Question:
Does it really cool the air enough? What temp can you bring it down to--68? 70?
- Janice M. on 2014-03-05
Answer:
It certainly does! The room we have it located in might be 200-400 sq ft and it works nicely. It is a little more than white noise but it sure does cool temps down quickly. I've had it as low as 68 myself, though it may go lower. Hope that helps!
- Stephen R. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
This is her husband Sean...the AC does what its expected to do...it will reduce the air temp at least 5 to 7 degrees...i have 2 in my shop, opposite corners because the front of my shop is glass. When sunset the heat can get unbearable during summer. With ACs going keeps things cool...the air output is great..least 18 feet from unit to my station.....bottom line it is worth tge money.....its easy to maintain if you keep filters clean....will not leak either....hope you get one....my first i got 3 years ago...my second last year.....take care.....ps...buy the warranty if available
- Julie N. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
Janice I have a large bedroom and it cools so well that the temp is 68-69 in 80 or .higher temp. .It cools fast and then turn it down to 70
- Liz H. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
Have not used it yet - for my summer home. Will try it out this summer
- David M. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
I live in New Mexico, hot . I use this model in my living space, outside temp over 105 inside temp, 70
- Robert B. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
This machine works for my home office. The lowest the temp can be set is 70 degrees. I set it at 71 or 72 and it is able to achieve this.
- Suzanne R. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
In my large space (600 sq ft.) it has no problem getting down to 72 very quickly. I am sure it could go lower....but I have never needed to lower it past 72.
- Daniel C. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
We bought this for a pop up camper. We used it this summer on a 90 degree day with high humidity. It took a few hours (maybe 2-3) but the temp was down to mid 60's and I had to shut it off that night as we were cold. It worked well beyond what I expected because as you can imagine a pop up camper is not a well enclosed location. This is the only time we used it this summer.
- Tammy M. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
If you are needing a portable unit, this is definitely the best one I have owned. It does not cool as well as a window unit, but it does do a great job circulating the cold air it produces since it has a much more powerfull blower than other ones. I also live in a place where it is ridiculously humid and I have never had to empty it. A BIG plus if you live in an area with sticky summers!
- melanie d. on 2014-03-07
Answer:
I have it unplugged for the winter but if I recall correctly, I believe it goes down to 65. I am using this in a 400 sq ft., uninsulated garage to provide shelter to 2 rescue cats that showed up in succession at my home a few years ago. Given that the garage is also drafty, i.e. cracks around the doors etc., the a/c unit does a very good job at reducing the humidity and the temperature in that area enough for them to stay in their overnight, even on the hottest of days we had last summer. It is the best unit I have found...
- Robbin H. on 2014-03-07
Answer:
The unit works really well. You need to turn it on early to get the room temperature down and keep it down. It will definitely keep the room at temperature you set. Very happy with unit.
- Ken F. on 2014-03-06
Answer:
We live downtown in a 3rd floor condo that is 1800 Sq feet, with 12 foot ceilings. I use it to cool just one 450 foot area and it will get all the way down to 65 on a day it could be 90+ outside. Now remember we are in Montana and we have almost zero humidity in the summer. Hope that helps. MAA
- Marty A. on 2014-03-06
Question:
How is the efficiency for an electric bill? Live in very high cost of electricity and looking for economy as well as cooling power! Thanks.
- Hi M. on 2014-05-19
Answer:
I am so glad we bought this. No regrets.
- Maja W. on 2014-05-24
Answer:
We also live in an area of expensive electricity: San Diego, Ca. Depends on the usage. I do not do well in the heat. Our bill is about $35 more. I could not honestly tell u how many hours that includes. Anything above 78 degrees, i turn it on in the bedroom. Sorry I can't give you any more info.

That's a tough one to answer. My power bill dropped dramatically as I no longer had to cool the rest of my house just to cool my bedroom. However, I can't really tell you if it draws more electricity than a microwave or toaster. I do recommend the unit though if the heat interferes more with your sleep rather than living through the day. I couldn't get restful sleep until I got this unit. I love still being able to use my goose down comforter in the summer.

Answer:
Not bad, it works out to about $3.00 a day to run them at peak times.

Question:
all my windows open out, will this exhaust vent fit this type of opening?
- Blair S. on 2014-07-07
Answer:
Hello, yes it will. look into a larger plastic kit for your size crank out. included with A/c was a double hung window venting kit
- Anthony G. on 2014-07-10
Answer:
.my window slides and after inserting the kit the window slides up against the kit edge to seal the window off. It would work probably if.yo.u left the window out or open, and then put plywood or something into the screen space to .block. the window would be my .only guess. 'good luck
- Liz H. on 2014-07-07
Answer:
My windows tilt out and I use this unit but you must do some alterations. I cut the adapter that usually goes into a sliding window to tightly fit in my window frame and then bought some clear plexiglass which I then used to block off the rest of the window opening.
- melanie d. on 2014-07-07
Answer:
All our windows are double hung, so I don't know the answer to your question.

Question:
We have had 2 DeLonghis that leaked and ruined our carpet and the wall, any problems with these needing a pan underneath?
- Vicki A. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
No, this unit works great. I pretty much run it 24/7 during the hot months and don't have any issues with condensation. Just have to make sure you clean the filters often.
- James M. on 2014-09-02
Answer:
In a year and a half we have had no issues at all. I use it to cool a server room and vent the hot air into the ceiling. It runs non stop at 74. I have not had any water to drain yet. For me it has been an excellent product.
- Alec S. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
I haven't been able to get it ti work, so I can't answer your question.
- John L. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
I have had no problems with leaks and haven't seen any signs of water. This type of unit doesn't have water running to it to have that issue.
- Sandy D. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
I own this unit and have had it on carpet for about a year and ran it for 8+ hours a day all summer and it has never leaked.
- Eric G. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
I use 2 of these units in a computer room. They have been running continuously for almost a year now. The light that shows when the water needs to be emptied has never come on and there has never been any leaks. These units are on tile not carpet and Montana and our computer room are both a dry climate. Randy Zickuhr
- Randy Z. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
So far no leaks with this one, we have it setting on the carpet and have never even had to drain the internal tank. I was truly surprised at the end of last years hot season I set it up on a short wooden stand and went to drain what ever water it had collected, and found it was empty. My wife and I call it the beast as it is a little noisy but it puts out plenty of cold air. As some said in the reviews the Temp readings are abut 5 degrees off. If you want to keep your house at say 69-70 you need to set it to 63-64 to get it to start cooling. We also have a 10 year old Soleus that is quieter, but doesn't put out anywhere near as cold of air. It keeps chugging along though so we use them both when it hits the 90's. We have high ceilings and about 2400 sq. ft of which we cool about half that and these do a pretty good job.
- Chuck Price on 2014-07-26
Answer:
Vicki, No I love mine. It has not leaked or give me any trouble. Works beautiful and I love it. It cools my whole down stairs. Love my purchase. Darlene

Answer:
Hi :) Ive had this unit for about a year. Its sitting on a hardwood floor and it hasn't leaked at all, nor has the "water full" light come on to indicate that I need to let the water out.
- RICHARD B. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
This portable has operated perfectly. We have not had any water leakage problems. The attachments to prevent water leakage works well. I shopped many machines before choosing this one.. I can honestly say, I would recommend this unit highly.....
- Stephen L. on 2014-07-26
Answer:
No problems. Own 2 of them: one is 5-years old, the other is 1-year old, never one leak.
- Fred L. on 2014-07-28
Answer:
Vicki I have had the New Air for more than a year and have used it through all 4 seasons. I have yet to even have to empty the overflow water drip pan. The evaporating feature works so well that I do not even think any water accumulates. Very happy with the unit thus far. Just have to clean the filters every now and then just like you would with any other HVAC unit.
- Bimal P. on 2014-07-28
Answer:
Have yet to have any problems , other then needing a blanket -.o
- Richard E B. on 2014-07-30
Answer:
Hi Vicki, As a matter of fact this does have a drip pan. But I have never had to use it! Not one drip has leaked. It seems as if the technology burns off the condensation through the vent hose. I use this thing every day all day for over 12 hours right now. Not one drip ever! I am shocked and awed by that, FYI. :-) p.s. This keep the 10x10 room ice cold on low cool setting @ 73. Hope this helps. Dave

Question:
How is the unit vented? Does it need outside access?
- Steven P. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
yes the window is open approximately 4 inches and it is vented outside with screen intact
- carol j. on 2014-08-06
Answer:
Yes it does need to be vented to the outside to remove the hot air.
- Ken F. on 2014-08-06
Answer:
Yes, the unit is vented outside through a window. It comes with a window adapter that will fit most any window and a long "dryer vent" type hose to go from the unit to the window. Very easy installation.
- Stephen H. on 2014-08-06
Answer:
Yes. It has an "accordian" type tube that attaches to a flat piece that sits below a sash window, i.e., the window is actually open about 3 inches and the piece fills the open space. If you have casement windows, I think there may be an alternative method for installation, but I'm not sure. Hope this helps.
- Lorraine D. on 2014-08-06
Answer:
It vents outside via a duct and a window insert. Excess water is trapped in a pan or can exit the unit via an included hose.
- Jeffrey D. on 2014-08-06
Answer:
It comes with an extendable blockage for a window. Has a duct hose for the hot air vent which does need to be vented outside somehow. Typically that window block works best, will work in both vertical and horizontal openings.
- Jason W. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
Yes. It's vented out a window and comes with the window kit. Simple to install. If you don't use the vent kit that's included you'll have a lot of warm air in the room and it'll feel like your machine isn't working. Having it vented to the outside really makes a huge difference.
- Mary B. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
Yes! You have to vent the unit using the hose provided. I used the adapter and placed it in my living room window. This allows the heat created by the unit (while it is cooling) to be focused away from the inside of the house.
- William W. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
Yes needs to be vented out a window it has it comes with a window vent kit
- William B. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
It is vented with a 4 inch vent hose from the unit to a window. The hose and window kit is provided with the AC.
- Robert H. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
Yes it needs to be vented outside (or I suppose into another closed off area of your home that will get all of the warm air). There's an exhaust hose with an adaptable window attachment. Works well in horizontal opening windows.
- Keith G. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
Yes. it needs outside access. There's a vent hose that attaches to a window insert. It's easy to set up but you definitely need a window.
- Carla B. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
As with all such Portable AC Units, the Hot Air & Moisture that it removes in the cooling process must be safely & completely Vented to the Outside, well away from the AC Unit. AC Units (such as this) come with Vent Kits : Large, Flexible Hoses (similar to Clothes Dryer Hoses) w/ some type of Nozzles/Brackets that make it possible to mount them into window openings ( may involve custom Partitions to be made w/ Gaskets & Trim work ) or cut holes to Vent outside.
- Kent M. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
yes. you need to hook up to windows kit which fits even a bigger window (not perfectly) as there are some openings... But the unit works good in our 500 sq ft master bedroom where we don't much AC from the central air....
- Suresh K. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
It needs to be vented outside. The unit is vented through a window. It comes with an exhaust hose that gets fitted in the window (either horizontal or vertical). I had to buy an extra extension piece that holds the exhaust hose because my window was a vertical slider and the one that came with the unit wasn't quite long enought.
- Marian W. on 2014-08-05
Answer:
It is vented out a window. Pretty easy to do.
- Susan K on 2014-08-05
Answer:
Yes, it gets vented through a window. The hose isn't very long, so you have to make sure that the hose will reach a window.
- Marian S. on 2014-08-07
Answer:
The unit comes with window venting equipment. Make sure that your window dimensions are the same as those stated on the unit; my window dimensions were smaller and some adjustment had to be made....(there ended up being an approximately 2" gap. The hardest part was figuring out how to close the gap....I used thick seating cushion that worked find. Hope this helps.
- Jo Ellyn J. on 2014-08-06
Question:
how long is the exhaust hose ?
- michael w. on 2015-05-24
Answer:
from the plastic part that attaches to the window piece to end that attaches to the AC is 62" and when collapsed it is 23 inches. Hope this helps. Ours has worked great, a little loud, but it works great and we have never had to drain any water out of it, it seems to all go out in the exhaust.
- Chuck Price on 2015-05-24
Answer:
I'd say around 6ft. We've got it set up next to a side window in our master bedroom. It does the job.
- Anthony S. on 2015-05-31
Answer:
Extended 5 feet
- Julie N. on 2015-05-24
Answer:
The exhaust hose is 5 feet long fully extended. Let us know if you have any other questions.
- Mark S. on 2015-05-26
Question:
Where can I obtain an extendable window kit?
- Joan G. on 2015-07-15
Answer:
When I bought this unit, one came with it. If you are merely looking to extend the hose that came with it, I bought more hose at Home Depot. Keep in mind that the hose gets really hot, and the longer it is, the more it heats the room on the way to the window.
- James A. on 2015-07-15
Answer:
I would try a Home Depot or Lowes...i simply drilled a hole through my plexiglass and installed a hose adapter
