PROS- This cooler does what we expect it to. Cools a smaller room that doesn't have A/C with the rest of the building. Cooler works substantially better if you put ice in with the water. Very portable and fairly lightweight (without water). Remote control is also a nice feature, especially when the phone rings. CONS- Is a bit loud, but that's to be expected. Drain plug on the bottom is a pain if you need to drain water without taking the unit outdoors; there is no room to put either a pan or attach fittings and a hose.

To replace an ancient roof mounted cooler. I chose the portable because I'm too old to go up on the roof to do maintain. The weather is cool here now and I chose not to try it yet. It's very good looking. I live in the high desert and evaporation is a great way to cool here.
