I purchased this portable air conditioner due to my home has radiant hot water heat. I wasn't quite sure what to purchase, since i didn't want to mount it through the wall and have a draft in winter. So I started looking at Home Depot. Then i looked up reviews. This model does very well for a C note cheaper than Home Depot. So far very happy with my purchase, but we will see about the energy effecincy. Anyway, don't worry that it dosen't work well because i work overnights, and needed something to cool my bedroom as i slept. So Far YIPPIE!!!! It works very well.

The only negative with this unit is the extendable window kit is too short. I have a temporary fix but need to find a solution which is more secure. It cools great and was simple to set up.

(1) Air & Water's double packaging was excellent - reached me in perfect condition. (2) carbon/charcoal filter looks like a joke - I doubt whether it does anything. (3) weight is light compared to most portable air-conditioners and with wheels, and just right for me (I have back-problem) (4) No problem with fitting exhaust hose, good construction (I have casement windows, so had to use Pactiv foam sheets from Lowe's. cut to the size of the netting replacing it, and using double-sided duct tape). You have to wrap a soft foamy insulation on the exhaust pipe to increase efficiency. (5) cooling is excellent, but as a spot cooler, As a room cooler, it is not as efficient as a windows unit - I stayed within recommended room size, still lowered only a 2-3 degrees below outside. However, if you let it run 24 hours without cutout, that makes quite a difference.
(6) water accumulation has not bothered me yet (if I have to do it I shall have to use low pans, which is problematic).
On the whole, I am OK/satisfied with it.

The unit is small, but very powerful. It can cool a room in a very short period of time. Installation was a breeze. The design and features are very simple to use. It is not to complicated. If you want a portable, simple functioning A/C i would recommend it.

We have a loft room in our home that is located above our garage. The heat from the garage rises and makes the room hot. This AC unit quickly cooled the space without installing a window air conditioner. It is larger than I anticipated, a little noisy, and the hose attached to the window panel is not pretty, but it is WELL worth the negatives.

I don't have windows that fit normal A/C units so I had to find a portable one if I was to get any sleep. It cools my bedroom off very well. I bit noisy at times when it is regulating the temperature but it's better than feeling uncomfortable. I had to rig something up to vent the exhaust out the sliding door - but it works

I wish I had realized I could have accessed the manual before I purchased. The compact size was a major selling point for me as I didnot have much space to work with. I was totally taken aback upon reading the manual in preperation of setting it up. The exhauset air outlet is only 12 inches from the floor and the exhaust tube CANNOT be bent to fit into the window. To accommodate that, I would have had to put it on a table 24 inches tall. Other portable a/c's that I saw in stores, while wider, all had tubes shown being bent to be vented out the window. Next came the realization that the closest I can get the unit next to the wall is 24 inches because the exhaust hose cannot be cut shorter.. Because that would cut off access to the other side of the room, I could not use it as intended. So it's now on a milk crate in a window not intended, in a larger room. After installing, we had three 90 degree+ days where it took the edge off the heat, but that was all. A fan at the other end of the room helped. Another issue was the extendable window kit. Because of shutters on the window, I could not use the kit to center the exhause hose
to the middle of the window, and I had to adapt the kit.
Think twice before ordering. How many windows are 12 inches off the floor?
The good news is that the web site was easy to navigate and to place an order, and delivery was fast and on time. I know I have the option to return the product, but I feel it will be a nightmare to repack. It's now too difficult for me to install my window units, so maybe I'll have to hire someone to do it for me, and maybe sell this portable unit in the future. After our recent heat wave, all the other portable units have been sold out. I would order from this company again, but I surely will be looking at the product manual first.

While the manual states that the hose should not be bent more than a few degrees this is simply for optimal performance. We suggest installing any portable air conditioner by extending the vent hose to the window, even if the rise is more than the 14" mentioned in the product manual. We have an instructional installation video that may be helpful as a guide.

"Disappointd" below should slightly screw the grooves on the exhaust portion into the unit. Nothing comes apart when that's done. As for me, I have no complaints and love my cool bedroom. First bought the unit because I needed a new HVAC and was pretty sure my homeowners association would fire a letter off to me if I installed a window unit temporarily. After this experience, I'm thinking of using more than one unit in my next house and skipping the whole house air conditioning with its shutes and leaks altogether. So glad a friend recommended this and I found Air and Water on my own.

The air conditioner cools the room adequately. The customer service from this vendor is very good. The quality of the unit overall is poor. The vent hose will not stay connected either to the machine or the window vent outlet. Any little vibration or nudge and it falls apart. You can reattach it but the fit is such that it takes 2 people to put it together to keep the other end from coming disengaged. The details/overview were t clear in that the vent hose needs to be at the same height/level as the window you are venting it from. Our particular window is about 3.5-4 ft off the floor. Therefore we scrambled to find something to sit the unit on. We had nothing that size or height to support or sit the air conditioner on. I bought this portable unit based on what I thought was a much higher rating than it deserves. Yes, it cools, and it does an adequate job of cooling a 12x12 bedroom. I chose a portable unit to cool a front bedroom; I didn't want a window air conditioner sticking out of the window and resting on my window box. In hindsight I should have just purchased a compact window unit and saved a lot of money and the frustration of keeping this unit together.
