It certainly does! The room we have it located in might be 200-400 sq ft and it works nicely. It is a little more than white noise but it sure does cool temps down quickly. I've had it as low as 68 myself, though it may go lower. Hope that helps!

This is her husband Sean...the AC does what its expected to do...it will reduce the air temp at least 5 to 7 degrees...i have 2 in my shop, opposite corners because the front of my shop is glass. When sunset the heat can get unbearable during summer. With ACs going keeps things cool...the air output is great..least 18 feet from unit to my station.....bottom line it is worth tge money.....its easy to maintain if you keep filters clean....will not leak either....hope you get one....my first i got 3 years ago...my second last year.....take care.....ps...buy the warranty if available

It does not cool as well as a window unit, but it does do a great job circulating the cold air it produces since it has a much more powerfull blower than other ones. I also live in a place where it is ridiculously humid and I have never had to empty it. A BIG plus if you live in an area with sticky summers!

I have it unplugged for the winter but if I recall correctly, I believe it goes down to 65. I am using this in a 400 sq ft., uninsulated garage to provide shelter to 2 rescue cats that showed up in succession at my home a few years ago.
Given that the garage is also drafty, i.e. cracks around the doors etc., the a/c unit does a very good job at reducing the humidity and the temperature in that area enough for them to stay in their overnight, even on the hottest of days we had last summer.
It is the best unit I have found...

We live downtown in a 3rd floor condo that is 1800 Sq feet, with 12 foot ceilings. I use it to cool just one 450 foot area and it will get all the way down to 65 on a day it could be 90+ outside. Now remember we are in Montana and we have almost zero humidity in the summer.

That's a tough one to answer. My power bill dropped dramatically as I no longer had to cool the rest of my house just to cool my bedroom. However, I can't really tell you if it draws more electricity than a microwave or toaster.
I do recommend the unit though if the heat interferes more with your sleep rather than living through the day. I couldn't get restful sleep until I got this unit. I love still being able to use my goose down comforter in the summer.

So far no leaks with this one, we have it setting on the carpet and have never even had to drain the internal tank. I was truly surprised at the end of last years hot season I set it up on a short wooden stand and went to drain what ever water it had collected, and found it was empty.
My wife and I call it the beast as it is a little noisy but it puts out plenty of cold air. As some said in the reviews the Temp readings are abut 5 degrees off. If you want to keep your house at say 69-70 you need to set it to 63-64 to get it to start cooling. We also have a 10 year old Soleus that is quieter, but doesn't put out anywhere near as cold of air. It keeps chugging along though so we use them both when it hits the 90's. We have high ceilings and about 2400 sq. ft of which we cool about half that and these do a pretty good job.

I have had the New Air for more than a year and have used it through all 4 seasons. I have yet to even have to empty the overflow water drip pan. The evaporating feature works so well that I do not even think any water accumulates. Very happy with the unit thus far. As a matter of fact this does have a drip pan. But I have never had to use it! Not one drip has leaked. It seems as if the technology burns off the condensation through the vent hose. Make sure that your window dimensions are the same as those stated on the unit; my window dimensions were smaller and some adjustment had to be made....(there ended up being an approximately 2" gap. The hardest part was figuring out how to close the gap....I used thick seating cushion that worked find.
