Question:
I bought 3 - 14100Hs a little over 2 years ago and needed to punch a hole in the walls for the exhaust since I have casement and custom windows. The exhaust hose never fit well in the supplied attachement and easily falls out when moving the unit. Also in the winter, the hose is not tightly sealed and allows for cold air to come through the sides. Looking for advise? Thanks
- Arthur B. on 2015-03-16
Answer:
Hose not house
- Arthur B. on 2015-03-16
Answer:
Hello Arthur, Could you please provide me with a bit more information? Are you referring to the hose adapter not connecting to the hose properly? Those should be able to screw in, might there have been an issue with the threading or did they seem to thread correctly? In regards to the cold air issue, I assume you mean that cold air comes out through the sides when the heat setting is enabled? Where exactly is the cold air coming out of and is the lack of seal where the hose meets the actual unit? It might be best if you contact Air & Water at (800) 734-0405. That should be the easiest way to get all of your questions answered but let me know if you would like me to help answer any of your questions.
- Mark S. on 2015-03-16
Answer:
Hi Arthur, Still not quite sure where the cold air is coming out of exactly but you can try using some weather stripping to try to stop the cold air from coming out of parts of the hose. As far as screwing in the hose/adapter, I haven't really heard of issues with that piece before. All I can really recommend is to first screw in the window adapter then without screwing on to the window slider yet, screw it on to the unit. Once you have both ends then you can just snap on to the window slider.
- Mark S. on 2015-03-17
Question:
If the exhaust tube needs to be extended could a dryer vent hose be used to extend it?
- Pickle on 2015-04-08
Answer:
I think it might be acceptable to use if the fit is compatible. However, would not want to make it much longer as there may be sufficient air flow restriction to impact efficiency. This question could be answered best by an engineer from the manufacturer.
- Douglas T. on 2015-04-08
Answer:
Hello, We do not recommend using a different hose to extend, as it can cause more heat to enter the room, but it should be possible.
- Mark S. on 2015-04-08
Answer:
I assume that you could although we never did. This unit is great.
- DANA F. on 2015-04-08

- maurice f. on 2015-08-26
