Dimplex DGWH4031 Electric Garage Heater With Mounting Bracket

Only took a few minutes to install this heater and it warmed my small shop quickly. I would prefer the temerature control to be on the front of the unit, but it is easy to reach and adjust.

Theordering and shipping were as advertised. On-time and complete. Installation was easy and products works as advertised. It has to work hard if I want to raise the temperature in my 460sf garage, but it can do it. I bought it to keep the moisture out of my garage air during the winter by keeping the garage at about 52 degrees. It does that very well even when the outside temp has been in the 20's. It should work better when I have the garage fully insulated and rocked.

This is the second Dimplex garage heater I have purchased, and have been overall pleased with both products. I had read other reviews on the noise level but did not have any problem with my first heater, the second heater was the complete opposite! It does vibrate and make excessive noise for around 5 minutes then the noice level drops to a level that would be expected. I am extremely pleased with the Air & Water company, when I purchased the heater, I was to be given a 12% promotional discount that did not show up. After a quick e-mail, the discount was credited to my credit card. Shipping was prompt and I got the package by the date stated.

I was amazed how fast this item was shipped. Good for me because it has been very cold in my shop so far this year; but not now, the unit works great and installation with a new power source only took about an hour. The only problem is now all family members want to be in MY shop which intrudes on My time in MY cave.

I've had the unit installed for about a week and so far it's working perfectly. The thermostat feature is terrific and enables a consistent temperature setting. The fan isn't too loud and it quickly heats my 600 square foot insulated double garage. I'm also glad I bought the unit with the hanger since it keeps it high up off the ground and throws the air better. Only downside is it runs on 240v and I had to pay 4x the unit's cost to have an electrician install a new circuit/outlet to power it (unfortunately I'm not skilled enough) - but that's the price you pay for a electric unit powerful enough to do the job right. Now that it's installed and working I'm kicking myself for not doing this 8 years ago when I first set up the workshop in the garage!

I expected more noise based on reviews. Was impressed at db level.Packs a lot of energy for the size.Definetly an asset to get temperatures over the hump to set stains,paints,etc.as well as keeping the work area comfortable.I guessed the 4000watt unit for my shop area and i think i'll be ok for cold weather in sothern New England.Presently only used for approx 3 hours.

Bought 2 of these for my shop that has individual rooms and I must say these worked perfect for them! Heats up within 20 minutes even when below freezing, shop rooms are 10x11x10

A&W did a fine job with price, ordering & delivery.....but the Dimplex heater DGWH4031 is much weaker than expected & the heater coil barely gets red...very disappointing...heat is modest, at best. I closed off one garage 15 X 25,which is fully insulated, & it takes approx 4 hours to get the temp from 50 to 60.

Works well, enjoy it. Quiet, heats two car garage, not industrial, but enough to work. Sales staff was GREAT, retuned the first and they shipped another immediately, even before I returned the original...

I am comparing this 4000 watt 220v heater to a 3000 watt 220v wall heater I already had. The air coming out of my wall heater is much hotter. I think the reason is that the wall heater's elements are enclosed in tubes that have numerous fins whereas the heating element of the Dimplex is a coil similar to the burner on an electric range. Consequently, the wall heater transfers most of its heat to the air and does not heat the heater cabinet like the Dimplex does. Bottom line is that the Dimplex uses more electricity and heats less.

We use this in our garage and it gives out plenty of heat after it warms up. It only takes about a minute to get warm, it is a small furnace, make sure your room is air tight, that way you get more heat!!!

Rec'd heater & ordering, delivery & service was very good. I had electric line installed.....put on heater & was disappointed in the weakness of the heat....I expected it would be faster & a stronger output. If I close off one side of the 2 car garage, I would be heating a 15 X 25 area. With outside temp in the 20's, my garage would go from 48 degrees to 55 degrees in approx 2 to 3 hours.....guess I expected more.

Bought this heater for a 2 car, 9 foot ceiling, partially insulated garage. I'm, very happy with the little unit. I turned it on when it was 40 degrees in the garage and 2 hours later it was 60 plus. Granted the heater is undersized for the space but it still performs well.

We converted our 2 car garage to a workout room. It's about 400 square feet and insulated and it keeps it very warm even in below zero temps.

I needed to put a heater in my garage as Florida is having some cold winters and my woodworking shop is pretty cold. This little heater puts out a lot of heat in a very small package. The electrician who installed my outlet was really impressed also. Now I can get my finishes to set up and my hands to work properly.

When I received the heater it was packaged well and there was no damage. I had my electrician son wire in a 20 amp 220 v circuit and I plugged it in and turned it on. The temperature was 44 degrees and after being on for 3 hours brought the temp up to 54 degrees. The space is a single car garage at 320 sq ft with no ceiling. The heater is only rated for 200 sq ft so it did ok considering the circumstances. I will get a larger unit next time. If I am working at the bench under the heater it is fine.

If you plan to heat an insulated garage that is a little over 500 sq. ft., this may not be the heater for you. It's just not strong enough. You will have to have it on all night @ the highest temperature and then your garage should be workable with a sweater. Overall it's a good working heater. It makes a little bit of noise, kind of like an old refrig.

Blower is unable to push air more than six inches past the front of the heater. Puts out LESS heat than an inexpensive ceramic heater drawing a tenth of the power. It it not worth the money or the cost to operate.

Powerful heater for a very good price. Heats up my workshop of 20X14 in less than an hour. Very happy with it.

I'm using this in a newly built room in my barn, about 120 sq ft, insulated with high ceilings. I have used the unit several times when the outside temp has been way below freezing. Within 5 min, the heater warms the room up to about 50 degrees, comfortable enough to work with a sweat shirt. I told my wife she may never see me again.

I have used my Duplex Electric Garage Heater in my 3 season porch. It has heated it very well. I find the thermostat awkward to use. I have not been able to control the temperature with the thermostat. I will be using it in my shop this winter and will find out how best to set the control.

Great little heater. Heats garage 13 x 22 x 8.5 with no problem. Easy to install. Requires 20 amp 250 volt receptacle comes with cord and plug already wired to heater. Great heater for the money!

My workshop is in an unheated 2-1/2 car garage, and can get quite cool even though there is heated space above it. On cold days here in the mountains of western NC, the workshop temperature will drop into the forties. The heater is mounted near the ceiling in the middle of the shop and can be swiveled towards wherever I am working. On medium power it will raise the temp into the low sixties in a short time. I am very pleased with it.

I liked the size, output, thermostat feature and mounting bracket...and fact that these heaters can be mounted up on the wall away from any fire hazards or low lying flammable liquid vapors which are present in many garages with and without cars. I installed a dedicated 240v circuit for the plug. This is for a single car garage being used as a small shop. The unit heats up the garage well...allowing me work in comfort, even on cold days.

Installed this in a 12x16 insulated workshop. It warms the space comfortably in 5-10 minutes, depending on the outdoor temperature. I installed a switch on the circuit so I don't have to re-set the temp setting every time I turn the unit on and off. I'm pleased with my purchase.

I purchased this heater for my 24 x 32 detached garage. The garage is well insulated. The heater does a good job of taking the chill off after a couple of hours of operation. I like the thermostat control, I can turn it on in the morning, early, then come back later to work in my shop area. I had been using a propane 35000 BTU torch-type heater along with some smaller 110v heaters for a couple of years. Safety was clearly an issue with this previous method. I would never leave the propane unattended, and it was loud. The Dimplex heater does a good job. My only objection is that it rattles sometimes during the heating cycles. Rattle seems to be the calrod element, cannot pinpoint. It stops rattling after a minute or so of heating. I have mounted the heater on the wall, above a window. I attached a small mirror to the wall in order to see the thermostat setting, which is also the on-off switch.

Best price I could find online. Good heater for the money. I recently completed building a small woodworking shop (300+ SF) and this heater does a great job at taking the chill out of the air. I can work without a coat comfortably after letting it run 30 minutes to an hour.

I'm running this heater in an attached, insulated, one car garage that's been converting into an art studio. The heater worked really well during the record cold temperatures we just had in Seattle. It heats the space up comfortably in about an hour and keeps it warm without running constantly. I don't find it to be particularly loud, just the sound of the fan without any rattling, and the fan doesn't run constantly once the space is warmed up. Air and Water's customer service is stellar, btw. I first bought a Q-Mark BRH562 model, not realizing there was a difference between the 240v 30amp plug and the 240 16amp plug. The people I spoke with were helpful and friendly. They sent me the new heater immediately, before I even returned the Q-Mark and they paid all the shipping, even though the mistake was mine. That's the way to create loyal customers! To sum it up - I'm very happy with the heater and glad I purchased it from Air and Water.

Garage heater worked fine was quieter than I expected after reading other reviews about noise .Takes the edge off those cold days while working in garage.

I purchased this heater to replace 2 1500 Watt oil filled heaters. The extra 1000 watts heats up the room much faster and does a good job of holding the temperature which solved the problems with the 2 slower and less efficient heaters. I found this heater easy to install. Well worth the money spent.

I have an 18x30 uninsulated garage, so I use the heater where I am working. It does the job with no problem. I have not tried to heat the whole garage as I feel that would be a waste of electricity. I am totally satisfied with the heater and with Air and Water.

Purchased 240v garage heater. I found the heater compact and easy to install. All parts were included and everything fit together perfectly. I ran a separate 240v circuit and outlet for the unit. I like it since it takes up no floor space in my garage and the airflow can directed to each side or down as needed. Also, having an adjustment thrmostat is a plus.

Does a great job. Heated my garage on a 30 degree day very quickly.

This unit was very easy to install right out of the box, I use it to heat a 20' x 20' garage (insulated), this unite heats it very well, does not take long to make a cold area warm enough to work. Wearing a sweatshirt, it makes it comfortable without making it hot, I would recommend this unit to anyone with a space the size of mine or smaller, does a great job for a good low price.

I have not installed it yet but my electrician tells me that I may need a bigger unit. When I install it, I will provide you with feedback. Installation was simple. The wall bracket is well designed. My garage is a little over 400 sq/ft. The heater raised the temp. From 29-degrees to 50-degrees in 15 minutes. The temperature control is on the back, at the bottom of the unit. The control works perfectly. The unit is installed near the ceiling. It is not easy to access the controls without a ladder. I will be installing a 20-amp switch, 48-inches above the floor, below the outlet.

A bit noisy, but otherwise an outstanding value! Easy to mount from garage rafter, I can aim it exactly where I want the warmth. Since I have an uninsulated, 600 sq. ft. garage, I won't try a heat the whole thing, but then my workshop area is only in about 1/3 of the garage. Value, efficiency, and on time delivery make this transaction a pleasure.

I must admit that I am sucker for "Shipping Included" in the price, but when that price is better than most and the web site is easy to navigate - what's not to like! The package arrived in three days instead of the estimated five (West coast to East coast). No damage what-so-ever. The heater is compact in size, which is what I wanted, and extremely well built. Everything you need is included. There are no screws or bolts for mounting the bracket (and shouldn't be) as nobody knows what you are mounting to, wood or steel studs or a block wall or a ceiling. I set mine on the counter as the base (bottom) stays cool. I didn't get any smell from this heater, even on the first startup. As far as noise goes, it's not bad. This unit is 55 decibel at 10 feet. My 2 year old refrigerator is 62 decibel at 10 feet and my 16 year old electric clothes dryer is 66 decibel at 10 feet. It sounds more like the frig than the dryer. I keep mine set on 4 out of 6, roughly. The only click stop is in the off position. I use this for heating my 12x60 (plus a tip out for 787 sq. ft.) trailer and it's perfect. When the snow stays on the ground, I'll turn on the propane heater. I haven't received the first electric bill since using this heater but neither have I winterized (storm windows and weather stripped) my trailer yet. It keeps the chill off set at 4 and bakes you out of the house when set at 6.

Purchased the DGWH4031 Electric Garage Heater to heat a 320 sf maintenance shop. I am very pleased with the performance. The unit maintains a constant temperature according to the thermostat setting.

It works pretty much as advertised. I have a 3 car garage and partitioned one bay with plastic tarps. It was 20+ degrees outside and about 40 degrees inside. After an hour it raised the temp. about 10 degrees. After about 2 hours it was comfortable with a sweatshirt. Of course the tarps allowed some heat to transfer to the rest of the garage and warmed it also. Total space is over 800 sq' and this unit raised the heat in the whole space so that you could be comfortable with a jacket on. I think next year I will add another unit and heat the whole garage.

I wanted a small unobtrusive heater that would raise the shop temperature from the chilly low 40's to a comfortable mid 60's. Ten minutes after the unit arrived, I was not disappointed. I have this in my workshop. It works like a champ! It does not cycle much at all (On for one minute out of 10 minutes), but keeps it plenty warm. The heated part of my shop is 390 sq ft, which is insulated. It is relatively quite also; still have a conversation while standing under it with no problem. Extremely easy to mount and operate!

I purchased this heater for my garage, my wife said that's small. But I'll tell ya it works really well. In a 300sq.ft. room we are HAPPY.I have told my family and friends, so far so good { thank-you }.

We use the product to receive heat in our garage. This is extremely helpful when working on a project, as the garage stays at a very comfortable temperature, to help working in the area in a very comfortable temperature.

Good heater for the price. A little weak for a 3 car garage, but even then it is workable. If turned on early, then it will allow work in the garage area. Needs a remote or you have to stand on a chair to use it, especially if you don't plan ahead and put in a variable switch.

Purchased unit in the fall of 2009. Easy to install. We used it to heat a two car garage with a high ceiling. Unit warmed the garage in 30 minutes on high with outside temps in the teens.

Heaters were used in 2 unheated rest rooms at the community pool. The unusually cold winter in 2008-9 caused pipes to freeze in these rooms. The heaters were set to maintain the room temperatures at 50 degrees. They worked very well.

We ordered this heater for my picky father, who is also a retired electrical engineer. We shopped around and hoped that we had picked a heater that he would approve of...and we did! It heats his new workshop beautifully and quickly.

This little heater will do the job. It might take some time but give it a couple of hours and it takes my garage to useable on the coldest day. Leave it on for for more than four hours and it gets warm enough to be without a coat.

Here in the central Utah mountains we have five month long, cold winters. My little 300 sf woodworking shop is at the end of the detached garage.It is pretty well insulated, but still gets down around 20 deg. This little 240v. heater gets it up close to 60 deg. in a couple of hours.At that point, I turn it down and let the thermostat run it, settling at about 65. The A&W website is excellent and will steer you to the right unit. Shipping was quick and the heater arrived in perfect condition. I would like to make one suggestion. Ship the unit without a plug installed.Make it easier to use with an existing 240 circuit. Thanks for a good product and great service. Jim

I use this unit in a basement workspace to take the edge off the cold when the furnace isn't running. The heater heats a large area (about 1000sqft)and raises the temp. 4 to 5 degrees quickly with no problem. the structure is pretty heavy duty and is easily adjustable. I wish it was a bit more quiet, but all forced air electric heaters are susceptible to a bit of vibration. Overall a nice unit for the price!

Did not want to hard wire heater. Had recepticle in place. Just fine. However, did not get ""Click"" to work when trying to adjust temperature. Packaging. I have never received anything so well protected in the mail. I do like the ease of mounting in different configurations. I will recommend it if it has the longevity that I believe it should. I was very very impressed with your website, and ease of ordering, plus the good pics which allowed me to see the 220v plug style.
