Patience & testing = good coffee
I've had several espresso electric machines (admittedly cheap ones) that quit working after 6 months of one daily usage. I looked at more expensive machines but couldn't justify the cost for one cup a day. Then I saw this machine and I liked that it is NOT electric. I think it does need to be fiddled with to get the taste you want. The milk steamer is excellent - my number one criteria. Frothing is also excellent---that is not very important to me, but is to most folks. Espresso is very good. The way to make this machine excellent is for users to take just a couple of days to find out the formula that makes the cup they like. I've tried more water less water letting it heat up longer, start with milk already heated (this is unnecessary if water in pot allowed to heat up enough) Compared to electric machines this is very easy to clean...and put together and take apart. Now that I've spent a little time with it, I get a great latte every time. A friend who just likes espresso pronounced the cup I made for him excellent.
