does the job it needs a thermostat
I use it in two car garage. When both cars come in garage the engine really heats up garage. The fan now removes this heat quickly.
I would like to suggest you add a thermostat. The fan would cut off at night when garage cools to set temperature

"COOL" Product!
This fan is a little smaller than the fan it replaced, but it does the same job and is quieter. It really helps to have a fan that can pull in cool air or be used as an exhaust. It makes working in our garage much nicer.

Flimsy materials, but good motor, and very effective
Besides the cheap feel to the housing and control knob, my biggest complaint is the lack of a solution to address the gap that is unavoidable between the top of the housing and the window when the bottom sash is up/open for use (not closed down in so-called "storm guard" mode). You can't mount the unit any tighter because you can't get any closer than the window sash's frame. But the glass is 1/2 inch or more deeper, so that gap is exposed, unless you can open your window far enough so that the bottom of sash's frame meets the top of the fan housing??? my window won't open quite that far. My solution was simple enough??? I just cut a piece of foam pipe insulation the width of the window, and then I stuff it in place to seal the gap. But this is inconvenient because I have to take it out again each time I close the window. (I do this every day??? open at night, then close in the morning before it gets hot, to seal up the house again for the day.) I would have expected that the fan would have come with weatherstripping or some other solution to this "gaping" issue.
I think the 7-position rotary switch is probably durable, but its mating to the plastic dial is weak. Sometimes the dial spins in my hand (possibly it was nearly falling off), and sometimes it does fall off in my hand. So I have to consciously push in while I turn it. I feel like I may completely strip that coupling someday. And its sticker decal is a little crooked too. :-(
My biggest praise is that the fan draws so much more air than my small 7" twin fan window unit did. Now if I accidentally try to close the door to the room, the door is sucked back open by the vacuum of the fan, and the sound of the fan changes drastically??? obviously there is some serious air movement going on. My previous little fan could not muster any similar show of force. I wish I had the window size large enough to fit the big brother of this fan??? I can imagine that would really blow me away.
It seems the company splurged on all the electrical parts, but skimped on the remainder? I suppose that's fine for people that set it up once, connected to a timer or controller, and don't expect to actually touch the fan again, but for me, I would have preferred a more balanced mix.
Would I buy it again? Yes definitely, but somewhat begrudgingly. Unfortunately I don't know of any better solution for an effective window-mounted fan.

I'm a smoker and the exhaust fan was just what I needed. I limit my smoking to one room in the house (my office), the room stays clean now, and being able to close the window without removing the fan is great! Thanks.

Using this fan to pull smoke from a smoker's room - quiet, powerful, easy installation, quick delivery.

This is a good little fan. I was hoping to replace my worn out older Air King model that was a 20" but the newer larger model is slightly too big to fit my windows. The build quality of this fan seems less than the metal-bladed larger unit, and I was hesitant. So far I have been impressed though, and the ability to close the window without removing the fan is quite useful. This is accomplished by the shrouding over the exterior side of the motor that seems designed to tolerate at least some amount of rain, and it seems to do its job well.
This fan does not move the amount of air my older and larger fan did, but it seems to be quite adequate to pull enough air through my 950 sq. ft. home. Air King generally makes a good product and I anticipate this fan will do its job for several years. Still wish it had metal blades.

I have enjoyed my new air king 9155 exhaust fan. I'm not having to run my central air as much. I also installed my fan in wash room and it keeps hot air out from dryer and water heater. I wished it was easier to install on inside jam of window, but other than that I love it.
