Description
The Eva-Dry EDV-500 Mini Dehumidifier is a dehumidifier that does not use power, but uses specialized engineered crystallized silica gel that is odorless, non-toxic and completely safe. Once the moisture is absorbed by the dehumidifier, it cannot leak or spill. These moisture meter crystals change from blue (when dry) to pink (when wet) to indicate when the unit needs to be renewed. The unit takes about 12-14 hours to completely renew.
The Eva-Dry EDV-500 mini dehumidifier helps protect clothes and valuables from the damaging effects of mold, mildew and moisture rot. Six to eight ounces of moisture is absorbed depending on the humidity levels and this process should take about four to eight weeks. The crystals should be active for ten years if used correctly.

I got this for a safe. I had saw rust build up on an item that I had and figured that I needed a dehumidifier. After getting the EDV-500 I have had NO PROBLEMS! Not only no rust, but no smells either. This really works and have already recommended it to a friend.!

I was using a different dehumidifying system in my closet which clearly got rid of the musty smell. I have been using this product for about a month, and it's difficult to say if it's as effective. The musty odor has not returned. Somehow, I'm still not sure if it was worth the expense.

I placed 5 of these in a very large gun safe as a backup to the hardwired dehumidifier rod located at the bottom of the safe. The safe is located in a very damp basement because it is too large and heavy to bring upstairs. Without the EDV-500 units, the guns and other collector items would be ruined. About once a month I have to recharge the EDV-500 units, but that is a small price to pay for the piece of mind and protection they provide.
