our window overall is big enough that the fan will fit. However we will have to remove both upper and lower window panes for it to function properly. This leaves no way to use the weather guard. It leaves the fan and house open to the elements. At this point I'm going to have build or put another window on the outside of the house and figure a way to close it during rainy or stormy weather. This has turned into a big job and more expense. Maybe our fault for not understanding how the fan needs to fit or not understanding that the window opening needs to be twice the size of the fan.(vertical)

the only thing wrong with this fan is I cannot run it on the 2-3 position- higher speeds in either direction because it vibrates to much. However I have not contacted the manufacturer about this issue, but I will. A little disappointed because it is USA manufactured item. It is a little loud in the 2-3 position but that's to be expected when moving that much air but I'm sure the vibration issue is part of that also.

I purchased two fo these and installed them in a vertical sliding window because my house does not have an attic for a traditional whole house fan. These work every bit as well as the whole house fan I had in my previous home. They run very smooth and the noise level is low considering how much air these fans move. You can stand in the doorway of the room where they are installed and feel the breeze entering the room. I had an issue with another fan I ordered first from Air n Water and they were super easy to work with to return it and swap for these fans. I highly recommend this product and Air N Water, their customer service is top notch!

I don't like AC. Have wanted a whole house fan but hubby says no. I bought this fan because I could install it. Best investment in years. Quickly cools my house (1750 sq ft) and makes a nice breeze. In order for it to function at it's peak you need to remove the window screen. Only draw back is that it's loud in the room it's installed in. The 9155 Air King Window Exhaust Fan is not as powerful but is quieter. I use this one in another part of the house. Not sure how energy efficient this is but I expect it's better than using AC.

Over this past weekend I installed the air king window fan; it wasn't difficult at all and it preforms very good. I closed most of the windows down to about 2 inches and could feel the wind (air) passing through the rooms.
On power #1 it's quite; power #2 same thing then power #3 the fan rattles on the sides where the panels are extended.
I might have to stuff an old sock in the panel to stop that sound.

The expense estimates of having a "whole-house" fan installed in the attic were upwards of $1500! In order to save on electricity and A/C usage - I wanted a whole-house fan to pull the cool air into the house at night. By shutting the windows in the morning, when I get home from work - it's still cool inside!
I installed this Air King fan in an upstairs window in my 1940sq ft 3 story town house. It was pretty easy to install and it's great that you can shut the window after the fan is installed!
The fan works like a champ. Quieter than I thought it would be. Open a window downstairs - turn it on upstairs and you can immediately feel a very strong breeze!

House is single level over 1800sf and placed the fan in a back bedroom. We open a few strategic windows elsewhere in the house and with the fan on Low, we have a noticeable breeze through the entire house.
Our house is pretty tight and it was taking several hours after the outside temp dropped to comfortable before the a/c stopped cycling. Now we can make the inside temp match the outside temp in less than 10 minutes. It also removes burnt cooking smoke in about the same time.
The window I chose was not within the stated size, so I was on my own for installation. Without the wings, the fan is square and has flat edges, so it was very easy to adapt.
Being able to close the window behind the fan allows us to lock the house as we always have, use our a/c and heat as normal and easily deal with blowing rain.
So far, this fan has met my expectations completely and the order and delivery process was simple and straight forward. Everything related to the order and delivery happened just as stated, good job.

I purchased this fan from Air & Water after the first company told me it was in stock and then later when I asked where it was, I was told that the manufacturer was having problems and it wouldn't be available until Oct! The fan that this replaced was bought back in the 90's and cooled my house. Since then, I have been using it on a timer in my very hot garage each year. I use it to cool the garage as well as provide ventilation for drying my garlic and onions each year. The new Air King just went right in where the old one was and continued with the process. The strongest 3 speed intake/outtake fan that I could find for a window.

we needed to do something about the 120 degree temps on the second level of our cape cod - and this fan did it - you can feel the air movement even on the low setting - it's a good looking fan - good aesthetic - and easy to operate - and seemingly simple to install (we had someone do it) - it is noisy on the high settings - but that's to be expected - but you don't really hear it until you head upstairs -

I got this unit installed in under 2 hours and it has been keeping my 3400 sq foot house MUCH cooler.
The attic used to get up to 105 and stay there. Now in the AM the attic starts out in the 70's. I used to run A/C daily now I have barely turned them on.

This fan does a good job of circulating the air in large spaces. It does not, however, do the job nearly as well as the older version which was MUCH more powerful and MUCH more quiet. I would gladly pay more for the discontinued model.

This fan does exactly what I needed it to do. The housing seemed a little on the light duty side, but once properly assembled in the window, it's quite sturdy.
It's a little loud at top speed, but not much more than a smaller fan with half the power. At top speed it pulls air through 100 ft loft and cools an area of about 3,000 square feet in short order.
I would purchase this again in a heartbeat.

The fan is great! It's so powerful that the first time we turned it on, it pulled the shampoo from the bathroom window into the tub! On the highest setting, it's pretty noisy, but we only use that setting at night, so we don't hear it.

We use this to cool a good-sized apartment with a large skylight. Boston is not the hottest city in the country, but a sunny summer day makes the apartment bake. We turn this fan on in the evening, and the place cools fast. The difference between this and other window fans is greater than the specs would make you think.
The one defect is that the low speed setting isn't very low. In power use, noise, and air flow, it's like high on an ordinary window fan. Not a big problem for us, but if you want a quiet low-speed to run all night, this fan can't provide it.

This was a fan for my mom's home. We've always had the fan in the window venting the whole house every summer. We wouldn't ever be without it. Our original fan was vibrating and seemed to be on its last legs. So I ordered this Air King 9166 Exhaust Fan and hoped it would come close to what the fans were made of some 30 years ago. Well, I opened the box, and for starters, took a look @ the heavy metal wire cage on both sides of the blade. Wow, it even looked like it was better made than the antique sitting on the window sill. I couldn't believe it! I hung it on the screws that were used to mount our old fan and it fit perfectly! I didn't even have to move the screws. Wow again. I plugged it in and turned it on exhaust. This fan exceeds my expectations for sure. The cars aren't as well made as they used to be but this fan sure is! Highly recommended.

We installed this fan in a window of stairway cupula. It is located in the top most portion of a beach house. It draws the hot air from the lower portion of the house and vents it to the outside. It is a bit noisy of the high speed but we find we can let it run on low and not notice it in the evening. It has an industrial look to it however we did not find anything else on the market with better looks.
The best feature is the ability to close the window behind it for the winter. Installation was fairly easy. We did hard wire it to a switch so we can shut it off from downstairs without climbing the winding staircase to the 3rd floor. I would purchase it again.

Purchased this fan to reduce the use of the AC - bring fresh air into home. We've had it running since it was installed, no problems. Purchased this fan to cool the upstairs area of our house in the evening to reduce the amount of time we needed to run the air conditioner. The product is performing better than we anticipated. The whole house fans are very powerful and the intake and exhaust features are terrific. The amount of air that the fan moves is very impressive and cools down our two story, high ceiling, 1900 square foot home vey quickly. We jokingly say that the fans create our own little micro-climate! Was just as shown in your web site. Came well packaged and nothing was broken. After 24 years, my Sears exhaust fan stopped running. I really didn't think I would be able to replace it with another that had as much power. However, I received my Air King from you yesterday and put it in the window today. It is a very adequate xmlnsnt for my old fan. In fact, it may be more powerful.
