basement and this was a xmlnsnt for one that finally died.

The system works as advertised and is very quiet. I particularly like the ability to add a drain hose, so I do not have to worry about emptying the tank.

It's a great little unit. 40 pints is not as much as I had expected, but it does a fantastic job for its size. It's quiet and the digital display is better than my old dehumidifier. My electric bill went up around $30 from running the unit full time at the 40% setting.

This is by far the quietest dehumidifier we've ever owned. We could feel the difference in our basement within 24 hours. And with the hot humid summer we're having it has worked like a champ!

Because of all the wet weather this spring and summer, the basement was extremely humid and uncomfortable. Since it is occupied space, I needed to do something. This dehumidifier has done a wonderful job. I had to run it almost constantly for several days to bring the humidity levels down, but now I just need to run it for an hour 2 or 3 times a day. It's clean and quiet, and easy to operate. An excellent investment.

This unit is great so far, but I have only used it for 2 weeks. I had two Haier brand dehumidifiers and that only lasted 2 years and hope this will last a lot longer. Seems to be well built and looks great. I'm thinking about ordering another unit however I will have to save more money before ordering.

It took a while to get the humidity out of the basement and I thought I purchased one that was too small....but no--it is now working fine! It would be good to have the tubing in the box for the automatic draining but that's it. Online purchase and price was great.

We are satisfied that the machine is actual dehumidifying the basement air BUT despite our attempts we've been unable to get the ionizing function to come on and stay on. The manual provides no guidance in this matter. We also had to permanently glue the drain hose to the machine b/c we couldn't find one that was an exact match and has a small drip. It went into the bucket but still that defeats the purpose of having a drain hose.

Purchased NewAir AD-400 for my basement. Plugged it in and it has working fine. I tied in the drain to my furnaces condensate pump so no need to empty pan.

So far the dehumidifier has been doing a good job. It is very quiet and much more efficient than my old one.

It was put to work as soon as we got it and has been working quietly and efficiently ever since. Each day, it condenses the 40 pint container full of water. That's 40 pints that's not hanging in the air and contributing to the dampness and rust potential in the basement. It's quiet,very portable, and so far, easy to use. The manual, while complete, seemed a little over-complicated in explaining how to use it. It's light-weight, attractive, and we have 3 kids living in the basement and it's never in the way or disturbing to them in any way. Thanks for this great product, and the fast service and delivery.

Started using it in the bedroom to take the swelling out of the door. Decided using it in the dining room would be better. Empty the bin twice a day. Humidity is still high. Have another unit in the basement I bought June 2010. It is continuous along with the breathe right unit. The humidity in northeastern Ohio has been high this summer. Hopefully, come fall it will be better. They're quiet units. On high speed a little noisier.

It's been great having this dehumidifier , couldn't believe how much water was in the air, I have asthma and the humid air really bothers me specially since I have a swamp cooler, this little dehumidifier really helps, love the little light that shows the numbers for how much the humidity is. It also helps clean the air, I have a couple of dogs and a cat , thank you.

It's light and quiet, but don't expect it to really dry out a damp basement of any size. My previous one was only a 45 pint but it seemed to pull much more moisture out than this one. Also, finding 9mm plastic tubing is not easy. If Home Depot doesn't have it, I would not call it mainstream.

I've only had it a week, but is is a vast improvement over my last dehumidifier which is SOOOO noisy. The fan runs all the time (at a cost of ~$4/month) and I was a little miffed at that, but now I understand why... to keep the air circulating and to get a better read on the humidity. I like the fact that it has an ionizer and charcoal filter. I also like the size. My one complaint is that the holding tank is way small and can fill up overnight when the humidity is up there. However, there is a hookup for a continuous drain and it's about a foot off the floor, so the hose can make it over the shower curb okay.

A very quiet dehumidifier. It's taking the place of my 70 pint that was very loud. It seems to be doing a good job. I had to give it a chance to catch up because my basement was very wet after my old one stopped working. One of the reasons I bought this one is that it should be so much cheaper to run.

I really love my NewAir dehumidifier ad-400. It's lightweight and easy to move around. I bought this for my basement. Within 24 hours, the area's humidity level dropped 20%. I'm amazed that this unit is so powerful. The only thing that I had trouble with was the hose hook up. The brochure tells you to get a plastic hose with a 9mm inside diameter. Unfortunately, my hardware store didn't have any metric rulers. I guessed and brought home a 3/8" id plastic hose and it fit perfectly. Drains like a charm.

Had the unit for over a month. It is a very quiet unit. I like that it has a digital readout of the humidity level in the room. The only drawback is the bucket is hard to remove/replace. Would recommend to hook up a hose for continuous drainage.

This wonderful machine has made my house comfortable on days when the temp is in the 90's and the humidity level is in the 70's. Within a few hours the humidity level in my big house is at 50. I put it at the top of the stairs and its made life a lot better. Sleeping with this thing is a lot better. It's quiet and efficient. Definitely worth the price. Quick shipping.

I have no complaints whatsoever. The product was priced nicely relative to other choices, delivery was prompt and the dehumidifier is effective and quiet. The true test is yet to be met - how long wil it last.

The unit is used in a storage unit in the hot Florida Keys. We were having trouble with humidity leading to mold on the items in the unit. After adding this unit the humidity is down to 64% and the mold is gone!

I've had the unit for about 6 weeks. I've connected a hose to the drain port instead of using the bucket. So far, works great. It's pretty quiet. I didn't realize it had an ionizer as well. Nice bonus. It's incredibly small compared to my very old unit.

The lower level of my home is a half-story below ground level. With the unually wet summer we have had, it has been very humid. This dehumidifier does a wonderful job clearing the air. It is so much more comfortable now, and there is less danger of mold and mildew. I highly recommend this item.

I recently purchased the NewAir AD-400 Portable room dehumidifier to use primarily in my basement. For me, it has worked Fantastic! There was so much humidity in the basement air, that for the first few days, it seemed like I was constantly emptying the unit, but after that, my musty basement smell left, and I don't have to dump water as often. I should have hooked up the unit to the drain, which was an option, but I moved it around the room to get the best placement. Definitely a good investment and a Great Product!

This is a great dehumidifier! At first we thought it was too small for our basement, but we hooked up the continuous drainage port so we wouldnt have to worry about emptying the bucket and its running like a champ! It's quiet unit, would have been nice to have a hose packaged with it. I picked up a hose at Menards, but I would have just ordered one with it if possible.

Is quiet to operate. Water reservoir is pretty small. Would like it better if it held more water. Does put out some heat at the top. I use it to keep the humidity down due to asthma.

I like the digital display humidistat, smooth operation, very little noise, continuous drain spout (optional), and sleek design. It is a little undersized for what I need. My old dehumidifier was larger and pulled more water out of the air, but it ate electricity and made a ton of noise. This NewAir 40 pint take a little longer compared to the beast that I had before. Overall, it seems to be a great piece of equipment. I would recommend it to anyone who needs to dehumidify 800 sq ft or less.

It seems to do the job, but the collection tank is woefully small to use without purchasing a drain tube, and the instructions aren't in sufficient detail.

Purchased the NewAir 40 pint for our lower level - we live in the country surrounded by woods and lots of rain... If we get a particularly heavy blowing rain it will seep in the corner in laundry area and this quiet little machine sucked the extra moisture out in 1 day of running - was very impressed and glad I made the purchase! Purchased this dehumidifier for use in our basement that sometimes smells musty after a rain. We hooked it up to drain directly into the floor drain so there's no emptying necessary. So far everything works great!

The Dehumidifier received in good condition and immediately started removing moisture from our lower-level bedroom. We have had problems with humidity and a musty cellar smell. After 24 hours the room was fresh smelling and comfortable. We will use this unit throughout the summer and hope to get many years of service. I had two previous dehumidifiers that were not taking any water out of my basement. This NewAir had been fantastic. Basement is dry!!!

Unit is quiet, that is good. I am not sure that it removes as much water as it claims. Also the continuous drain hole is at the top of the tank so it doesn't function. I would definitely spend a few dollars more and get a better unit. "You get what you pay for".

Very good unit, works well and very quite. I use it in a basement area and should have purchased a larger capacity unit but it works very well and would certainly recommend this unit.

Overall very pleased. Quiet, low heat output, compact. The only negative thing is the size of the bucket. I understand the compact concept limits the size, but with a 40 pint per day capacity, it fills three to four times per day. This is fine on the weekends, but, as we both work, it is off during the afternoons. This is the best performing unit we have ever had.

Seems to be working well. Never shuts off, I remove the water about once a day. The water bucket is a light weight plastic; hope it lasts.

I bought the AD-400 to replace an old noisy dehumidifier that the previous owners left at our new house. It is very quiet for a dehumidifier. I also like the two speed fan, the multiple humidity level settings and the timer. The only thing I don't like so far is removing and replacing the bucket--it is hard to get lined up and put back in place. Therefore, I plan to buy tubing for continuous flow to the drain.

I use my dehumidifier in the basement. It is not sufficient to remove the moisture from the air. It is the same size as the previous one I had but does not work as well. When I empty the bucket, a small amount spills. The dehumidifier does not dry the spill in a 24 hour period. I feel I wasted my money. Air & Water were very prompt in sending the item.

I have used the unit now for about a week and it seems to work well. The only issue I have is that when you power off the unit, you have to reset the humidity control number. I would like to see that the setting would stay even when it is powered off.

Simply put, the dehumidifier removes water from the air in my basement, and does it well and quietly. A caution, or qualifier, however, I have used the device for only a few weeks. The real proof will be in it the length of life for the dehumidifier. Will it still be working in 6 months, a year or 5 years? My previous Whirlpool dehumidifier was very noisy and heavy, but it performed for 7 years.

We live in Mobile - coastal city and extremely hot & humid! We were always dealing with sinus problems and our Doctor recommended a dehumidifier might help us rest better at night. I researched so many sites and decided on this one, the positive reviews were a big help. We have been using it now for about a month and absolutely love it. The first day we turned it on and set the humidity level at 50, within 2 hrs we could tell a difference. At first, I was a little skeptical about this dehumidifier, but since I started using it, I've noticed a significant amount of moisture has been removed from my basement and that it is very efficient. The only complaint that I have, which is not really a major issue, is that finding a hose that will fit on the outlet to use continuous draining was a little difficult; otherwise, this product was worth the money.

I purchased my AD400 a month ago only been using it the last week. It has been on 24 Hrs a day. It is quiet especially on the low speed. I think it will be a work horse for a long time. So I had my wonderful wife order two more. I will check back in a month.

I am very pleased with this product. The operation is so quiet, I didn't believe the compressor was working properly. However, the AD 400 operates 100% as advertised. I recommend this product very strongly. I have had three other dehumidifiers from various manufacturers and they are noisy.

We just bought this dehumidifier and are very happy with it. Although there's no db rating except "silent operation" on the website, we decided to give it a try and found this unit very quiet and easy to set up.

The unit is very quiet but since it is in the basement noise would not be a problem. The water tank is small and is also hard to remove and replace. I have had other brands that are easier to use. Setup was a breeze.

The dehumidifier was put in service 06-10-10. I have it in the utility room adjacent to the living area in the basement and do not hear its operation it is quiet. It also has helped odor and humidity in the basement. For me what will make this a great product is if it lasts 10 yr. The last dehumidifier I used was a whirlpool and it only lasted a few years.

Very small quiet dehumidifier. Won't accomplish much in a very humid locale like New Orleans. There are a couple of things that could be improved upon with this dehumidifier. 1) Dehumidifiers vent the heat they produce. Why vent it from the top of the machine? When it is vented via the back- you can vent it out a window- or at least not have it blowing and heating the room. 2) There is a mechanism that tells the Dehumidifier to turn off when the water collected reaches the full level. That mechanism is made of plastic. It has two plastic pins that allow it to seat in and move. When one of those tiny pins breaks you cannot reseat the mechanism and the dehumidifier will not turn on.

Works good no problems really with the unit just thought I was getting a dehumidifier that would hold up to 40 pints in a tank before I have to empty it. Not have to empty it 4 to 5 times a day to get up to 40 pints.

This unit draws and collects moisture very well and the quiet operation is wonderful. It's on 24/7 while trying to get to ideal level of 50%. The bucket is difficult to remove especially for anyone with arthritic hands. Also, a cover over the bucket would help prevent water from sloshing. With today's technology, it seems a company would be proud to warrant a product like this for more than 1 year instead of providing extended warranties which are a waste of money to the consumer.

It came well packaged and shipped quickly. I have an 1100 sq ft basement and it does a good job of keeping the musty smell gone. Only negative comment is that it didn't come with a drainage hose, which is necessary as the tank is very small and needs to be dumped twice a day when it's warm. Does a good job, is quiet, another plus. Have only had the machine a couple months so we'll see how it does for working life.

I bought this unit because of the design and size and was not disappointed with either. It pulls a substantial amount of water and the ionizer seems to make a real difference, yet it is light enough that I can lift and move w/out straining. I do wish it had an auto on/off, but it does not - the dehumidifier does cycle off when reaching the desired humidity level, but the fan continues to blow. All-in-all, I'd say it's a B+/A-.

The tank is difficult to get out without spilling and has to be emptied often. Puts out quiet a bit of heat which plays on your AC bill. It does seem to do the job but the above disadvantages are more than I care to deal with. I wish I had been at home at the end of the 30 return guarantee because I would have returned it. It's not so bad, but it's not so great!

I have water coming into my basement during heavy rains, that leaves through the floor drain. Without a dehumidifier, I can develop moisture problems. When my very old dehumidifier quit working, I sent for the Newair AD-400 dehumidifier. I installed a drain hose leading into the drain. I leave it running and forget about it. It does a good job. I have no complaints. No noticeable change in my electric bill. Thank you Sir.

I have had other products that don't even come close to performing the way this ad-400 unit performs. It is simply amazing how much moisture this unit draws out of my room. I would recommend this unit to anyone that has a high humidity in any area of there home.

Works great, really easy to use plug and push button and its working. Tank is super easy to empty, and even has an alarm to tell you when the tank is full. Double check your numbers and make sure you get the right size dehumidifier, after a few weeks I noticed the room was a little to big for the unit I got. AirNWater was great at helping answer all my questions, Will be back when the hot months come for an AC!!

Had to send the original back for a xmlnsnt, which is working fine so far. It sucks out alot of moisture (good) but the bucket is remarkably small (not good). I remain concerned about long term reliability. The electronic controls look cheaply constructed and prone to failure, and the owners manual is of little help, so I'm guardedly optimistic.

Not only is this dehumidifier good-looking, it runs quietly! If it doesn't "die" within a year like the reviews for other dehumidifiers seemed to point out, I will be pleased. I will be even more pleased if it runs for a dozen years! (My previous one lasted 15 years!) If a person is able to drain it continually, that is best, since its reservoir is small. I use mine in the basement and have no place to have it continually drain. Even so, I go down every day to check it, and empty it every day or two. It does a wonderful job.

Purchased this product because parts of the house have mold problems. So far, unit is working very well, is very quiet, and I like the Ionizer. House does not smell musty like it used to. Nothing bad about it so far.

I've only had the unit for a few weeks but it's very quiet and works well to get the moisture out of my basement. It shipped quickly and was packaged well. My only complaint is that the bucket is small and has to be dumped frequently. The drainage hose (for continuous drain) was not included and is smaller than the regular sized hose used on other models. I'm having a bit of difficulty finding the right size to fit. Other than that it's a great price for a good machine.

So far our dehumidifier has been working quietly and effeiciently. If I had a complaint it would be that the water resevoir fills-up quickly (seems smaller than the older models we used to own) and requires ME to empty almost every other day.

I needed a dehumidifier for our partially finished basement. While our basement is not extremely damp, I felt it necessary to keep the humidity level down. From the day it was delivered and I installed it, the dehumidifier has been working perfectly. Also, I couldn't believe how quiet it runs, even on high speed. I purchase a piece of 3/8" diameter clear plastic hose and ran it from the unit to our sump pump. Everything is working great. Would definitely recommend to a friend.

Installed about one month ago to reduce humidity in a garage. Vented to outside, humidity setting a plus - it seems to maintain the desired setting over time. Time will tell if will hold up during the coming summer heat and humidity.

I own the house where the unit was delivered, very promptly I might add. The following comment is what the renter sent to me after he hooked the unit up and had it running: Hey L.: I hooked up the tubing, plugged in the dehumidifier, and it is running! You can vary the humidity setting and I kept it at the default 60% setting. Since the actual humidity in the basement is currently less than that (58%, yes it can read that!), the compressor hasn't turned on yet. Once it gets a little damp after a rain, it should kick on. The running fan is ultra quiet, so I'll be curious how loud it will be when the compressor is on. It looks like a really nice unit. Thanks again. Rick

We use our NewAir-400 mostly in the living room, we have a large family and on a busy hot night it gets super humid its great to have the air moving. Plus it keeps my hair from getting too frizzy. I guess my only problem with it is maybe a bit more powerful our room is really big.

I am very happy with the NewAir AD 400 Dehumidifier. We have been using the dehumidifier at night. We sleep with our dogs in our bedroom. The digital read out of the humidity tells me how well it worked during the night. I was very impressed by how much water it took out of the air after the first use, when I emptied the reservoir. My wife wishes it could be a little quieter when it runs at night. But over all we are very happy with this machine and we have all ready suggested it to others.

This dehumidifier works great to keep the dampness in check in our basement. The air purifier works great to eliminate the dampness smell. The drain connection is great as we don't have to constantly empty it. It is much quieter than our previous dehumidifier.

Had to return first product because of malfunctioning. Air & Water Returns Department was quick and easy. Just hooked up xmlnsnt unit and seems to be working well. Owner's manual is lacking and doesn't match up with actual operation of unit. Am cautiously optimistic, biggest concern is durability of electronic controls and how I will get xmlnsnt parts down the road.

When the first model I received did not work, I was a bit upset. The company stood behind its product, sending a new dehumidifier with no cost to me. The return also was free and with very little inconvenience to me. The new model, purchased for use in a damp basement, is quiet, efficient and does everything the publicity said it would. I would definitely recommend NewAir to friends as well as dealing with Air and Water, Inc.

This is newly installed and it will take some time to assess its value in reducing mildew and humidity. I would like to review this product 1 year after installation in a beach house garage subject to extreme temperature and humidity changes throughout summer and winter seasons. The presets for humidity level and continuous drainage features hopefully will allow me to achieve suitable levels over the course of a year.

We bought this dehumidifier because our basement is damp and smells damp. The dehumidifier shows 40-60 humidity, but collects very little water. Maybe needs to be emptied every couple of weeks. It is very quiet, but does it work-------------------who knows. The directions tell you NOTHING!

We placed our new dehuminifier in our basement, after returning another brand to our local Home Depot. The NewAir is quiet and efficient, the main reason for returning the last one. The NewAir is also light weight and easily moved around. This unit is quiet enough to place in a bedroom if wanted.

The product is used in the basement, my daughter lives in the basement, she is visually impaired and all the other dehumidifiers we have tried were just too loud for her, when I turned on this dehumidifier she went wow that sounds really great it is so quiet. Due to the extreme weather we have had in New England our basement got flooded twice, the dehumidifier is doing a great job at helping get this basement dried out. All in all I would say this is a wonderful product.

Nice machine. Might have been interested in the Energy Star unit, but wasn't sure it would work as well as this one. But this one is compact and quiet and doing a fine job in our basement. For us here in the US, it would be convenient if the instructions said that the 9mm tubing specified for continuous draining is 3/8" I.D. - which is not a frequently offered size in smaller hardware stores ... they generally only have 1/4" or 1/2" I.D. available.

I have a 37 Bertram at the Galveston Yacht Basin that had a moisture problem in the engine room. We tried space heaters but they drew too many amps and tripped breakers. The NewAir does a much better job, and draws about 75% less amps.

This was the perfect size dehumidifier for our 2200 sq ft house. I would highly recommend it. The hose easily emptied directly into our sump pump hole, though a slop sink would work just as well.

This is a great dehumidifier. It's so quiet, you can sit right next to it and barely hear it. It sucks the humidity out of my basement like crazy. I've never owned a dehumidifier that worked as quickly or quietly as this one. Plus, it's very nice looking. Highly recommend!

We had a heating pipe break. All the extra water went down between the walls into the room down stairs... we took the ceiling out, walls out, but still had to dry out the beams and the rest of the wood in the room... we use this dehumidifier for 10 days to dry out the rest of the room so we could repair it without any mold or mildew developing. Our plumber told us to get one to dry out the room... So we did and are so glad we did. This saved us many future problems we could have had with mold and mildew. It was a wonderful preventative of future problems... Thank you ...

We had water damage in a bedroom. We bought this & hooked it up and it works great. I do like the feature, that when the water tank is full it beeps then a red light goes on and the system shuts itself off.

The unit is very efficient and extremely quiet unlike other units I have had. The only draw-back is the very small capacity of the water tank. It is also hard to remove and re-install. However I would buy this unit again.

An awesome product when it is working properly. The first one I had was not functioning and took no water out of the air. Got it replaced and new o e works wonders. I have to empty the water container every 24 hours. Thank you for an awesome product. I use mine in a RV.

This unit is very quiet, and works well if you use the collection bucket. If a drain hose is connected, the unit sometimes leaks water. It appears that there is not enough pitch to the drain line as it leaves the back of the unit. I would have given this a good rating except for this issue.

I didn't notice how humid my house is until I purchased NewAir AD-400 Dehumidifier. It works great, very quiet, easy to move from room to room, and user friendly to operate its functions.

The first unit I received leaked water badly. The second unit performs flawlessly! I love this unit. Making the return was seamless. I contacted the company, and they promptly sent me a new unit, and all the needed paperwork, and return labels. I use this dehumidifier 24/7 alternating between 2 rooms at far sides of my home. Easy to relocate as it is lightweight, has handle and wheels. And this baby can suck the moisture out of the air like a thirsty pup!! Fairly quite (about the same as a fan running on medium. Wish the bucket was a bit larger.

Our winter's in Tennessee are dry enough and no dehumidification is needed. I will be using the dehumidifier often during the spring and summer. At that time, I will be able to evaluate your product.

Item arrived very quickly, and was put to use within minutes of arrival. For some reason, since we installed a new, hi-efficiency gas furnace, our humidity has been high, as high as 65% at times. This unit has been running 24-7 since we got it, and has been able to get it closer to maybe 45%, but nothing lower, as hoped, 40% is its rating. It makes a tank full of water in 24hrs, and that depends on where it is placed, right now its closer to the cold air return, and that seems to be the best location so far. It isn't overly noisy, and seems to be working well, the water container could be a bit more user friendly, it's not real easy to remove, but otherwise, seems to be doing close to it's rating. I'd say for the money, it's about as good as we had hoped for, we haven't received an electric bill since we installed it, so I can't say how well that end of it is doing, although if the energy ratings on it are accurate, it consumes about half the electricity as an Energy Star rated one. We'll see.

The unit does use less electricity but is not powerful enough , it never shuts off. My old unit rated at 30 pints does a much better job.

The day I received my AD-400 I had heavy dew on the inside of the windows and the unit showed over 80% humidity. With in 2 days I stabilized at a very comfortable 60%. I am getting close to a gallon of water a day in the unit with is saving all of my hard earned belongs. Last year I got Pneumonia from all the moisture and I can tell it will not happen this year! Wasn't sure at first buying something like this online with so many choices and not being able to see it in person but I was surprised that it work as good as it does. It's quiet and it brings down the humidity from 75% down to around 40% to 50%. Might buy another.

This Dehumidifier has worked really well for our 40's stucco 1600 ft home. We have always had a issue with moisture and this quiet machine has taken care of our condensation problem. The NewAir is easy to roll around from room to room, but we have found that it takes care of the entire house even though we leave it in the living room.

I've been running the machine for about 2 weeks, I have a pretty severe moisture intrusion problem. It performs very well. However, there are a few things that I was disapointed with. The onboard hygrometer's sensor must be mounted near the water collection container. When the machine is plugged in and not running, it reads about 10% higher than it actually is. And even while it's running you can't trust it. I bought a separate hygrometer, do it if you have a severe or just bad moisture problem. Another issue is that it doesn't turn off when the set moisture level is selected. The fan continues to run until you physically turn the machine off, I found this odd and didn't impress me. It does turn off when the water collection container is full. Speaking of which, I was really surprised at the volume of the container, it's only 2 quarts. It may remove 40 pints of water in a 24 hour period, but you're going to be emptying it at least 10 times. I don't regret my purchase, but I don't think I'd buy another one. Cheers!

We needed a good dehumidifier and we don't have many choices here in Hawaii. We found yours online and read up on the feedback and really liked what we read. So we thought we would give you folks a try. Well, it turns out your machine is great. We are using it in a large walk in closet that we had a mold and mildew problem, and that problem is no more...thanks There is a market here in Hawaii for dehumidifiers, the leeward side of Oahu is wet alot of the time and there is a mold problem. You folks should put a store here.

The NewAir 400 just the right size-40 pint a level of your home--basement to--in a 12hr.period only half to empty once low running sound comes from the unit and it takes very little current to run the ad 400.at a hose and bucket and you can forget about it. Not heavy to move from room to room.

Unit works great but the fan should only run when the unit is dehumidifying. I use this in my basement.

The amount of water we have to remove every day from this device has been astronomical. Who would think there's so much water in the air? Our mold problems have decreased dramatically thanks to this dehumidifier. It's not without issues though, as it does not really dehumidify below 50% humidity as evidenced by the empty water container and it does beep annoyingly loud for far too long when it fills up to the max. 3 beeps would have been fine, but the longer beeping does ensure that somebody hears it and empties it out, so in a way it works as a feature. For the amount of money we spent on this thing, we got more than we asked for, especially compared to the other dehumidifiers on the market, which have seemingly absurd prices per performance compared to this little guy. So if someone wanted a dehumidifier, I would definitely recommend this model.

This machine is very quiet and we are so pleased with it. It's easy to maneuver around (on wheels, slim design). We use it in our basement mostly in the summer months when we experience more humidity. It keeps the basement really dry. We like that it kicks off when it reaches the set point. It has an ionizer. It also has a connector so it can empty into our sump pump basin versus into the product's own basin. It's just a great product and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dehumidfier.

I have a WET beasemnet. This dehumidifier not only the dried it out but it was so easy to use. The first day it filled up and it was still light enough to carry and dispose of. I only use it four times a month now and let it run for two days and the humidity in my basement stays under control. Great product!

The dehumidifier helps to keep my home dry. A little over a year ago my fianc?' and I were in California to marry and the driver of our car fell asleep behind the wheel. My fianc?' was killed and I was in the hospital for 2 months, on life support for 30 days. I lived, but my body was pieced together with hardware which I am slowly having surgery now to have removed. I have extreme nerve and muscle damage, plus many other things wrong. My surgeons have said stay out of the cold and dampness, little hard when I live on a canal. Used to keep humidity down in a humid area of the house. Works great, keeping humidity down to about 45% when ambient is around 85% in a 10 x 15 room. Eliminates rusting of metal tools and devices. Great Product.

I have owned one AD-400 for two years with no problems or complaints. I was so happy I brought a second one about a year ago no complaints and I felt the price was right. I have recommended the AD-400 to friends and those that purchased one have been pleased. I use mine to dehumidify a small green house with great success and the power consumption is very efficient.

I was impressed with how quickly I received the item and how well packaged it was. Unfortunately, the purpose I got it for has been delayed. I got it for our motorhome which is having a new roof, headliner, etc., installed so we have been unable to use the dehumidifier so far. Check back with me in a month or so and I will give a more complete response.

My house is on a dirt crawl space, and it gets a lot of dampness in the spring summer and fall. I have used it to keep the house drier and it is doing the job very well. I am not here all the time, and I have hooked a hose up to keep it going while I am gone. So far it is doing the job quite well. The real test will come this summer when I will be gone months at a time, and keep the house air conditioning at 82. I will leave it set at low fan, and the humidity level at 65.

Works great. It's a little noisy, more so than claimed. I use it in an RV, 240sq ft. It drains to the outside of the trailer.

This unit works excellent for the needs I asked for. As I presently reside in a motorhome with a condensation problem. The machine works excellent, it is more than efficient, quiet, and very inexpensive to operate.

About a year ago, my old Capehart40 dehumidifier that I used in the garage got so noisy and ineffective, I junked it. After quite a few hours on the Internet, I decided on the NewAir AD-400. I set it up with a drain tube to a utility sink and started it. To this day, it runs full time, quietly and effectively removing moisture when needed which is mostly during 9 months of the year down here in tropical Florida. Congratulations on an excellent product. I also know my electric bill is less due to the much more efficient compressor.

We bought this since we are over-run in our home with humidity for some reason - which shouldn't be the case since we live in the desert technically. Most people around here have humidifiers attached to their HVAC systems, but not us. In any case, we received this, plugged it in and off it went. I have read one complaint about the manual - well, I had no problem with figuring out the controls and display. I like the humidity indicator - although it isn't a very accurate one (it's within 4 or 5 points). It would show 51 or 52 when it was really 55-56 (I had borrowed a rather expensive humidity sensor from a friend). But then for a $189 unit, the one they have in it is probably good enough to give an idea of the effect of the machine on the surrounding environment. It was pulling water out of the air very well, and the noise level was acceptable. What noise you do hear I think is just air movement, not from the fan. So overall, I would rate this as very good in terms of function and noise level. Ultimately this little unit is not going to help us. We have found that our problem is much bigger than this little guy can deal with.

I plan on using the dehumidifier in the basement to complement the house central air system. The machine is quiet when in operation. I set the machine on automatic, and fit a hose to the condensation outlet to empty directly into the drain. Thanks again for the superb and effortless buying experience.

This well-designed, attractive & compact unit has totally solved the moisture problem in a damp basement bathroom. The whole place smells better. It is almost silent in operation. It has been running full-time for 2 weeks. If it lasts, I would call it perfect.

My Wife and I are renting a house. For the last 7 months we have had mold grow all over our bedroom. We would clean it with bleach but it would pop up after a couple of days. I was looking for a dehumidifyer for our daughter's basement, which gets light seepage. This unit has an ionizing grid and carbon filter that helped clean-up the air and reduced the "basement" odor. Having a hose outlet to drain to the sump worked out well. It's a benefit to not have a threaded hose fitting. Just go to your hardware store and buy the needed lenght of 3/8" I.D.(?9mm)plastic hose and your set. Glad I found Air-N-Water.com

Very light, looks good, works great. I think it is pretty quite my wife likes to turn it off at night so she can sleep better.

Currently residing in my older motorhome, and condensation is a big problem. Research suggests that a dehumidifer would help with this problem. The dehumidifer purchased (AD400) is performing excellent, removing up to 3 gallons daily on low. The living conditions are now so much more comfortable. The machine is of excellent quality, the design takes of very little room, and is very quiet in it`s operation. I would definitly recommend this product for those with a moisture problem and limited space for setup. The design is sleek, quiet in operation and very inexpensive to operate. A must for the avid RV`er.

Purchased a dehumidifier for my boat. Works very well. Runs nice and quiet. Recommended it to a friend who has also purchased one.

We have extra moisture in our home. Anytime we took a shower or did the dishes the house would seem saturated with moisture and condensation would form on the windows. This dehumidifier is excellent. I turn it on for a few hours in the morning and run it for a couple of hours in the evening. I empty the bucket once a day and have noticed a significant decrease of moisture on all our windows! I even seem to be having less allergy symptoms. It has a sleek modern look and is so quiet! So far it has provided us a more comfotable home and it the air even feels healthier. I haven't seen the utility bill yet, so I hope it hasn't increased our electric bill too much.

My basement had flooded and there were no de-humidifiers available locally at the time I needed it. I chose the one I did because of it's light weightness and the fact it could be used as an air filter also. It has been running non-stop for almost two weeks and is performing great. I liked the design. It is easy to use and moves around on wheels with ease. I had thought the water collection container was going to be bigger though. For anyone looking for an easy to use, very quiet light weight de-humidifier, this is the one.

Purchased this dehumidifier to lower the humidity level in our house. It performs quite well - we've seen the humidity drop from the 85 percent range to the low 50 percent range, and sometimes even a bit lower, which is a great improvement. It's very light and portable, and seems to be well built. It's very quiet too. In hot humid areas, the product will still dehumidify, and do it well, but it's important to remember that all dehumidifiers which contain a compressor/fan/coils/etc. produce warm exit air. In this product, it seems to be only slightly warmer than room temperature, and so far, the advantage of the lower humidity outweighs the disadvantage of the warm exit air. But we're still evaluating it over the long term.

I was a little skeptical that this machine would do a good job, but I was totally wrong. The combination of dehumidifying, ionizing, and light weight of this product makes it a great addition for homes. It's perfect for most seniors or persons with disabilities, too.

I chose the AD-400 because its description seemed to meet my needs for our smelly basement. The cat urine smell is completely gone and the air quality is so easy to breathe. Smells so clean! It looked modern, sleek and lightweight. Very easy to handle and move around. Quiet to operate. I definitely would recommend this to anyone with moisture problems! I no longer have to leave the basement because of breathing bad air.

We purchased a dehumidifier for our house because our humidity was 65% to 75%. Windows were fogging up, windowsills were soaked. It works very well. It is rated for 500 square and our house is 1280 square feet, and it works very well to keep humidity down to 50 %.
