NewAir AC-12000E 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Environmentally-Friendly R-410A Refrigerant

Shipping was fast for coast-to-coast free ground delivery. It arrived in great condition via FedEx Ground. The box-in-a-box shipping wasn't necessary in this case, but it was well packaged nevertheless. It's quite a big box! I bought one of these 12,000 BTU units for our 290 sq ft master bedroom with a cathedral ceiling. It's quieter than some window-mounted A/C's, but not by much. I didn't expect it to be as quiet as a modern fridge. I even used it temporarily for a few hours in my 1000+ sq ft kitchen/dining/living room, and it was able to keep the indoor air bearable. It's quite a powerhouse, and seems to perform more than 20% better as compared to the New Air AC-10000E 10,000 btu unit. Assembly was pretty straightforward. All parts are made with cheap-feeling plastic, but they are actually pretty thick and tough. A screwdriver is needed to adjust the window adaptor, but otherwise assembly of everything else is tool-free. The window tube adaptor has a nice design to minimize the space taken up in the window so that it's less intrusive than the full 6" diameter that comes out the back of the unit. The A/C unit itself works well with a sliding window, but I still want to convert it to a dedicated wall vent so it won't take up any window space. The power cord is pretty generous at about 6', and the right-angle plug has a built-in circuit breaker. My wife approved the design and color, so that's a pretty big achievement considering her disapproval of other portable A/C designs we looked at.

I spent quite researching portable AC units before settling on this one. I live near the ocean in Southern California, so while it's cooler than other areas in the summer, sometimes it can get stifling hot in my upstairs home office. I needed something I could quickly install and remove when not needed, so I decided on this model based on ratings and pricing. This 12,000 BTU unit cools my 250 square foot office excellently and I may have even bought one that's a little too powerful because I think it could easily cool something larger. Set up wasn't too hard (I have sliding windows - ideal for this type of AC) and was able to get it up and running in less than 30 minutes. The controls are pretty easy to work. I know some people complain about noise, but it's an air conditioner. If you can deal with a central system, this isn't much different. I'm very pleased with this air conditioner and would recommended it to others.

Even though our upstairs level has it's own furnace and air conditioner, it was not able to cool the area comfortably when the temperature got into the 90's (we didn't know our AC was going out). So last summer I purchased the New Air AC because the reviews were excellent and the sale price was very reasonable. It arrived quickly. Installation took just a few minutes. I was impressed with what a solid unit it was and the really cold air it put out with its 2 fan speeds, temperature settings, a timer and sleep settings. Although I didn't need a remote control, it was certainly a great extra to have. With the help of a fan for circulation, it cooled the area. Worth every penny and more! Then came this Spring and Summer. St. Louis, MO was bombarded with 95+ degree temperatures continuously starting in May! And by June we were reaching the 100's. Installed my New Air AC and let the cooling begin. Just our luck the upstairs central air-conditioner died. As it looked liked the furnace was too old and needed replacing too, I needed more cooling fast before many precious "heat sensitive" things would be ruined. Purchased the 2nd unit and even paid the extra for 1 day shipping. With the help of the 2nd unit my things are safe and I'm able to use the upstairs while we wait on our central AC to be installed. I bought this for my tenant's apartment as the building doesn't have central air. They have been very satisfied with it , cools very well. It's a powerful air conditioner and easy to install.

The NewAir AC-12000E 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner is the second product I've purchased from Air and Water this summer. The air conditioner was for my stepson's studio apartment and it is working better than expected. It was a bit harder to install than anticipated but it works well and we are satisfied with the product. The order was easy to enter using the online system, it was well packaged and it arrived promptly and in good condition.

I purchased this New Air in March of this year. Living in the Northeast it has really been tested with all the heat we have had. It is energy efficient, up to all the new standards, easy to understand and use. It is receiving great reviews because it should. All a/c products make some noise but this one is lower than many out there. I have a different pac in the kitchen and it is very noisy, have a window a/c in the bedroom and it sounds like a motorcycle when the compressor goes on. My husband and I did not want to install new central a/c, much of the house is closed off now to save money on electric, family is grown up, etc. This is a good company to do business with. Happy shopping and I look forward to reading what others write.

Yeah, the construcion seemed adequate, the installation and use were easy, but so what? The unit I was shipped has extremely poor cooling performance and that is the first feature to look for in a AC unit. This AC-12000E unit did not cool as well as the 5000 BTU window unit I wanted to replace. That is worth repeating, this unit did not cool as well as a 5000 BTU window unit. On similar weather days, cooling the same room, the 5000 BTU window unit held 2 degree F greater temperature difference between outside and inside temperature than the AC-12000. I am very disappointed with this unit.

I bought this unit during the record heat wave and fires in CO as my house is not air conditioned, and I needed to at least cool my bedroom and minimize the smoke I was breathing at night. My bedroom is 320 square feet with 8 foot ceiling, and the 12,000 BTU unit cooled it down to 70 degrees and held it there. If I opened the dooor to the master bath and closet, it added another 200 square feet and although it took awhile, the unit would cool the whole 520 square feet down to 70-72 degrees while it was in the 90's outside. Very cool!! Perhaps a bit noisy, but I got used to it and soon slept through the night.

I had been wanting a portable air conditioner for the bedroom, and this is perfect, it cools the bedroom nicely while allowing me to raise the thermostat in the rest of the house at night thus conserving energy, what a wonderful product, easy to operate and install, the package arrived quickly, and was neatly packed, love this product!!

This portable AC is LOUD when the compressor is on. Be prepared to raise your volume up for TV or speakers. During the NYC heatwave of 90s outside, the AC was able to bring the room temperature back down to 80 to 85 degrees in a room of 140 sq ft. ( I have a open mini bar and 6 ft door way so that's why it can not bring the room any cooler) If you are looking for something that chills the room like a window unit, this is NOT the product you should be looking for. There has not been any water leakage or drainage thus far after 2 weeks of use. Hopefully, it will stay that way when compared to other portable AC. The venting tubes and the connector were poorly designed. Some hot air flows out even if you try your best to jiggle it to fit.

This was my fourth unit. Last year we had two portable ACs from a different manufacturer/vendor. Neither worked. Saw this one on-line from Air & Water and liked the reviews and comments. Sales reps were very helpful when I called. Was disappointed when told it was out of stock with a 2 week wait, but when I called the next day to place the order after discussing it with my husband, it was available! Ship time was fast, but the unit's compressor did not function properly. Customer service said they'd email a return label and once I returned the unit they'd ship a replacement. I had to make a second call to get the label and in the meantime a unit went on sale locally so I planned to buy it and just get a refund from Air & Water. Well, when I checked my e-mail, I found out they had already shipped the replacement, so I decided to wait. Glad I did. The replacement works perfectly. We are able to sleep quite comfortably these hot, humid Buffalo nights-I use the timer feature to sart the unit about an hour before we go up to bed. I guess the fourth one's the charm in this case! P.S. I only rated ease of use average because the remote doesn't function well unless you are fairly close to the unit and it is aimed directly at the sensor area, which I'm still not quite sure where it is.

This product is well manufactured. It does exactly what it claims to do. Not as noisy as a window unit. It was perfect for our bedroom where we like to sleep in cold temperatures. It allowed us to do this and keep the house air conditioner at 74, saving us a ton of money. Only advice: position unit where the air can flow and the air flow is not blocked in any way or confined.

Let me start by saying that this unit was my ?second? choice. My brother recommended another brand, but when I received two units that couldn?t ?talk? between the electric outlet and their power button, I got a refund and bought this unit and am extremely glad I did. Could it be better? Yes. It could have an automatic restart in case of a power outage. I think the only other ?improvement? that could be made is to have an oscillating fan that circulates from side to side instead of one that blows straight ahead. However, a fan placed in front serves the same purpose. I wanted to wait until we had some really hot weather and I had at least one month?s electric bill before I reviewed this unit so I could give as thorough and honest a review as I could. Well, we have had both and I?m ready. This seems to be a very economical unit to run. I live in a mobile home and they are notorious for lack of insulation. My electric bill covers mid-May to mid-June. The weather we?ve had so far is more appropriate for July and August instead of June. Nevertheless, my electric bill for May-June was only $50 higher than the base. This is fantastic! Even as hot as it has been, I don?t expect my electric bill to get over $200 and figure $175 for each the next two months ? if this weather holds on ? to be closer to the mark. How well does it work? I am very pleased. It hasn?t been below 90 since the end of May and these last two weeks of June have been a real test for this poor machine. The high temperature at my house has not been below 98 and has averaged 100 according to my records. On those days when the outside temperature reached 105+, this unit could only get the inside down to 85, but that was only for a few hours in the late afternoon-early evening; shortly after sundown, the temperature was brought down to a more comfortable 78 or below. In a few days I?ll be putting up insulated curtains which I am sure will help quite a bit. The surprising thing is that I?m asking it to cool 3 rooms that are each 16 x 16 plus a master bath. With strategically placed fans ? and the bathroom vent when I take a shower ? it gets the job done. I couldn?t be more pleased with the performance of this unit.

Relatively easy to install as I have large casement roll out window. I needed to be creative in sealing the vent in the window but it worked out and operating well. I highly recommend the product.

My New/Air 12,000 E arrived when it said it would and is working fine. After, the hard time I went through last year trying to get a portable AC that worked upon arrival its like a maricle that this one is fine, doesn't leak and seems to be working fine so far. Thanks to Amazon for me even getting my money back from the store that sold me the others. This store was most helpful and I appreciated it. My only complaint with this one is that the exhaust hose has no permanent plastic fasteners on the ends and is supposed to just twist in the A/C and the exhaust plastic window outlet. Our maintanence man twisted it in but, I was dubious that it would stay and the next night it popped out. I now have it duck taped both to the window exhaust outlet and the AC itself but, if thats the only prob I have with it I will be happy. I do think the manufacturer should make something for the hose ends that screws into both the AC and the window exhaust plastic piece. Other than that I am well pleased. Because of that I didn't give it the excellent rating but, a nice AC. Very compact. I marked energy efficent because, it had to be marked but, my utilities are included in my rent so I have no clue on that. Im sure its noted for that so it would be good.

Did a bit of research and found this unit had very good reviews. I ordered, it arrived quickly and was packaged well. It took me minutes to install. It cools quickly, not terribly noisy (I have a window unit that makes the house rumble), and so far the hose hasn't become too warm. It is nice and sleek looking and comes with a remote. I am considering purchasing at least one more if not two more units. I have an extremely wide window, had to purchase the extra window insert, and fyi there is no unsightly air conditioning unit showing on my first floor window! Absolutely love it. I can't comment yet on the evaporation or how it works in 100 degree weather, or for that matter whether or not it is energy efficient (hence the "good" rating"), but I have high hopes it will be perfect. I am a happy camper.

I bought this unit because it was rated the best for a powerful portable A/C w/12,000 BTU's & I love everything about it! It's sleek looking, efficient; I have been running it for two weeks and have yet to have to empty the water. (I did not know it had a air ionizer feature, so that was a plus, as I suffer from allergies.) I was hoping it would cool more than my bedroom with the door open but it's not the end of the world. With that said, I have jalousie windows, so our installation is probably not as tight and secure to make the unit operate at it's full potential. It is a bit noisy but after one night, it sounds like a humming sound. So, bottom line it's a keeper & almost considering buying another one!

Have it installed in the garage for the dog and it is vented through one of the garages air vents. I am not too mechanically inclined; so am never sure whether I have the temp. set at the temp. that I want; but after an interval, I can see by a wall thermometer that it is keeping the temp. that I have tried to set. So far, we have only had a couple of days over 100 degrees and the garage has been cooled to 78 degrees with no problems and the unit does not work constantly. I will also use the unit in my house when our main air conditioner is on the fritz. Haven't had to do that yet, but feel sure it will function as well as my very old one did before it went out.

My family lives in a second floor 750 sq/ft apartment. We located the New Air AC-12000E in our kitchen. The installation was easy with the supplied window kit, and we were up and running in 30 minutes. We primarily use the unit to cool the living room, and kitchen areas. It has worked flawlessly for the three weeks we have owned it. It's portable, if we need to move it into the bedroom we will just simply move it. The noise level is typical for an air conditioner, but when the unit get the room cooled to the desired temperature, only the fan continues to run which is less noisy. My family is very happy with the performance of our New Air AC -12000E as opposed to the installation and isolation issues of a large window mounted air conditioner.

Purchased to cool my second floor office... very easy to set-up... hasn't too hot yet, so will have to wait to see if it's energy efficient and cools sufficiently. The only negatives are it's little louder than I expected, and the exhaust tube should be insulated to prevent heat transfer.

The free ground shipping took less than a week to the Phoenix Metro area, which was excellent! Set-up was easy and cooling is sufficient for our master suite. Level of noise produced is slightly more than desireable but totally worth it in 100+ degree weather!

This is the second air conditioner that I've bought from Air-N-Water. Customer service is always excellent. This AC is great if you are looking for cold air! Purchased this air conditioner for a bonus room which was very hard to cool since the room was above a poorly insulated garage. The NewAir AC-12000E did the job. The room is now quite comfortable. The unit is doing a great job lowering the humidity and cools the room very quickly. It installed in minutes. Controls are easy to use and the programming feature and remote are convenient options. Air-n-Water customer service was very helpful and the unit was delivered very quickly. I would most definitely recommend this product and this company.

This air conditioner would be one of the greatest I had ever owned if it didn't have one major flaw! The piece that causes it to evaporate the water keeps breaking! We drain the unit all the way and then within minutes it says the tank is full again! At first it works great, then within a month of using the air conditioner it starts to break. It doesn't have a way to turn it to the fan once it thinks the tank is "full." Also it's very hard to drain. You have to take out a screw, then plug, then put on this plastic tube and lean the machine to drain it. It doesn't take too long, and if the evaporation part worked well it wouldn't be a problem, but once that piece is broken your screwed. I'm going to call the company monday and see if they will switch out this model with another. This is my second one of the same model and it broke the same way! We baby it and use the fan more than the AC part, i just wish I knew what was going wrong with it!

Great little compact AC unit. It replaced a much larger Delongi unit that failed after about 7 years. The temps in the computer room were 90+ and it cools it down to low70's.

The unit cools great. The downside is when the room reaches the desired temperature the fan goes on which is good. However, when the compressor kicks back on, it is very loud and wakes me up every time. The unit is self evaporating so you don't have to drain the unit every day like I did my old one. So far I have had it running every night for 2 weeks and have not had to drain it yet.

Living in an older home with little insulation and no central AC, it was a challenge to cool it sufficiently on those sweltering Middle Tennessee summer afternoons and evenings. We placed the unit in the kitchen, venting it through the west-facing window to the outdoors and pointing it toward the family room. Although it is a bit loud, in part due to the vibration of the older floorboards it sits on, we are quite willing to put up with the noise in exchange for being comfortable. The unit is simple to maintain, easy to set-up and the electric bill did not increase dramatically from its use. We consider this to have been a good buy and wise purchase.

This is a great unit, a bit louder than I'd like, though.

I expected more portability with the portable air conditioner, but it could only operate about 2 or 3 feet away from a window. The unit was somewhat louder than I expected, but cooled well. Also, the window adapter didn't fit my home's windows, and it would have needed a different configuration to work. After a day or so, I called Air-n-Water and received Return Authorization -- which the company handled with courtesy and in an efficient manner. Kudos to the company, and I do plan to buy a new window unit soon, and I will definitely go back to Air-n-Water to purchase!

My home is over 120 years old, so central air conditioning was out of the question, and my window unit just couldn't handle everything. This portable unit is easy to move to whichever room we are using and quickly cools the area. I just love it.

This product cools the bedroom very nicely, but is very noisy. It would be hard to sleep with this in a room.

Having had another portable A/C (Soleus), I knew what to expect when purchasing a portable A/C. I've had this product now for two weeks, and overall I'm pleased with it (with reservation). Here are some comments: Pros: 1. Very small unit, especially for the BTU's provided. I had a Soleus which was much larger 2. Cools adequately. Certainly not as good as a window A/C, but I have limitations on placing a window A/C in our building (historic). My room is approximately 400 sq ft, so within the stated cooling abilities of this unit. It takes a while for it to cool down, but once cooled, it maintains the temperature 3. Reasonably priced 4. Easy to set up. My previous Soleus was very challenging to keep the exhaust hose attached to the machine. This was much easier to attach. Cons: 1. The noise is TERRIBLE. The ad states under Special Features: "Quiet Operation: This powerful portable air conditioner offers efficient cooling but is super quiet. In fact, even at the highest setting, you'll barely be able to tell it's running at all!". Well, I can tell you, that this is not accurate. I expect any portable A/C to be louder than a window unit, but this unit is much louder than my previous Soleus. In fact so loud, that I have to use close caption on my TV to keep the noise level down (due to neighbors). For this reason alone, I might consider returning the unit. I can not address energy efficiency as have had the unit only a couple weeks. Overall, I would recommend this unit with reservations. If you don't mind the noise (and this unit is NOT in my bedroom, but in my living room), than purchase it and I think you will be pleased. Additional comments: Air and Water, Inc. was great to deal with. They had to do an extra check on my credit card, and were very patient with me whenever I called for an update. The unit arrivied within the time frames and without damage to the box. Thank you!

I live in Cheektowaga, NY and cannot believe how quickly the product arrived and in perfect condition. The unit was extremely easy to setup and was in use in less then 20 minutes. The unit cools an entire small raised ranch. I would purchase this unit again and would definately do so from Air & Water Inc.

We pulled it out of the box and plugged it in. It cools our bedroom and part of out living room, with a fan at the door way. It has been a wonderful thing to have.

I was a little nervous to order a product online. First I checked out the consumer guide and read up on comparison models before making a final decision. When it arrived,I was like a kid on Christmas morning as this was my first portable air conditioner and I had a skin condition that is aggravated by the severe warm weather this summer. It was packed very well and the directions were easy to read and soon it was assembled and ready to go-even for a girl!!! I love it!! I looked around and read reviews and decided to purchase this product because in general the reviews were favorable aside from complaints about how loud the unit is. I have a large apartment and wanted a portable unit that would be easy to move from room to room and powerful enough to cool my large living room which has ceilings that are somewhat high. The unit is very easy to move and to connect. However, it does not cool the rooms as I hoped. I don't typically enjoy air conditioning and I am usually chilly. The Philadelphia heat wave made me surrender and make this purchase. That being said, I am always cold... I'm very sensitive to AC, so if I feel like the unit isn't cooling a room, then it really is not bringing the temperature down. At first I connected it in my living room, and i thought that possibly the size of my livingroom was just a bit more than the unit could handle. However, when I moved it to my bedroom which is a small room with average height ceilings, I expected that it would work well and possibly might be too powerful for the size of the room. It was not. The unit blasts a powerful (and noisy) stream of cool air that if you are standing directly in line with the vent does feel chilly. But as soon as you move out of the stream of air blowing out the vent, you feel a noticeable increase in the temperature of the room in general. Even after leaving it on the entire day while I was at work and lowering the temperature setting to as low as it could go, my bedroom was only a little cool when I returned home after work. The unit works more like a large fan and dehumidifier than air conditioner that cools your room. I expected a much higher quality performance based on the BTU's and the high price (approximately $375). Also, the unit is somewhat loud. I don't think it would bother me if it was cooling as I expected it would but for it too be so loud and ineffective, I'm very disappointed. I could have paid less money for a more effective, lower BTU window unit and it would have cooled more effectively. The only perk about this unit is the portability.

The unit is very portable, is small enough to be stored in location that is convenient. The product works well, cools and runs smoothly. The Colorado weather this year has been humid, so this unit cools well, whereas an evaporative cooler does not work well in high humidity. I expected to have to empty the "catch-tank" for the water, but as yet we have not had to do that! GREAT!

The New Air AC-12000 does a very nice job cooling my large family room on those ninty degree high humidity days. It is quiet for it's size and does a good job of sending the humidity back outside. I highly recommend this unit.

The Model- we purchased to enhance our existing cooling in our home. The Air Conditioner works very well and is the most powerful portable we have had experience with.. If we need another conditioner or advice we will use "Air and Water" without reservation! We recieved our product here in Utah in just-two days, after ordering on the internet!

The product was shipped from air n water with a great delivery time. When it arrived it was in good condition and within 30 minutes it was out of the box setup and running. This is a great unit for northern WI were we have a handful of hot days.

Our previous portable air conditioner unit quit working during a very long hot spell in our location. Unfortunately, all local stores had sold out of every style of air conditioning units. Desperate, we contacted Air n Water who had our model in stock. Customer service was excellent, empathetic, and true to their word on delivery. The actual product is much smaller than our previous unit (a major plus for us!). However, the vent tubing is nearly twice the circumference which makes it rather cumbersome and unsightly. But honestly, as nicely as this unit works, I will not complain! Some of the reviews I read had complaints about the product noise level. This unit is comparable to our previous portable unit noise wise. It is actually quieter than our two window units. I have noticed the compressor does not kick in on the new unit as often as our previous unit?s did. This indicates to me less electrical draw and higher energy efficiency. My only complaint is the remote control. The materials and workmanship of the remote control are very poor quality. The remote rarely worked at first, now does not work at all. I will be contacting customer service to see about replacing the current remote. All in all, I would definitely recommend this unit for the cooling efficiency.

Great AC! Easy to install and great performance! It doesn't make my place super cold but I guess is because is almost 100 degrees here in Los Angeles. Also my single apartment has an open kitchen. The unit cools very well and easy to operate. It does have some noise but no more than a window unit. It was very easy to install.

we bought NewAir AC-12000E to cool down our bedroom (not very big). With door closed, it works fine. The room is cool and comfortable within minutes. We haven't tried to use it in bigger rooms.

My only fault to find with the 12000E Portable Air Conditioner is that it is rather difficult to install when all your windows are of the casement type. There is quite a bit of measuring and filling in of the triangular openings, both top and bottom in order to adapt the window exhaust strip. For someone with a wood working facility it is not insurmountable, since I was able to successfully install the unit and render it "bugproof". In total, I am very well satisfied with my purchase, and would recommend it highly to anyone.

I have this unit in the kitchen. We are cool and comfortable even while cooking. Others mentioned that it is not quiet. But my experience is that this unit is quieter than my other older (different) model portable A/C. Very pleased with the purchase, shipping, and ease of installation.

I purchased this product in the middle of a 100+ heat wave. this unit was able to cool an upstairs master bedroom done to 68 degrees during the middle of the day. The unit is extremely efficient and quite, I am extremely pleased with the unit and the Sales support by air-n-water. The staff is knowledgeable and very professional.

The only issue we had with setting up the a/c unit was the length of the hose and the height of the window from the floor. We ended up having to get a stand for the unit. But other than that it was easy to set up and easy to start getting the room cooled off. The timer is a nice feature. The unit is relatively quiet. We're happy with the purchase of this unit.

I never heard of a portable air conditioner before. We needed one for my dad's house which doesn't have central ac. It was delivered in 4 days and runs very well. It is somewhat noisy but it is like white noise that can cover up snoring. I highly recommend Air & Water Inc. and this product.

I bought this for my home office. Previously, the room would get too hot to work in. The NewAir portable AC cools the room even better than I had expected and was very easy for my husband to install - once he actually read the instructions. I wish it were a little quieter, but overall I am very happy with the results and I'm considering buying a second one for a different room.

I purchased this portable air conditioner during the hottest part of our summer. It arrived quickly and I have been able to keep cool. It was very easy to install altough I had to alter the adapter to my window because it was not long enough. It works very well to cool the living room and kitchen areas which is where I spend most of my evenings. I would recommend this product.

My house is a perfect fit for this product; I can close off my 400 sqft bedroom at night and I do not cool the entire house. I like to keep the room at 74 degrees. After a day or two of use I realized that the default setting is 75 degrees and one must reset the thermostat every time it is powered on. After making this discovery I was happy. One simply pushes one button after turning on the unit. Future models may opt to "hold" thermostat settings after powering down. It's fairly quite and even better, it's about 10% of the cost of a split unit. Next season I intend to build the unit into an alcove and route the exhaust out the wall. The NewAir AC12000E is better than expected. I use it to cool a 14x16 bedroom to keep from running the big unit at night. It's not to loud and shuts on and off and has a remote control for us lazy folks. The only downside is the exhaust doesn't fit the window completely air tight but a towel takes care of that! Air N Water is an excellent company, shipped right away, arrived in perfect condition and was packaged very securely. Would recommend the product and Air N Water! I'm what you call a happy customer!

I purchased this unit to help cool a basement that we recently renovated in a 1943 tudor home in Kansas City. Since it was an older home we currently have no ac vents in the lower level and the basement was becoming very stuffy in the 100 degree heat. I put the unit up against a wall that separates the finished basement and unfinished utility room. I placed the unit on a shelf about 3 feet off the ground in the utility room and cut a 10 inch by 5 inch square hole in the wall so the air could blow through the wall into the finished basement area next to our new bar. I then covered the whole square hole in the wall with a metal a/c vent cover. I can use the remote to turn the until off and on by pointing it at the vent while standing in the finished basement section by the bar. It works pretty slick. I even extended the vent hose of the AC unit by about 6 feet with a metal dryer hose using a little duck to tape to vent the exhaust out a basement window in the utility room. I know the manufacture did not recommend this, but I have had no issues with the unit overheating or shutting off. So to the person having a beer at our new finished basement bar they do not see the unit at all because it is hidden in the utility room behind the wall and venting out a window in the utility room. I am very happy with this solution because my alternative was putting in a secondary AC unit that would have been thousands of dollars.

I purchased this unit to use in conjunction with my central A/C unit which struggles with the heat we have been having. I placed it in the area where I sleep and it has really cooled things down. When the compressor kicks in, it is a bit noisier but not so much that it will keep you awake or wake you if you are asleep. I was amazed at how simple it was to set up and took me less than five minutes. Also, like the fact that it is on wheels and easy to move around when necessary. I would recommend this to someone looking for an inexpensive way to combat this extreme heat. Air & Water shipped this out quickly and it arrived before I expected. To my surprise whole installation took about half an hour. There were no missing parts. Clear instructions. It is a great help to be able to turn central A/C very high or to turn it off and use this product only for office with closed doors.Expected savings in electricity is about $ 200 per month in summer heat of Texas.

The NewAir AC-12000E 12,000 BTU is a great unit. Works right out the box. Given that is 12K BTU it's surprisingly small in size. The remote control is very intuitive and handy. Cooled my kitchen area of about 500 sq. feet almost in no time. I will rate this unit as A+++.

I purchased this to augment the central air for the upstairs as it gets considerably hotter up there during the hot summer months. I do not run it all of the time, maybe 2-3 days per week when the temps are in the 90s and above. It cools off the upstairs in about 1/2 an hour and will keep it that way as long as needed. It produces noise comparable to hotel window unit as it cycles on and off. I have yet to empty the condensation tank and it is pretty humid here in Northern VA. The unit will also be life saver when the central air goes out as it always takes several days here to get someone to come out and repair it. I cannot speak to long term reliability as I have only had it since May, but the unit has not given me a reason to doubt it.

Overall I'm very happy with the air conditioner...the only issue I had was that the brace for the exhaust did not fit my window.

I am completely delighted with our NewAir AC-12000E. This unit works well in a small office. We have it up on a filing cabinet and vented into the drop ceiling. The only negative is that it is very loud.

I purchased it as additional unit for my fish room in my garage. It is doing really good job, blows cool air. The only thing I can't set is collecting condensed water. I connected drainage pipe to collect water because I need distilled water for my fish. I never collected even single drop of water. For most of the people this feature is an advantage, not a drawback, though. Overall I like it and would highly recommend it to other people. Thank you, Air & Water.

This is a very nice portable unit. We set the unit up in the bedroom and it cooled our medium sized bedroom very quickly and definitely brought the temperature in the living area down to a manageable temperature. We set up a fan to help move the cool air from the bedroom out to living area. The unit is a bit loud, so having it in the living area might cause some annoyance. Sleeping with the unit on did take some getting used to but I wouldn't trade the noise for the heat & humidity! The ventilation piece didn't quite fit out vertical windows but only by about an inch; nothing a little cardboard couldn't fix.

I absolutely have loved my NewAir AC. It really works and is so easy to use. I just put it up for the year and cleaning it was so easy. Can't ask for more. I have told all of my friends about it and a few will probably get one. Thanks for everything. I love the unit. I call it my little robot.

The unit did the job of getting the room cool in a short amount of time, but when it would kick on, it sounded like a jet taking off. It took a few nights of getting used to before I could sleep through it.

There's not one piece of the product that has a brand name on it. Makes you wonder if it's all odd parts put together. It cools a small room quickly, but it's very noisy. The TV has to be on the loudest volume to be able to hear it. If it's on for several hours, the motor is so hot that the room starts to warm up again!

The NewAir AC12000E starts putting out Ice Cold air very rapidly. Using to cool my weight room addition and it does a very good job. I have the unit set up in a fixed location and was very easy to install. Operation is easy to set and maintains room temp setting. Overall quiet operation for my use. My air was out at home. You can roll this to what ever room you are in at the time. Very heavy though. So if you need to take it upstairs get someone to help you. I keep it stored in my closet when I am not using it. Just roll it out and plug it in.

We've been using the portable AC unit 24/7 until September started when the evenings began to get cooler. We're using it during the day. I had no problems setting up the vent, but I wish the hose was a little longer. It keeps the room temperature at 72 during the 80 - 90 degree days we've been having. I haven't had to empty the water at all. It doesn't make any more noise than a wall unit. We love it.

The air conditioner is doing a great job of cooling my 350 sq. ft. apartment. It's a little loud, which makes it hard to watch TV while it's on, but it's well worth it. I give it an A :)

We used the unit for about a week and then bought another one for downstairs. Still much cheaper than putting in central air and having one on each level of the house pays huge dividends. Easy to set up and we actually move it around from room to room with relative ease. It's important to remember to clean out the filter since it attracts dust/lint. Other than that it's easy to maintain and the noise level is just fine given the amount of cooling it does!

With this new air conditioner it has made our bedroom sleepable. We have central air in our home, but it did not keep our bedroom cool enough to sleep at night. Especially when the days were in the 90's. This has been a life saver and I highly recommend it to anyone. It is a little noisy, but you can't have everything. Great.

This unit has been running in my server room nonstop since I got it. It is running with an APC A/C unit which I have to empty the water bucket 2-3 times a day but haven't had to drain this unit at all and it's been running for weeks.

I live in Manhattan and really hate windows air conditioners, especially with the new regulations so I opted to buy my first portable air conditioner for my living room. This little portable is great it states that it will cool up to 350 square feet but my living room (375 square feet & high ceilings) is an open space so it includes the entry hall way and this unit has cooled both areas nicely. I did have to do quite a bit of maneuvering in order to get the window kit to fit my window but that is the only negative I can think of so far and maybe something the manufacturer can work on. Once my bedroom window air conditioners dies I will definetly buy one of these units with more BTUs. One more plus ...delivery was as on time and the unit was very well packaged so there was no damage in transit. Great buy for the dollar..

The air conditioner works okay... nothing spectacular, but cools down the room after a couple of hours. It is terribly loud, however. My friend had a Sharp unit that was much more quiet, but less powerful. I think I would trade peace and quiet for a less powerful unit.

We use it to cool our bed room in the evening, which it does well. I like the feature that it evaporates the condensate. No need to empty a bucket. The window panels were not long enough, so I had to mount the outlet panel on a board. Our slider windows are 44" high. The unit looks very well made from the outside.

Purchased this unit for a 360 sq. ft. room with cathedral ceiling. Room is open to kitchen and 2 upstairs bedrooms and does more than an adequate job. A little on the noisy side but what portable AC unit isn't. Especially like the fact that you can roll it to other rooms or for storage. I would recommend this unit to friends or relatives as a matter of fact my son bought pretty much the same unit.

In Germany not many homes even for Americans' who are used to it have A/C due to environmental concerns. Stand alone units are primarily your only choice. This unit took my home of 1200sq from a humid 85 to a nice cool 73. I only got this unit because we have a newborn and didnt want him to suffer in the heat, and the day the A/C arrived he slept without waking for the first time in weeks, this is the best floor model I have used, and have gone through 4 previous other brands. Not too noisy and for once an A/C unit that the heat hose coming out of the back did not outweigh the cooling coming from the front.

We purchased the air conditioner for an area upstairs in our home & after living in this house for about 50 years or so, I wish we would have made a purchase sooner. It makes a BIG DIFFERENCE!

I use this product to cool my 14' x 14' living room. This summer had some unbearably hot days and this unit did a nice job keeping the room cool. My only complaint is that the unit is quite loud; so much so that it is difficult to carry a conversation with the unit running.

I use this AC as addition to another portable A/C in my fish room located in my garage. With temperature outside that reaches 100 degrees one 10,000 BTU unit was not enough. This Air&Water A/C is excellent, it blows cold air, is easy to setup and use. What personally I dislike, it evaporates water automatically even though I connected draining pipe to collect condensed water (I need distilled water with my fish). Another minor downside is the rollers it stands on can't be blocked. I set it on a desk and am afraid it rolls down, so I needed to block rollers in a custom way. Overall the A/C worth the money.

This is, overall, a very good product. The unit looks good and does a good job cooling my studio. The only thing that really needs improvement is the flimsy plastic thing that fits into the window and is the outlet for the hose. If you can get it to stay in the window, and not have the hose fall out of it, you're in business! It's a shame satisfaction with such a good unit is lessened because of a non-integral component...a component that could easily be replaced with one that works.

It works very well, it is perfect for my needs. You might not want it in your livingroom because of the noise, otherwise it is a very good product.

I read other reviews before I purchased the unit even though people talked it did not perform to their expectations. I followed the directions and placed fans to help the circulation, moving the air from livingroom,kitchen, dining room and back into livingroom. It works very well for me. The remote was missing from the original shipment but the supplier promptly sent it to me. Determine your needs and area set up, then give it a try.

I've used it once on a hot day while in my travel trailer. It did a great job.

I use my NewAir AC in my 2 car garage for when we do seafood boils. My garage is 22' x 22' and it cools it off very good.

The air conditioner works very well, actually extremely well! First portable for our house, so it was an adventure for us. We have a 1600 sq ft home not new, but in good condition. It keeps it very comfortable, not cold. We have placed aditional fans to help move the cool air around on very hot days above 90 degrees. The air conditioner handles about 1/2 the house very well. No water problem. Hook up was simple for me, an average man. It was a bargin, and I should have bought two. Will get one next year if they have another sale. My wife says the hum bothers her ears somewhat, but on those hot days, she likes it regardless of a little hum. Thank You! You have a great product.

The unit cools one small room reasonably well. My wife finds it a bit on the noisy side. I found the exhaust duct a bit difficult. I'm glad to have it and would recommend it for cooling a room where a portable is required.

This portable AC unit is powerful and keeps my upstairs living room very cool. I used to use a 10,000 btu portable plus a 5,000 btu window unit and it was not enough at all. I was planning on using this new one along with my old 10,000 btu unit, but it kept making the power go out! So I have been using only my new portable one from Air-N-Water and it works like a dream!!!!!!!

I decided to purchase this after seeing a friend's AC-12000 in action. This unit works pretty well, but I have to say it doesn't seem as high-quality as my friend's version, which is maybe 2-3 years old. The new one doesn't have a means of expelling water vapor through the exhaust hose like the older one did. Also the carry handle on the old version was substantial and you could actually lift the unit using one hand, which came in handy when carrying it up and down stairs. The new unit's handles are little more than finger-shaped grooves that are only good for maneuvering the thing on its casters. One improvement is that the window fitting where the exhaust hose goes is smaller and fits better in my narrow (20") casement window opening. We have a fairly large upstairs bedroom that was converted from an attic, and it's got a couple of skylights, so I knew a 12000 BTU unit wouldn't be able to maintain the room at a low temperature on hot days. But on a sunny 90 degree day it will keep the room temp in the low 80s, which is a big improvement. So far no problems with moisture buildup or water leakage.

Old window AC quit and the apartment was sweltering! Could not sit on the couch without feeling I was in an oven! The unit was delivered quickly by Fed Ex. - well packaged and simple to set up - put in thin filter in back of unit which slides up - connect hose to the window kit and plug in unit and turn on. Unit louder than I thought it would be but does a good job of making the living room comfortable - removes the humidity in the air while cooling. I would say it brings down the temp 5 to 10 degrees - may not sound like a lot but also removes the humidity and that makes a big difference. If you are looking for a unit to "freeze" a large room then get more BTUs than this one but I have to say it does the job for my open floor plan living/kitchen combo. If the living room was more closed off it would work much better - but it's not the fault of the machine, I could have gotten a higher BTU model. Also, I have moved the unit (easy to move from room to room) to my much smaller bedroom and it "freezes" that room so I actually have to turn the unit down or to fan only - sorry I don't have the dimensions of the room(s) but the bedroom is average size - you can fit a "full" bedroom set into - while the living room/kitchen combo (no doors) is maybe double that. All in all a good workable unit for a fair price - and it kind of reminds me of droid from a Star Wars film like R2-D2 - except this guy ended up on the cutting room floor....Hope this helps.

I bought this unit for the play room over my garage, which is poorly ventilated and poorly insulated. The unit keeps this space livable during extreme heat like we had this summer (100+ degrees) but it's not equivalent to regular AC. Also, the window exhaust kit is rather cheap. The design leaves gaps of wide open space and the plastic holding the window open is not insulated. I filled the gaps as much as I could with weather stripping. Only other complaint is the compressor makes a fair amount of noise when running. On the plus side, my play room would not be bearable without this unit. I leave it running all the time and was expecting to take a hit on my electric bill, but there was none...so it must be pretty efficient.

I love my new AC unit. It was very easy to install. I live in an RV full time. This unit cools very effectively does not produce very much water and I was able to install it while my husband was at work. Beats the unsightly look of a window unit, you can't really notice it from the out side unless you know its there. I also love the stylish look of the unit it self. I would strongly recommend purchasing this unit..

All is good I like how you can take to other rooms, in the house. The only thing I did not like is no screen or cover over the out side vent in window, from getting small bugs in when not in use. Other wise real good.

Our NewAir AC-12000E has cooled the space very nicely, we close doors in the hall to the bedrooms. We have had very high humidity this summer and after seven days of running I still have not had to empty the reservoir. It is loud.

I did extensive on line search and comparison of various portable A/C units and recognized the value and performance of the NewAir when compared to other models high end and more expensive modes. My wife and I are extremely pleased with ease of set-up, operation, and performance of the NewAir. I maintains a comfort zone throughout the entire cozy 800 square foot living space. It's extremely quiet and does not interfere with our enjoyment of music, and Mary's voice and piano recitals.

The unit has been working fine since I received it a few weeks ago. I like the thermostat feature that shuts off the compressor when the set temperature is reached, continuing to blow cool but non refrigerated air only. It's a little too noisy but this is to be expected from a compressor.

To say the least, a little skeptical at first. It arrived really well packed. Everything in perfect condition and really easy to install. The window bracket is really versatile and made strong. I have this unit in my home office and it looks great! It cools the room down quickly, even with the door open. It's at a very reasonable price and you get outstanding performance to boot.

Wow, this portable air conditioner is great! Used the portable unit in downstairs living room and cooled area efficiently. I was worried about the cathedral ceiling but this unit did a super job.

I bought this for a 215 sq. ft. room so it is oversized. I figured if I move I may have a larger room and may need it. It works very well but the compressor is a little noisy; I don't think any noisier then a window unit. I like it and would buy it again.

This is an old house with a large master suite upstairs and huge double pane windows that slide side to side. The insert panel had to be slightly modified but I had no problem...and, I am mechanically challenged. I run it at night and turn off the central air, which has already saved money on my utility bill. The heat index here has been above 100 for a week. The drain only needs to be emptied every four or five days. The only down side is the noise..a bit louder than I had hoped. All in all, an excellent unit.

I'll have to say that I'm very satisfied with the way the NewAir 12000 functions. I have a room about 180 sq.ft. that cools down very quickly when I need it to. I also have vaulted ceilings, so that probably adds about another 30sq.ft. that the AC has to cool down and it does so flawlessly. The noise level is ok (for my ears at least) and setup is easy to understand and fairly quick. Remember that this AC does not have that evaporation tech. so you'll have to drain it yourself; I've had the AC for about two weeks now and I still haven't seen the indicator light telling me the tank is full. Anyhow, economical says it best. $400 is not too much to spend when we're talking about the place where we would like to be the most comfortable... the bedroom!

This air conditioner worked fine right out of the box. It is fairly quiet too.

Our central a/c died due to a bad compressor and we were feeling rather hopeless due to the $1500.00 est repair and hot due to 90 degrees and humidity. Then we found this machine online from Air & Water. Found some reviews that gave it top ratings and the price was lower than any others we could find. It came within a few days and we were able to have it hooked up and running in an hour. It is able to keep our three bedroom ranch style home cool with the assist of a couple of fans to aid distribution of cool air. That was good enough but then we found it had an ionizer that really made a difference and had the ability to be a heater in winter. If you are thinking it's time to replace a window a/c or just get something to keep cool this is the way to go, especially for the price.

I work from home and have 8 computers in my 12x12 office. So, it was 80F in my office!! After installing this thing I cycle it on/off during the day and I get instant relief. SUPER!!! I've had this about 5 weeks and no complaints so far!

Overall - this is a really cool machine...a pun intended. When I first turned it on my daughter came up stairs and said, "Wow, It's actually cold up here!" The loft has a small air vent for air conditioning and it didn't get much air up there at all. As we all know, heat rises....it got so hot up there we couldn't take it anymore...thus the purchase. I like the variety of settings and the results. It performs the way I had hoped. I look forward to it working for many years. It didn't start off perfectly. The directions state a generic, "Place window kit into window." Duh? But how? Pull it apart? Put the screw back in? How do you seal up the window? How do you get the window to stay closed? Frustrating and left to guess. And I still don't like that I can't lock the window, there is a good 1/4inch opening that allows the hot air and bugs to come in. So the window piece is lopsided and not secure -- but the cool air is flowing and I'm happy about that.

It works great to cut the humidity. It cools down an attic room, not as well as a window unit, but enough to make it comfortable.

My wife & I were tired of window ac units throughout the 1st floor of our farm house. We read the reviews on this product & decided to take a chance on one. We are very happy with it. This has been the hottest summer in memory for the 2 of us & the AC-12000E has kept out entire 1st floor cool & comfortable. We both wish the unit was quieter, though.

We bought this unit for use in our upstairs bedroom. While it is easy to move and cools the room OK it is very noisy for bedroom use. Even when just on fan it is loud and bothers us when we are sleeping. When we first tried this unit in our living room it was so loud we could not hear the TV without turning it up so loud the neighbors could hear it!!

Our new air conditioner has really helped make our living space comfortable during these hot, humid, summer days. It decreases the temperature of the space by several degrees (I think it would be even more effective if I had doors to seal off our living room from the rest of the downstairs.) However, it is quite loud making conversation difficult, and the directions for attaching the exhaust hose are inadequate. The hose really needs to be turned into place, not just inserted. Also, the sliding attachment for my window vent was too short, so I have had to fashion an extender for the short piece from a piece of wood and a piece of cardboard. If I can find someone to saw the included plastic extender piece for me, I'll be able to use the plastic extender provided.

Cools all my bedroom and the second room if I leave the door open, supports my central air.

I purchased this AC so that during the day we could use it in the living room (13x20) and than use it in my baby's room at night. The AC does an OK job in the living room. We use a fan to help circulate the air. It does a much better job in my baby's room (9x12). It's very easy to move it from room to room, especially when using the window kit the windows are the same size. It rolls very easy from room to room. It hardly ever needs to be drained- the window kit does a great job of getting the moisture out of the AC- even during this very humid summer.

I have an old 1? story farmhouse with slanted ceilings on the second floor and no insulation, so even though I have central air, the upstairs remains about 10 degrees hotter than downstairs. This little unit was a breeze to set up and cools my bedroom (11 x 15) down to match the first floor in a half hour. Over a few hours, it will also cool the rest of my upstairs (an additional 15 x 22). Would definitely recommend for those with similar issues.

I have an upper studio which does not get a lot of air from the a/c unit (old house not a lot of insulation). To alleviate this so they had some control of the room temperature and decided on the 12000. It's about 600 sq ft and this works perfectly. I was hoping I could use the continuous drain but there is no easy access for the set up. Yet, I'm not turned off by it and felt the set up was a breeze and self explanatory! I was happy to know that if the windows wanted to be opened it was an easy thing to do and not a clunky window unit staring at my neighbors. I am very pleased with the unit and if anyone complains about the noise they need a reality check. It is not noisy for what its purpose is supposed to be! I've already recommended this to my sister. It does what it's supposed to do. It's pretty loud, but I'd rather deal with loud volume than excessive heat. The unit seems to be really good about handling condensation, as it hasn't really collected more than a few drops in the great amount of time I've been using it. Tried it in a few different rooms of varying sizes and have not been able to get room temp below 74 degrees. I don't find that to be a big issue because it's much cooler than 85 or 90.

We needed this unit because of our 3rd floor loft, under roof. VERY hot in summer: full south exposure. Our central AC unit- excellent to keep the 2nd floor at the right Temperature but with 2 small vents on this floor- wasn't good for the 3rd floor. Many windows up there too small for a good window AC or we would have to put 4 of them! So, we wanted a big machine doing the job. Average temperature in the loft before our purchase: 90 to 95 F. Now with the AC-12000E, we keep it easily at 75, 76 which is fine with us. My husband was able to carry it 3rd floor with no help and to assemble everything in 1/2 hour with no trouble and I must say, he's not the-handy-kind-of-guy! Noise? Well like every other AC unit with 12000 BTU. Good choice for us and yes, we would recommend other people and friend to buy such a unit.

Units are fine. Probably could do with 1 or 2 more to cope with the size that I'm trying to cool. Will look into purchasing them at a later date. Only complaint/issue is that one of the units came without the HEPA filter. I wrote and complained and then filled in the subsequent paperwork that was sent. To date, still haven't received the filter. Not happy running this unit minus the filter. Thanks.

I was looking for additional portable AC unit to supplement my central AC system. My bedroom located on a second floor under the roof. After very hot summer day it makes impossible to sleep there and Central AC cannot low the room temperature even if I put it on very low settings. During such days and nights I use my portable AC system, it cools temperature from 85F to 75F in an hour or so. Also it was light weighted enough for a woman to carry it on a second floor (resting on each stair of cause) For the past month I used it 8-10 days for 4-5 hours and my energy bill did have any unexpected surplus, contrary to that it was quite low for this time of year.

The portable airconditioner (12,000 BTU!) is not able to cool down a room of 300 square feet. With a starting temperature of 85 deg F, it falls to 83 deg F.

The area in which I have the AC positioned keeps it comfortable, not cold, but comfortable. I assume this would be the case before I purchased the AC unit. A bigger unit would have been much better, however, financially this was not possible. The area I am cooling is 3 small rooms and there is a hallway between them and it does keep it comfortable. I do use the unit in another area sometimes and it does cool it quite well. All in all am happy with the purchase. Thank you.

We are smokers and don't smoke in the house. So, we setup our garage with tv and chairs, but in the summer it gets into the 100's. Now we can sit in the garage with lots of cool air. It drops the temp 20/25%. We love it!!

The portable AC is working great! It cools our living room and foyer area. Our whole apartment is about 700 Square Feet, but we closed off the hallway and the living room stays nice and cool. The AC is a bit loud, but I talk loud anyway, so now my boyfriend can't yell at me! LOL It's worth the price and it's keeping us sane in this heat.

This is my first NewAir brand portable air conditioner. It is, by far, a more powerful unit than my previous unit that I had many years ago. Nice design, it's a bit smaller than I expected. The controls are easily accessed and the remote makes things even more convenient. The unit has a nice quality feel to it, it doesn't have that "tin can" or "plastic toy" feel. Set up was very easy. It was actually longer to unpack it and to choose a location for it, than it was to install it! It's not as powerful as a window unit of the same rating, and I didn't expect it to be. However, it is more powerful than I expected for a portable unit. The only down side that I have, is how loud it is. Noise probably goes hand in hand with its power but, the fan noise added to the compressor cycling on and off is bit loud. Not gas lawnmower loud but, it'll force you to turn up your TV or if you're a light sleeper, keep you up. Even considering its noise level, I am still very happy with my AC-12000E and would recommend it.

The product is very noisy, and can't cool an 14 x 16 room to 78....

I ordered this unit just in time. We have had nothing but 85-90 degree weather for the last 2-3 weeks. New air ac ran 12hrs a day for at least 3-4 days a week and helped maintain a temp of 75+/- in the house. It can not be set to cool at a certain temp but rather cools according to the surrounding air temp. It does a good job of keeping the air reasonably cool. Super easy to set up and move around. The evaporator feature seems to work well but I do empty it out from time to time. Less than a cup of water comes out. I would highly recommend this unit. The only downside is the instruction booklet which is rather limited on information regarding parts xmlnsnt or service centers.

The unit arrived in good shape. Plugged it in and it was loud and vibrating severely. The compressor failed after a week. Called customer service and they said "No Problem" it would be replaced. I received the return Fed-Ex tag and once the new unit arrived, I returned the defective one. The new unit purrs like a kitten. Problems will arise, it just depends on how you handle them. We continue to be completely satisfied with the unit. This summer in Raleigh has been unusually hot with temps exceeding 95 degrees many days and even this week with temps forcast to hit 100+ a couple of days. The unit enables us to get a cool relaxed sleep at night and we feel much better when we arise in the am. The unit puts out a large volume of cool air on the low fan setting and quickly cools our sleeping area. It seemed loud to us when we first got it but we don't even think about the noise level anymore. (I'd rather be cool at night rather than worrying about a little noise) The unit was reasonably priced - it shipped free to us about seven weeks ago and we are happy with it. It was easy to set up and it's still doing the job. I would certainly recommend the 12000E to anyone who is in the market for a portable AC!

I have used this product a couple of times, but it is easy to use and effectively cools the master bedroom to allow for comfortable sleeping.

This portable is being used to cool our back bedroom. It is a battle to cool our apartment, as we live on the top floor. The unit works well. The controls are easy to understand, the unit does what it is supposed to do. It is a little louder than I anticipated, but probably not so much more than a standard window AC. I would recommend purchase.

I'm amazed at this compact marvel. "Just plug in and go" seemed too good to be true. A few simple steps to hook up the vent hose and I was done. No more sweltering in the afternoon heat.

We ordered the NewAir-12000E and are very please with its performance. We have it in our lanai and it has been a very hot summer! Not just here, we know, it has been everywhere! Our NewAir AC keeps our lanai very comfortable, usually in the low to mid-80's. Our only complaint is that it is quite loud and sometimes hard to hear over the blower. BUT, if you want cooler air, that's what you need is a good blower!

This unit cools as described, once it gets cranked up. The installation is probably easy on standard windows, but I was installing it in an older sash window. The window was more narrow than the smallest size permitted by the slide, so I had to cut the end off with a hacksaw. Once I had the proper width, the hose adapter was then resting on the window sash, causing stress on the upper part, causing the whole assembly to pop out of the window. I had to build a support for the hose adapter to relieve the stress, then secure the whole thing in place with duct tape. Hardly a 5-minute set-up, more like an hour with tools and a good bit of improvisation.

NewAir AC-12000E was the perfect AC unit for me. An attic next to my bedroom was 110 degrees F. I purchased an exhaust fan for the attic and a NewAir AC for the bedroom. Both items from Air & Water, Inc. keep me very cool. I recommend both items. I am a very happy customer!

The NewAir AC-12000E is an awesome unit. It's light weight and maneuvers very easily on carpeted floors. It's easy to hook up and is not as loud as the previous window unit we had installed. Wish the hot air outlet was a little higher on the unit, but other than that the NewAir AC-12000E is the best AC unit I've seen. The packaging of this unit was superb the unit was encased in foam and the outside box hold the unit's box was also encased in foam. Will recommend to all my friends.

I have a rental and did not want a/c hanging out the window of the house. It does a great job for a small apartment. I think it is a little loud, but probably no more than the window unit. Been using our portable AC unit for about 2 weeks now. So far working great. WE used it on our sun porch for a graduation party and it did well .... trying to use it to cool our upstairs in the midst of a big heat wave on the east coast. Will have a better idea by the end of the summer but so far so good

Have had it for a few weeks now and it is working great. Cools a 12x18 foot living room and by placing a fan across the room it basically cools the whole level of the house. Have ordered another one for downstairs!

This is great at cooling down the room but when it switches from plain fan to A/C it sounds like there is an airplane in the room. I like the white noise, but this is bordering on too loud. It also shakes the house when it moves to the A/C mode. It's in a 2nd floor room. I may try to put some cardboard or some other 'quieting' flooring under it to see if that helps with the excessive noise and vibration. Well built and great cooling effect.

Fantastic unit. I use it to cool a normally sauna hot room on the top floor surrounded by attic and crawl space. Originally I had thought I may need an attic fan but the landlord disagreed. After installing this unit I was happy to realize that I could sleep very comfortably in this room. I normally like between 68-72 sleeping temps and I use quilts as well. The unit is not the quietest I've seen or heard but it's not too loud for me on the low fan setting, I actually like the sound as I've always used either a fan or A/C for the background noise to help me sleep as well. For as hard as this unit works some noise is not only welcome but acceptable to me. Thanks for looking.

This unit work great. We have it in an upstairs bonus room (about 500 sq ft) with a TV, 2 computers and a small refrig running all the time and this unit keeps it nice and cool. It's a bit large and noisy, but not so that it's unbearable. I would recommend this unit.

We use this little machine to cool our entire main floor of an 1100 sq. ft. house. It isn't cold but really helps keep it much cooler as we have no other cooling system. We live in Pueblo where it gets above 100 degrees for a lot of the summer. This would really be a good unit to use with central air for a hot room. A whole house really overwhelms this little unit. It is a bit noisy but a good value.

Just used it for the 1st time this weekend in a small lake house. Turned it on in the living/dining room area only and it took about 4 hours to cool off. Guess I shouldn't expect it to work like a central a/c. It will work well for what we need. Hot air coming from back of unit is more than I expected. Really needs to be vented, but we just put it on our fireplace mantel and let it vent into the fireplace which worked fine.

Both of the units arrived in a few days as promised. I couldn't be happier with the two units. Workmanship, ease of use, and cooling power are outstanding. The washable intake filters are an added bonus, and the compact size and appearance are excellent. Don't let the size fool you, these units are powerful and cool large rooms quickly. The only problem I have is keeping the units. My daughter was so impressed, I gave her one of my mine. I plan to replace it soon.

Purchased this product due to the sale price. Product arrived exactly as expected. Easy installation. Average size room. Runs all day and only does mediocre job of cooling. Of course we are experiencing real hot days right now averaging 95% daily. So I really don't know, but I would not buy again.

I bought two of these units and they work great. If I could change anything it would be the venting at the window. The vent 'bar' is not a tight fit.

I use this unit in an indoor growing environment and it definitely cools better than the smaller 10,000 btu I had in previously. Although this unit is not that much bigger both physically and btus it dropped my ambient temperature by an average between ten and fifteen degrees when running full power. Most of the features are pretty much the same as other units I've looked at but for the price I paid I'm very pleased.

Product is good and has great features but when the compressor kick in it's a little noisy. Also, I have it upstairs and it vibrates everything (walls, floor ceiling etc) Overall a good unit and it does cool very well to about 75-76 but no cooler. Works well for what I use it for to cool the room before bed.

My wife & I wanted an A/C unit that would cool the 1st floor of our home (kitchen, Living-room, 1/2 bath & dining-room). We have used 2 window units for years but these were getting old and were inefficient. The NewAir AC-1200E does a very good job of replacing these old A/C units. Not only is it energy efficient, the vent can be placed in a window without removing the screen. I like this added security feature.

This product is adequate for the purpose it is used. We actually move it around from room to room depending on where we are. It was necessary to make a new transition to put in the window closure to seal it better. It's a bit noisy to sleep with for me, but its overall performance, price and convenience make it a good purchase.

I have been pleased with the unit, it does a great job cooling down a room approx 15-29 ft. Temps have been in the 90's and sticky yet the first drop of condensation has not run out of the hose. My only complaint would be the noise of the unit it thumps and the fans are noisy.

We purchased this unit to supplement our central air. We own a top floor condo which can get quite warm during the hot summer days here in North Carolina. Since we received our unit about two weeks ago the temperature has hovered above 95 with an average humidity of 70 plus. This unit really does the job of cooling our master bedroom plus dressng area, walk in closet and master bath. Even on low setting it pushes out a strong volume of cold air and quite rapidly cools the area. It is very easy to unpack and set up. Took me about 20 minutes to have it up and running and I was taking my time to read instructions, etc. Our only complaint is the loudness of the unit when the compressor comes on. Some might object - it is loud - it doesn't bother me since I sleep through just about anything but my wife has taken a few days to ajust to the noise. So far, other than the compressor noise, we are happy with it. We purchased it to keep things cool and it does the job!

I was actually Hopping for a little more cooling strength, but, in all fairness, the unit does do what it says. For the price point it is very good. It keeps the area comfortable. I knew from the start it would not keep it super cool since it is not a contiguous area. Just like many of us consumers, if I were in a better financial state I would have purchased a different model. However, like I said before, for the price point is very good. Thank you.

I built my house 30 years ago and didn't put in duct work for heat or air we heat with wood and plenty of windows but they are casement and won't take a regular window air unit but we have a flue opening in the bedroom so I took the flue cap and modified it for the exhaust. Great sleeping.

The vent hose is about 12" too short and now I will have to come up with a hose entension to reach the additional 12", otherwise he portable air conditioner works just great.

A bit noisy, but it does its job cooling a 340sq.ft. home office & family room.

This NewAir AC is great it cools quickly and works very well... It really covers more sq feet than stated... Would highly recommend this to anyone... The only small negative is it is a little noise...

We use this to cool the bedroom in our vacation home in central Indiana. We did not want a window unit to block the only window in the bedroom, so this seems to be the perfect answer. It is portable and does a great job of cooling.

This AC was very easy to set-up and get started. I read all of the reviews for this AC and was very impressed with the positive feed back. I didn't even look at any other units. It cools the room fairly quickly but it is a little louder than I expected. After a while though, it doesn't seem so bad. The window hookup worked perfectly for our type of up & down windows. The AC has been used several times during different weather conditions however when the outside temperature reached above 80 it cooled to 75 and stayed there.

The NewAir AC-12000E Portable is a five star outstanding performer. I used it in my second floor bedroom next to an attic space that in June, 2010 has been 110 degrees F. I also purchased an exhaust fan for the attic from Air&Water,Inc. Both items solved my hot bedroom problem. I connected both to a 4 inch GFCI Portable Safety Outlet. Great unit - does the job to cool my office with all the electronic equipment (servers, etc.). Cosmetics are good. I have not had to empty any condensation accumulated in the unit since my purchase approx 11/2 months ago. Really quiet while running (fan only). When the compressor kicks in it is still relatively quiet. The size of my office is 20 x 12 and it is a perfect solution for my situation. Also, I had a misunderstanding with the information on the website regarding shipping. The company was senstive to my complaint and resolved the matter to my satifaction. Thanks to you.

Really easy to set. Up and running in 20 minutes. So far only used as a fan. I think I am going to have a small issue with unattaching the hose from the window kit to move the ac to the bedroom. Concerned about breaking either the hose end or even the window kit. Regardless I would recommned product to a friend :O)

We have been using the NewAir 12000E for about 2 weeks in our second story bedroom. I find that if I turn the unit on around 6:00 pm and close up the room by the time I go to bed I can easily raise the temperature and the unit will not have to go to the cooling cycle for several hours. I do find the cooling cycle is a little loud but it doesn't have the high pitch that many window units have. It is easy to set up and move around as needed. Generally, we are quite satisfied.

Our lake house rarely needs an A/C except if it's extremely humid. This is just the right thing to keep the humitiy down and not have the huge expense and mess of installing a permanent A/C. My nephew recommended this to me, and I would definitely recommend it to someone else.

I purchased the unit to cool the rear of my small ranch home, about 900 sq ft. total living space. I have a window unit which cools one end of home and needed another AC unit for the other end where the bedrooms are. Once the house is cool and dehumidified with both units running, I can turn off the noisy window unit and the NewAir AC-12000E maintains the cool temperature in the home. In the Auto Mode, it saves power by turning off the compressor with the automatic thermostat. It is larger that I thought it would be and takes up floor space. The window attachment is flimsy, a mark for burglars to remove easily and not engineered very well. With foam insulating strips and duct tape, the window will seal. I drilled holes in the metal window and used metal screws to make the window more secure. All in all, it does a great job cooling my home.

I bought this because my central air does not cool the upstairs very much, but I didn't want a window air conditioner. It works very well for a fairly large room, and cools it quicker than I thought it would. I am not very good at putting things together, but I was able to set it up in a fairly short period of time. So far it is running trouble free, but I have not used it all that much. The major negative for me is not in the product itself but in the owner's manual. I think it assumes that one knows what one is doing when setting it up, so the steps are not very detailed. I for one, did NOT know what I was doing, so I would have appreciated a little more detail in HOW to do certain steps. It gives a good diagram of the control panel, but does not explain everything- for example, it tells you one button is the ionizer, but what the heck does it do and are you supposed to turn it on every time you use the machine or only once in awhile? Also, the owner's manual has no address, phone number, or email address so the consumer cannot contact any support service. All in all, the product itself is excellent and I hope it stands the test of time.

This unit was very easy to install, somewhat larger than expected even though we had the dimentions, and it's a bit noisey. The noise is better than the heat thought. We are using it in a bonus room over the garage, where our son has his big screen TV and computers. It is cooling the area very well at this point and hope that continues as the weather gets hotter.

NewAir-12000E Use in my bedroom I am totally satisfied cooled room from 85 to 73 in one hour great air conditioner. I would recommend.

We live in Pueblo, CO, which has been over 100 degrees almost since we received our unit last week. Our 1200 sq. ft. main floor is kept pretty cool by this one unit. We close off the bedrooms during the day and that helps the unit keep up. We do not have shade trees so our house is extremely hot. The unit is quite noisy but that is not as bad as the heat. When we can afford central air and shade trees we will move the unit to our offices.

The NewAir ac-1200e is better than average ac unit. It cools fast and the set up is straight forward. Basically just plug in and turn-on. It is a bit noisy but not more than most other units, certainly not as quiet. I do wish it had a dehumidify mode. It does take moisture from air but the mode functions are cool, auto and fan. This is a bit confusing as it says it does dehumidify. The owner manual is also skimpy and does not explain this either.

Purchased the AC-12000E in April 2007. Runs 5 days a week almost year round. Mine is the old style unit and not sure about refrigerant used in older models. I vacuum the filter from time to time and that is it. I use mine in an office enviroment with hot computer equipment and will buy another one of these for my home garage. I will stick with AC units and not swamp coolers for Florida humidity. This is a great unit!

This unit works well in my wife's salon. It is quiet and takes up little space which is a must in her small space.

I'm a full time student and I have this unit for 3 years on 24/7, no joke outstanding machine. As long as I kept the filters clean, once a month I would say you will have no problems at all with this unit. I just bought a newer version of the AC-12000E and I don't even bother buying another brand besides NewAir. You will not regret it.
