Question:
what is the hook-up?
- rita v. on 2014-06-09
Answer:
This plugs into a regular 120 house house outlet. It does a good job. The tank holds a half gallon of water. I use it in a little chapel/meditation house that is 120 sq. ft. with a high ceiling. I use it at night when the house is not in use. I would recommend it. It's small and easy to move around because it's not real heavy.
- Mary Ruth W. on 2014-06-14
Answer:
No hook ups required, other than 115VAC power. This is a stand alone unit. Works well, but a bit noisy in confined space. Well worth the money to keep humidity low (I live in Florida). Hope this helps.
- Andrew W. on 2014-06-10
Answer:
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. The dehumidifier plugs in to a regular 120v household outlet. If I've misunderstood your question, please clarify and resubmit.
- William B. on 2014-06-09
Answer:
Rita, As long as you plan on collecting the condensed water in the "tank" built into the unit, the only connection is plugging the electrical cord into a standard 120 vac wall outlet. The other option you have is to continuously drain the condensed water to a drain and that would simply require connecting the supplied tubing to the unit and running it to a floor drain. This would preclude the need for emptying the tank when it gets full. Contact me with any further concerns/questions about this unit - we got it to dry our shower out after every use to eliminate mold and it is light/small enough to move in and out of the shower on a daily basis but powerful enough to keep the shower dry after a couple of hours.
- George S. on 2014-06-09
Answer:
A vinyl hose can be attached so that it can continuously drain. Then you don't have to empty out the water receptacle container.
- Joseph M. on 2014-06-09
Answer:
The unit has a regular electric plug that plugs right into your outlet. It has a compartment for empyting the water. It shuts off when full. Great unit. Have used for a year and no problems.
- Kay H. on 2014-06-09
Question:
what is the hook-up?
- rita v. on 2014-06-09
Answer:
The New Air AD-250, is not a hardwired unit. This unit uses a standard 115 volt plug.
- CustomerServiceSTAFF on 2014-06-10
Answer:
Standard wall plug for electric hook up?
- Chris H. on 2014-06-10
Answer:
Sorry, I haven't done the permanent hookup. I just plug in the grounded 110v plug and keep an eye on the water level.
- Gary M. on 2014-06-09
Answer:
Electrically it runs on 120v ac. Plumbing it either empties into its own container or you can bypass that and install the aquarium tubing and have drain into a sink or tub continuously. Note when it's own container get full it shuts itself off and won't run until emptied.

Question:
Will this one be good for a dorm?
- Anonymous on 2014-08-07
Answer:
Yes, I think so...it's worked well for me in my 14x9' bedroom...
- Stanton M. on 2014-08-11
Answer:
Just fine for a small room
- Jeff P. on 2014-08-07
Answer:
Yes, it is relatively quiet (compared to larger models I've had) and should have enough capacity for a typical dorm room.
- Dale W. on 2014-08-07
Answer:
I have two-one works and one does not, better buy two!! One of mine just ices up and that means no more moisture removal.
- Peter F. on 2014-08-08
Question:
Would this be good for a basement storeroom?
- Anonymous on 2014-08-12
Answer:
Yes, it would be good for a basement storeroom. I have had mine for over a year and use it in a base ment apartment. If it is very humid, it can fill up in a day. Auto shut off. Easy to take water container off to empty. Have been really pleased with this product.
- Kay H. on 2014-08-12
Answer:
I would prefer a room dehumidifier that I could have set on a timer. It runs constantly. I also had to do some of my own rigging to get it to dispense the water into a sink instead of using the holding tank. I will not buy this model again.
- deb h. on 2014-08-19
Answer:
I would assume so, depending upon the size. I purchased this unit in 2013 to use in a 40 ft R/V. It has two slide outs which makes it 16x40ft (approximately 640sq. ft.) The unit has held up well and does the job. I was shocked to see that within one weekend of storage in Louisiana, I had a kitchen sink filled to the brim. I now have the hose draining out incase the plug in the sink were to get put back in accidentally. I had NO idea there was that much humidity collecting in my R/V. It explains a lot of the musty odor starting to occur. I have and would highly recommend.
- Cynthia T. on 2014-08-13
Answer:
Actually we bought this for anew basement storage room that we made the mistake of sealing so tightly, with no ventilation, that the first summer of usage it developed terrible mold/mildew all over everything. What a mess to clean up...I can still smell the bleach! The storage room is 26 by 8 ft. We knew we had to do something so after a lot of research we chose this one. The very first night of use it filled the container with water. It's been humming along ever since. I know it's working because for about 2 months we were away and it was turned off. When we got back, there were definitely places where mold was starting to return. Plugged it back in, and no problems since. If you have a lot of humidity, the container does fill up fast, so we hooked up the hose to drain into a floor drain. It was a little tricky getting that set up....we found that we had to elevate the humidifier on top of an ice chest that we placed on the floor so that the water could move downward ento the drain. The hose is so stiff that you might have to use pliers to uncrimp any twists so try not to let it get crimped. Also, it seems that the hose fits into the base and is somewhat thicker than the base so the unit, with hose attached, ends up sitting unevenly. I ended up perching it on the edge of the ice chest.....but it works fine that way and now I no longer have to go down to monitor the water level. It works so well that we bought a timer, has to be a grounded appliance timer, and now have it running about 12 hours a day. No more mildew/mold problems! We a very pleased and would buy this product again. Plus we feel more safe with this model, knowing that it was never on the gov. recall list for fire hazards. Hope this helps.
- Nancee C. on 2014-08-12
Answer:
I would think it would be fine if the space is not too large. It holds one-half gallon of water before is shuts itself off. Check the specs on the size of the room this can handle. It works well for me for a 10" x 12" cabin in the woods that has a high ceiling.
- Mary Ruth W. on 2014-08-15
Answer:
That room might be too big. I like this one because it is smaller than all the other ones I've looked into that use a compressor.
- Joseph M. on 2014-08-12
Answer:
Yes, unit is dependable and effective. We use in our bonus room above a detached two car garage. No worries.

Question:
does it turn off automatically when humidity reaches desired set point?
- Anonymous on 2014-11-15
Answer:
No it does not. That's the big problem with it. It just runs non-stop until you turn it off. I've never heard of a dehumidifier that doesn't have a humidistat.
- John K. on 2014-11-16
Answer:
No, there is no humidity sensor, so if it is switched on it will run continuously until turned off.
- Thomas S. on 2014-11-15
Answer:
There is no humidity setting on this machine. It turns off when the reservoir is full.
- Robert J. on 2014-11-15
Answer:
It does not have any adjustment for that. It only has an on/off switch. However, I have been using it in my 21' Travel Trailer near Seattle, WA for over a year in conjunction with a wireless switch and wall-mounted humidity gauge and have found it very useful. I even found the sounds it makes while running soothing and a good sound mask against exterior noises.
- Gary M. on 2014-11-15
Answer:
No, just on or off. It does turn off when full. For the price it does a great job, usually a quart or two a day in a relative dry home.
- Randall P. on 2014-11-15
Answer:
No, it only has a simple on/off switch. Otherwise it only shuts off if the collection bucket is full (when using that as a drainage option). When set up with the drainage hose, the unit will not shut off on its own.
- Dale W. on 2014-11-15
Answer:
No it does not, but I just run mine on a timer for 3-4 hours per day.
- Marc N. on 2014-11-17
Answer:
There is no humidity setting. It shuts off when it is full. In my house lower level there never has been a day when it did not run continuously until it was full.
- Peter F. on 2014-11-16
Answer:
This unit turns off at the switch. No humidistat. We still love it for our trailer though!
- Todd T. on 2014-11-16
Answer:
There is no feature available that would allow for you to set the humidity level. It would only automatically shut off when the water it has collected has reached max capacity.
- Monique B. on 2014-11-18
Question:
would this product still work for large areas?
- Anonymous on 2015-01-02
Answer:
This product will still remove up to 25 pints of water per day even in a larger space. If being used in a larger space, it will not lower the relative humidity as much as in a smaller space though. This item is recommended for a room.
- Mark S. on 2015-01-05
Question:
can it be set up to shut off when it reaches a certain humidity level?
- Chris B. on 2015-11-21
Answer:
I don't remember. I no longer have it.
- Marvin G. on 2015-11-22
Answer:
No. Just on or off.
- Steve E. on 2015-11-22
Answer:
No it doesn't. I will say it works well. We use it in our RV during the winter months while we are in some very hogh humidity areas eg Oregon.
- margaret p. on 2015-11-22
Answer:
Yes, but you would have to do it by placing a line voltage humidistat in line with the hot side of the power cord.
- John B. on 2015-11-22
Answer:
No, there is not an automatic shut off. I have a separate temperature and humidity gauge and manually turn it off when it gets into the low 40s. Really like the the dehumidifier.
- Pamela I. on 2015-11-22
Answer:
Nope - it does not have any type of gauge
- Andrea B. on 2015-11-21
